Apocalipsis 21

La nueva Jerusalén

1 Después vi un cielo nuevo y una tierra nueva, porque el primer cielo y la primera tierra habían dejado de existir, lo mismo que el mar. 2 Vi además la ciudad santa, la nueva Jerusalén, que bajaba del cielo, procedente de Dios, preparada como una novia hermosamente vestida para su prometido. 3 Oí una potente voz que provenía del trono y decía: «¡Aquí, entre los seres *humanos, está la morada de Dios! Él acampará en medio de ellos, y ellos serán su pueblo; Dios mismo estará con ellos y será su Dios. 4 Él les enjugará toda lágrima de los ojos. Ya no habrá muerte, ni llanto, ni lamento ni dolor, porque las primeras cosas han dejado de existir.»
5 El que estaba sentado en el trono dijo: «¡Yo hago nuevas todas las cosas!» Y añadió: «Escribe, porque estas palabras son verdaderas y dignas de confianza.»
6 También me dijo: «Ya todo está hecho. Yo soy el Alfa y la Omega, el Principio y el Fin. Al que tenga sed le daré a beber gratuitamente de la fuente del agua de la vida. 7 El que salga vencedor heredará todo esto, y yo seré su Dios y él será mi hijo. 8 Pero los cobardes, los incrédulos, los abominables, los asesinos, los que cometen inmoralidades sexuales, los que practican artes mágicas, los idólatras y todos los mentirosos recibirán como herencia el lago de fuego y azufre. Ésta es la segunda muerte.»
9 Se acercó uno de los siete ángeles que tenían las siete copas llenas con las últimas siete plagas. Me habló así: «Ven, que te voy a presentar a la novia, la esposa del Cordero.» 10 Me llevó en el Espíritu a una montaña grande y elevada, y me mostró la ciudad santa, Jerusalén, que bajaba del cielo, procedente de Dios. 11 Resplandecía con la gloria de Dios, y su brillo era como el de una piedra preciosa, semejante a una piedra de jaspe transparente. 12 Tenía una muralla grande y alta, y doce puertas custodiadas por doce ángeles, en las que estaban escritos los nombres de las doce tribus de Israel. 13 Tres puertas daban al este, tres al norte, tres al sur y tres al oeste. 14 La muralla de la ciudad tenía doce cimientos, en los que estaban los nombres de los doce apóstoles del Cordero.
15 El ángel que hablaba conmigo llevaba una caña de oro para medir la ciudad, sus puertas y su muralla. 16 La ciudad era cuadrada; medía lo mismo de largo que de ancho. El ángel midió la ciudad con la caña, y tenía dos mil doscientos kilómetros:s su longitud, su anchura y su altura eran iguales. 17 Midió también la muralla, y tenía sesenta y cinco metros,s según las medidas humanas que el ángel empleaba. 18 La muralla estaba hecha de jaspe, y la ciudad era de oro puro, semejante a cristal pulido. 19 Los cimientos de la muralla de la ciudad estaban decorados con toda clase de piedras preciosas: el primero con jaspe, el segundo con zafiro, el tercero con ágata, el cuarto con esmeralda, 20 el quinto con ónice, el sexto con cornalina, el séptimo con crisólito, el octavo con berilo, el noveno con topacio, el décimo con crisoprasa, el undécimo con jacinto y el duodécimo con amatista.s 21 Las doce puertas eran doce perlas, y cada puerta estaba hecha de una sola perla. La calles principal de la ciudad era de oro puro, como cristal transparente.
22 No vi ningún templo en la ciudad, porque el Señor Dios Todopoderoso y el Cordero son su templo. 23 La ciudad no necesita ni sol ni luna que la alumbren, porque la gloria de Dios la ilumina, y el Cordero es su lumbrera. 24 Las *naciones caminarán a la luz de la ciudad, y los reyes de la tierra le entregarán sus espléndidas riquezas.s 25 Sus puertas estarán abiertas todo el día, pues allí no habrá noche. 26 Y llevarán a ella todas las riquezass y el honor de las *naciones. 27 Nunca entrará en ella nada impuro, ni los idólatras ni los farsantes, sino sólo aquellos que tienen su nombre escrito en el libro de la vida, el libro del Cordero.

REVELATION 21

The New Heaven and //the New Earth

1  t I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and so had the sea.

2 t Then I saw New Jerusalem, the holy city, coming down from God in heaven. It was like a bride dressed in her wedding gown and ready to meet her husband.

3  t I heard a loud voice shout from the throne:
God's home is now with his people. He will live with them, and they will be his own. Yes, God will make his home among his people.

4 t He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever.

5 Then the one sitting on the throne said:
I am making everything new. Write down what I have said. My words are true and can be trusted. 6 t Everything is finished! I am Alpha and Omega, t the beginning and the end. I will freely give water from the life-giving fountain to everyone who is thirsty.

7 t All who win the victory will be given these blessings. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

8 But I will tell you what will happen to cowards and to everyone who is unfaithful or dirty-minded or who murders or is sexually immoral or uses witchcraft or worships idols or tells lies. They will be thrown into that lake of fire and burning sulfur. This is the second death.t

The New Jerusalem

10 t Then with the help of the Spirit, he took me to the top of a very high mountain. There he showed me the holy city of Jerusalem coming down from God in heaven.
11 The glory of God made the city bright. It was dazzling and crystal clear like a precious jasper stone. 12 t The city had a high and thick wall with twelve gates, and each one of them was guarded by an angel. On each of the gates was written the name of one of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 Three of these gates were on the east, three were on the north, three more were on the south, and the other three were on the west.

14 The city was built on twelve foundation stones. On each of the stones was written the name of one of the Lamb's twelve apostles.
15  t The angel who spoke to me had a gold measuring stick to measure the city and its gates and its walls. 16 The city was shaped like a cube, because it was just as high as it was wide. When the angel measured the city, it was about 2,400 kilometers high and 2,400 kilometers wide.

17 Then the angel measured the wall, and by our measurements it was about 60 meters high.
18  t t The wall was built of jasper, and the city was made of pure gold, clear as crystal. 19 Each of the twelve foundations was a precious stone. The first was jasper, t the second was sapphire, the third was agate, the fourth was emerald, 20 the fifth was onyx, the sixth was carnelian, the seventh was chrysolite, the eighth was beryl, the ninth was topaz, the tenth was chrysoprase, the eleventh was jacinth, and the twelfth was amethyst.

21 Each of the twelve gates was a solid pearl. The streets of the city were made of pure gold, clear as crystal.
22 I did not see a temple there. The Lord God All-Powerful and the Lamb were its temple.

23 t And the city did not need the sun or the moon. The glory of God was shining on it, and the Lamb was its light.
24  t Nations will walk by the light of that city, and kings will bring their riches there. 25 t Its gates are always open during the day, and night never comes. 26 The glorious treasures of nations will be brought into the city. 27 t But nothing unworthy will be allowed to enter. No one who is dirty-minded or who tells lies will be there. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of lifet will be in the city.
