Den nye himmelen og den nye jorda
1 Eg såg ein ny himmel og ei ny jord. For den fyrste himmel og den fyrste jord hadde kvorve bort, og havet var ikkje meir. t 2 Og eg såg den heilage byen, det nye Jerusalem, koma ned frå himmelen, frå Gud, budd som ei brur som er pynta for sin brudgom. t 3 Frå kongsstolen høyrde eg ei høg røyst som sa: «Sjå, Guds bustad er hjå menneska. Han skal bu hjå dei, og dei skal vera hans folk, og Gud sjølv skal vera hjå dei. t
4 Han skal turka kvar tåre frå augo deira, og døden skal ikkje vera meir, og ikkje sorg og ikkje skrik og ikkje pinsle. For det som før var, er borte.»t
5 Då sa han som sit på kongsstolen: «Sjå, eg gjer alle ting nye!» Og han la til: «Skriv det opp! For desse orda er pålitelege og sanne.» t 6 Så sa han til meg: «Det har hendt! Eg er Alfa og Omega, opphavet og enden. Eg vil gje den tyrste av kjelda med livsens vatn for inkje. t 7 Den som sigrar, skal arva dette, og eg vil vera hans Gud, og han skal vera min son. t
8 Men dei som er reddhuga og vantruande og vanheilage, dei som myrdar og driv hor, trollmennene og avgudsdyrkarane og alle lygnarane, deira plass skal vera i sjøen som brenn med eld og svovel. Det er den andre døden.»tDet nye Jerusalem
9 Ein av dei sju englane som hadde dei sju skålene, fylte med dei sju siste plagene, kom og sa til meg: «Kom, så skal eg visa deg brura, maken åt Lammet.» t 10 I ånda førte han meg opp på eit stort og høgt fjell og viste meg den heilage byen, Jerusalem, som kom ned frå himmelen, frå Gud. t 11 Byen hadde Guds herlegdom, og han stråla som den dyraste edelstein, som krystallklår jaspis. 12 Han hadde ein stor og høg mur med tolv portar. Ved portane stod det tolv englar, og namna på dei tolv Israels-ættene var skrivne der. t 13 Tre portar vende mot aust, tre mot nord, tre mot sør og tre mot vest.
14 Bymuren hadde tolv grunnsteinar, og på dei var det skrive tolv namn, namna på dei tolv apostlane åt Lammet.t
15 Han som tala med meg, hadde ei mælestong av gull; med den skulle han mæla både byen og portane og muren. t 16 Byen var ein firkant, like lang som brei. Og engelen mælte byen med mælestonga: Han var 12 000 stadier lang og like brei og høg. t 17 Så mælte han bymuren: Han var 144 alner høg etter menneskemål, som òg er englemål. 18 Muren var bygd av jaspis, og sjølve byen var av reint gull, lik det klåraste glas. 19 Grunnsteinane i bymuren var prydde med alle slag dyre steinar. Den fyrste grunnsteinen var av jaspis, den andre av safir, den tredje av kalsedon, den fjerde av smaragd, t 20 den femte av sardonyks, den sjette av karneol, den sjuande av krysolitt, den åttande av beryll, den niande av topas, den tiande av krysopras, den ellevte av hyasint, den tolvte av ametyst.
21 Dei tolv portane var tolv perler; kvar port var laga av ei einaste perle. Gata i byen var av reint gull, klår som glas.
22 Noko tempel såg eg ikkje i byen, for Gud Herren, Den Allmektige, og Lammet er tempel der. 23 Og byen treng ikkje ljos frå sol eller måne, for Guds herlegdom lyser over han, og Lammet er ljoset hans. t 24 Folkeslaga skal ferdast i ljoset frå byen, og kongane på jorda skal koma dit med alle rikdomane sine. t 25 Byportane skal aldri stengjast etter dagen, for natt skal ikkje vera der. t 26 Og alt det verdfulle og herlege som folka har, skal dei føra dit. 27 Men noko ureint skal aldri koma inn, og ikkje nokon som fer med heidensk styggedom og lygn, men berre dei som er oppskrivne i livsens bok hjå Lammet.t
REVELATION 21
The New Heaven and //the New Earth
1 t I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and so had the sea.
2 t Then I saw New Jerusalem, the holy city, coming down from God in heaven. It was like a bride dressed in her wedding gown and ready to meet her husband.
3 t I heard a loud voice shout from the throne:
God's home is now with his people. He will live with them, and they will be his own. Yes, God will make his home among his people.
4 t He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever.
5 Then the one sitting on the throne said:
I am making everything new. Write down what I have said. My words are true and can be trusted. 6 t Everything is finished! I am Alpha and Omega, t the beginning and the end. I will freely give water from the life-giving fountain to everyone who is thirsty.
7 t All who win the victory will be given these blessings. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
8 But I will tell you what will happen to cowards and to everyone who is unfaithful or dirty-minded or who murders or is sexually immoral or uses witchcraft or worships idols or tells lies. They will be thrown into that lake of fire and burning sulfur. This is the second death.tThe New Jerusalem
9 I saw one of the seven angels who had the bowls filled with the seven last terrible troubles. The angel came to me and said, “Come on! I will show you the one who will be the bride and wife of the Lamb.”
10 t Then with the help of the Spirit, he took me to the top of a very high mountain. There he showed me the holy city of Jerusalem coming down from God in heaven.
11 The glory of God made the city bright. It was dazzling and crystal clear like a precious jasper stone. 12 t The city had a high and thick wall with twelve gates, and each one of them was guarded by an angel. On each of the gates was written the name of one of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 Three of these gates were on the east, three were on the north, three more were on the south, and the other three were on the west.
14 The city was built on twelve foundation stones. On each of the stones was written the name of one of the Lamb's twelve apostles.
15 t The angel who spoke to me had a gold measuring stick to measure the city and its gates and its walls. 16 The city was shaped like a cube, because it was just as high as it was wide. When the angel measured the city, it was about 2,400 kilometers high and 2,400 kilometers wide.
17 Then the angel measured the wall, and by our measurements it was about 60 meters high.
18 t t The wall was built of jasper, and the city was made of pure gold, clear as crystal. 19 Each of the twelve foundations was a precious stone. The first was jasper, t the second was sapphire, the third was agate, the fourth was emerald, 20 the fifth was onyx, the sixth was carnelian, the seventh was chrysolite, the eighth was beryl, the ninth was topaz, the tenth was chrysoprase, the eleventh was jacinth, and the twelfth was amethyst.
21 Each of the twelve gates was a solid pearl. The streets of the city were made of pure gold, clear as crystal.
22 I did not see a temple there. The Lord God All-Powerful and the Lamb were its temple.
23 t And the city did not need the sun or the moon. The glory of God was shining on it, and the Lamb was its light.
24 t Nations will walk by the light of that city, and kings will bring their riches there. 25 t Its gates are always open during the day, and night never comes. 26 The glorious treasures of nations will be brought into the city. 27 t But nothing unworthy will be allowed to enter. No one who is dirty-minded or who tells lies will be there. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of lifet will be in the city.
