요한계시록 21
새 하늘과 새 땅
1 나는 새 하늘과 새 땅을 보았습니다. 이전의 하늘과 이전의 땅이 사라지고, 바다도 없어졌습니다. 2 나는 또 거룩한 도성 새 예루살렘이, 남편을 위하여 단장한 신부와 같이 차리고, 하나님께로부터 하늘에서 내려오는 것을 보았습니다. 3 그 때에 나는 보좌에서 큰 음성이 울려 나오는 것을 들었습니다. “보아라, 하나님의 t집이 사람들 가운데 있다. 하나님이 그들과 함께 계실 것이요, 그들은 하나님의 백성이 될 것이다. 하나님이 친히 그들과 함께 계시고,t
4 그들의 눈에서 모든 눈물을 닦아 주실 것이니, 다시는 죽음이 없고, 슬픔도 울부짖음도 고통도 없을 것이다. 이전 것들이 다 사라져 버렸기 때문이다.”
5 그 때에 보좌에 앉으신 분이 말씀하셨습니다. “보아라, 내가 모든 것을 새롭게 한다.” 또 말씀하셨습니다. “기록하여라. 이 말은 신실하고 참되다.” 6 또 나에게 말씀하셨습니다. “다 이루었다. 나는 알파며 오메가, 곧 처음이며 마지막이다. 목마른 사람에게는 내가 생명수 샘물을 거저 마시게 하겠다. 7 이기는 사람은 이것들을 상속받을 것이다. 나는 그의 하나님이 되고, 그는 내 자녀가 될 것이다. 8 그러나 비겁한 자들과 신실하지 못한 자들과 가증한 자들과 살인자들과 음행하는 자들과 마술쟁이들과 우상 숭배자들과 모든 거짓말쟁이들이 차지할 몫은, 불과 유황이 타오르는 바다뿐이다. 이것이 둘째 사망이다.”
새 예루살렘
9 일곱 천사가 마지막 때에 일곱 재난이 가득 담긴 일곱 대접을 가졌는데, 그 가운데 하나가 나에게로 와서 말하기를 “이리로 오너라. 어린 양의 아내인 신부를 너에게 보여 주겠다” 하고, 10 나를 성령으로 휩싸서 크고 높은 산 위로 데리고 가서, 하나님께로부터 하늘에서 내려오는 거룩한 도성 예루살렘을 보여 주었습니다. 11 그 도성은 하나님의 영광에 싸였고, 그 빛은 지극히 귀한 보석과 같고, 수정처럼 맑은 벽옥과 같았습니다. 12 그 도성에는 크고 높은 성벽이 있고, 거기에는 열두 대문이 달려 있었습니다. 그 열두 대문에는 열두 천사가 지키고 있고, 이스라엘 자손 열두 지파의 이름이 적혀 있었습니다. 13 그 대문은 동쪽에 셋, 북쪽에 셋, 남쪽에 셋, 서쪽에 셋이 있었습니다. 14 그 도성의 성벽에는 주춧돌이 열두 개가 있고, 그 위에는 어린 양의 열두 사도의 열두 이름이 적혀 있었습니다.
15 나에게 말하던 그 천사는, 그 도성과 그 문들과 성벽을 측량하려고, 금으로 된 자막대기를 가지고 있었습니다. 16 그 도성은 네 모가 반듯하여, 가로와 세로가 같았습니다. 그가 자막대기로 그 도성을 재어 보니, 가로와 세로와 높이가 서로 똑같이 t만 이천 스타디온이었습니다. 17 또 그가 성벽을 재어 보니, 사람의 치수로 t백사십사 규빗이었는데, 그것은 천사의 치수이기도 합니다. 18 그 성벽은 벽옥으로 쌓았고, 도성은 맑은 수정과 같은 순금으로 되어 있었습니다. 19 그 성벽의 주춧돌들은 각색 보석으로 꾸며져 있었습니다. 첫째 주춧돌은 벽옥이요, 둘째는 사파이어요, 셋째는 옥수요, 넷째는 비취옥이요, 20 다섯째는 홍마노요, 여섯째는 홍옥수요, 일곱째는 황보석이요, 여덟째는 녹주석이요, 아홉째는 황옥이요, 열째는 녹옥수요, 열한째는 청옥이요, 열두째는 자수정이었습니다. 21 또 열두 대문은 열두 진주로 되어 있는데, 그 대문들이 각각 진주 한 개로 되어 있었습니다. 도시의 넓은 거리는 맑은 수정과 같은 순금이었습니다.
22 나는 그 안에서 성전을 볼 수 없었습니다. 그것은 전능하신 주 하나님과 어린 양이 그 도성의 성전이시기 때문입니다. 23 그 도성에는, 해나 달이 빛을 비출 필요가 없습니다. 그것은, 하나님의 영광이 그 도성을 밝혀 주며, 어린 양이 그 도성의 등불이시기 때문입니다. 24 민족들이 그 빛 가운데로 다닐 것이요, 땅의 왕들이 그들의 영광을 그 도성으로 들여올 것입니다. 25 그 도성에는 밤이 없으므로, 온종일 대문을 닫지 않을 것입니다. 26 그리고 사람들은 민족들의 영광과 명예를 그 도성으로 들여올 것입니다. 27 속된 것은 무엇이나 그 도성에 들어가지 못하고, 가증한 일과 거짓을 행하는 자도 절대로 거기에 들어가지 못합니다. 다만 어린 양의 생명책에 기록되어 있는 사람들만이 들어갈 수 있습니다.
REVELATION 21
The New Heaven and //the New Earth
1 t I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and so had the sea.
2 t Then I saw New Jerusalem, the holy city, coming down from God in heaven. It was like a bride dressed in her wedding gown and ready to meet her husband.
3 t I heard a loud voice shout from the throne:
God's home is now with his people. He will live with them, and they will be his own. Yes, God will make his home among his people.
4 t He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever.
5 Then the one sitting on the throne said:
I am making everything new. Write down what I have said. My words are true and can be trusted. 6 t Everything is finished! I am Alpha and Omega, t the beginning and the end. I will freely give water from the life-giving fountain to everyone who is thirsty.
7 t All who win the victory will be given these blessings. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
8 But I will tell you what will happen to cowards and to everyone who is unfaithful or dirty-minded or who murders or is sexually immoral or uses witchcraft or worships idols or tells lies. They will be thrown into that lake of fire and burning sulfur. This is the second death.tThe New Jerusalem
9 I saw one of the seven angels who had the bowls filled with the seven last terrible troubles. The angel came to me and said, “Come on! I will show you the one who will be the bride and wife of the Lamb.”
10 t Then with the help of the Spirit, he took me to the top of a very high mountain. There he showed me the holy city of Jerusalem coming down from God in heaven.
11 The glory of God made the city bright. It was dazzling and crystal clear like a precious jasper stone. 12 t The city had a high and thick wall with twelve gates, and each one of them was guarded by an angel. On each of the gates was written the name of one of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 Three of these gates were on the east, three were on the north, three more were on the south, and the other three were on the west.
14 The city was built on twelve foundation stones. On each of the stones was written the name of one of the Lamb's twelve apostles.
15 t The angel who spoke to me had a gold measuring stick to measure the city and its gates and its walls. 16 The city was shaped like a cube, because it was just as high as it was wide. When the angel measured the city, it was about 2,400 kilometers high and 2,400 kilometers wide.
17 Then the angel measured the wall, and by our measurements it was about 60 meters high.
18 t t The wall was built of jasper, and the city was made of pure gold, clear as crystal. 19 Each of the twelve foundations was a precious stone. The first was jasper, t the second was sapphire, the third was agate, the fourth was emerald, 20 the fifth was onyx, the sixth was carnelian, the seventh was chrysolite, the eighth was beryl, the ninth was topaz, the tenth was chrysoprase, the eleventh was jacinth, and the twelfth was amethyst.
21 Each of the twelve gates was a solid pearl. The streets of the city were made of pure gold, clear as crystal.
22 I did not see a temple there. The Lord God All-Powerful and the Lamb were its temple.
23 t And the city did not need the sun or the moon. The glory of God was shining on it, and the Lamb was its light.
24 t Nations will walk by the light of that city, and kings will bring their riches there. 25 t Its gates are always open during the day, and night never comes. 26 The glorious treasures of nations will be brought into the city. 27 t But nothing unworthy will be allowed to enter. No one who is dirty-minded or who tells lies will be there. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of lifet will be in the city.
