Apocalipsis 21

La nueva Jerusalén

1  Entonces vi un cielo nuevo y una tierra nueva, porque el primer cielo y la primera tierra habían desaparecido y también el mar. 2 Y vi la ciudad santa, la nueva Jerusalén, que descendía del cielo desde la presencia de Dios, como una novia hermosamente vestida para su esposo.

3 Oí una fuerte voz que salía del trono y decía: «¡Miren, el hogar de Dios ahora está entre su pueblo! Él vivirá con ellos, y ellos serán su pueblo. Dios mismo estará con ellos.t 4 Él les secará toda lágrima de los ojos, y no habrá más muerte ni tristeza ni llanto ni dolor. Todas esas cosas ya no existirán más».

5 Y el que estaba sentado en el trono dijo: «¡Miren, hago nuevas todas las cosas!». Entonces me dijo: «Escribe esto, porque lo que te digo es verdadero y digno de confianza». 6 También dijo: «¡Todo ha terminado! Yo soy el Alfa y la Omega, el Principio y el Fin. A todo el que tenga sed, yo le daré a beber gratuitamente de los manantiales del agua de la vida. 7 Los que salgan vencedores heredarán todas esas bendiciones, y yo seré su Dios, y ellos serán mis hijos.

8 »Pero los cobardes, los incrédulos, los corruptos, los asesinos, los que cometen inmoralidades sexuales, los que practican la brujería, los que rinden culto a ídolos y todos los mentirosos, tendrán su destino en el lago de fuego que arde con azufre. Ésta es la segunda muerte».

9 Entonces uno de los siete ángeles que tenían las siete copas con las últimas siete plagas se me acercó y me dijo: «¡Ven conmigo! Te mostraré a la novia, la esposa del Cordero».

10 Así que me llevó en el Espíritut a una montaña grande y alta, y me mostró la ciudad santa, Jerusalén, que descendía del cielo, desde la presencia de Dios. 11 Resplandecía de la gloria de Dios y brillaba como una piedra preciosa, como un jaspe tan transparente como el cristal. 12 La muralla de la ciudad era alta y ancha, y tenía doce puertas vigiladas por doce ángeles. Los nombres de las doce tribus de Israel estaban escritos en las puertas. 13 Había tres puertas a cada lado: al oriente, al norte, al sur y al occidente. 14 La muralla de la ciudad estaba fundada sobre doce piedras, las cuales llevaban escritos los nombres de los doce apóstoles del Cordero.

15 El ángel que hablaba conmigo tenía en la mano una vara de oro para medir la ciudad, sus puertas y su muralla. 16 Cuando la midió se dio cuenta de que era cuadrada, que medía lo mismo de ancho que de largo. En realidad, medía 2220 kilómetros de largo, lo mismo de alto y lo mismo de ancho.t 17 Después midió el grosor de las murallas, que eran de sesenta y cinco metrost (según la medida humana que el ángel usó).

18 La muralla estaba hecha de jaspe, y la ciudad era de oro puro y tan cristalino como el vidrio. 19 La muralla de la ciudad estaba fundada sobre doce piedras, cada una adornada con una piedra preciosa:t la primera con jaspe, la segunda con zafiro, la tercera con ágata, la cuarta con esmeralda, 20 la quinta con ónice, la sexta con cornalina, la séptima con crisólito, la octava con berilo, la novena con topacio, la décima con crisoprasa, la undécima con jacinto y la duodécima con amatista.

21 Las doce puertas estaban hechas de perlas, ¡cada puerta hecha de una sola perla! Y la calle principal era de oro puro y tan cristalino como el vidrio.

22 No vi ningún templo en la ciudad, porque el Señor Dios Todopoderoso y el Cordero son el templo. 23 La ciudad no tiene necesidad de sol ni de luna, porque la gloria de Dios ilumina la ciudad, y el Cordero es su luz. 24 Las naciones caminarán a la luz de la ciudad, y los reyes del mundo entrarán en ella con toda su gloria. 25 Las puertas nunca se cerrarán al terminar el día porque allí no existe la noche. 26 Todas las naciones llevarán su gloria y honor a la ciudad. 27 No se permitirá la entrada a ninguna cosa malat ni tampoco a nadie que practique la idolatría y el engaño. Sólo podrán entrar los que tengan su nombre escrito en el libro de la vida del Cordero.

REVELATION 21

The New Heaven and //the New Earth

1  t I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and so had the sea.

2 t Then I saw New Jerusalem, the holy city, coming down from God in heaven. It was like a bride dressed in her wedding gown and ready to meet her husband.

3  t I heard a loud voice shout from the throne:
God's home is now with his people. He will live with them, and they will be his own. Yes, God will make his home among his people.

4 t He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever.

5 Then the one sitting on the throne said:
I am making everything new. Write down what I have said. My words are true and can be trusted. 6 t Everything is finished! I am Alpha and Omega, t the beginning and the end. I will freely give water from the life-giving fountain to everyone who is thirsty.

7 t All who win the victory will be given these blessings. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

8 But I will tell you what will happen to cowards and to everyone who is unfaithful or dirty-minded or who murders or is sexually immoral or uses witchcraft or worships idols or tells lies. They will be thrown into that lake of fire and burning sulfur. This is the second death.t

The New Jerusalem

10 t Then with the help of the Spirit, he took me to the top of a very high mountain. There he showed me the holy city of Jerusalem coming down from God in heaven.
11 The glory of God made the city bright. It was dazzling and crystal clear like a precious jasper stone. 12 t The city had a high and thick wall with twelve gates, and each one of them was guarded by an angel. On each of the gates was written the name of one of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 Three of these gates were on the east, three were on the north, three more were on the south, and the other three were on the west.

14 The city was built on twelve foundation stones. On each of the stones was written the name of one of the Lamb's twelve apostles.
15  t The angel who spoke to me had a gold measuring stick to measure the city and its gates and its walls. 16 The city was shaped like a cube, because it was just as high as it was wide. When the angel measured the city, it was about 2,400 kilometers high and 2,400 kilometers wide.

17 Then the angel measured the wall, and by our measurements it was about 60 meters high.
18  t t The wall was built of jasper, and the city was made of pure gold, clear as crystal. 19 Each of the twelve foundations was a precious stone. The first was jasper, t the second was sapphire, the third was agate, the fourth was emerald, 20 the fifth was onyx, the sixth was carnelian, the seventh was chrysolite, the eighth was beryl, the ninth was topaz, the tenth was chrysoprase, the eleventh was jacinth, and the twelfth was amethyst.

21 Each of the twelve gates was a solid pearl. The streets of the city were made of pure gold, clear as crystal.
22 I did not see a temple there. The Lord God All-Powerful and the Lamb were its temple.

23 t And the city did not need the sun or the moon. The glory of God was shining on it, and the Lamb was its light.
24  t Nations will walk by the light of that city, and kings will bring their riches there. 25 t Its gates are always open during the day, and night never comes. 26 The glorious treasures of nations will be brought into the city. 27 t But nothing unworthy will be allowed to enter. No one who is dirty-minded or who tells lies will be there. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of lifet will be in the city.
