로마서 1

인사

1  그리스도 예수의 종인 나 바울은 부르심을 받아 사도가 되었습니다. 나는 하나님의 복음을 전하기 위하여 따로 세우심을 받았습니다. 2 이 복음은 하나님께서 예언자들을 통하여 성경에 미리 약속하신 것으로 3 그의 아들을 두고 하신 말씀입니다. 이 아들은, 육신으로는 다윗의 후손으로 태어나셨으며, 4 t성령으로는 죽은 사람들 가운데서 부활하심으로 나타내신 권능으로 하나님의 아들로 t확정되신 분이십니다. 그는 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도이십니다. 5 우리는 그를 통하여 은혜를 입어 사도의 직분을 받았습니다. 그것은 우리가 그 이름을 전하여 모든 민족이 믿고 순종하게 하려는 것입니다. 6 여러분도 그들 가운데 들어 있어서, 예수 그리스도의 부르심을 받은 사람이 되었습니다. 7 나는 로마에 있는 모든 신도에게 이 편지를 씁니다. 하나님께서 여러분을 사랑하셔서, 그의 거룩한 백성으로 부르셨습니다. 하나님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도께서 내려 주시는 은혜와 평화가 여러분에게 있기를 빕니다.

바울의 로마 방문 계획

8 나는 먼저 여러분 모두의 일로, 예수 그리스도를 통하여 나의 하나님께 감사를 드립니다. 그것은 여러분의 믿음에 대한 소문이 온 세상에 퍼지고 있기 때문입니다. 9 하나님은, 내가 그 아들의 복음을 전하는 일로 t충심으로 섬기는 분이시기에, 내 마음 속을 알고 계십니다. 나는 기도할 때마다, 언제나 여러분을 생각하며, 10 어떻게 해서든지 하나님의 뜻으로 여러분에게로 갈 수 있는 좋은 길이 열리기를 간구하고 있습니다. 11 내가 여러분을 간절히 보고 싶어하는 것은, 여러분에게 신령한 은사를 좀 나누어주어, 여러분을 굳세게 하려고 하는 것입니다. 12 이것은, 내가 여러분과 함께 지내면서, 여러분과 내가 서로의 믿음으로 서로 격려를 받고자 하는 것입니다. 13 t형제자매 여러분, 여러분은 이것을 아시기 바랍니다. 나는 여러분에게 가려고 여러 번 마음을 먹었으나, 지금까지 길이 막혀서 뜻을 이루지 못하였습니다. 나는 다른 이방 사람들 가운데서도 열매를 거둔 것과 같이, 여러분 가운데서도 그것을 좀 거두려고 했던 것입니다. 14 나는 그리스 사람에게나 미개한 사람에게나, 지혜가 있는 사람에게나 어리석은 사람에게나, 다 빚을 진 사람입니다. 15 그러므로 나의 간절한 소원은, 로마에 있는 여러분에게도 복음을 전하는 일입니다.

복음의 능력

16 나는 복음을 부끄러워하지 않습니다. 이 복음은 유대 사람을 비롯하여 t그리스 사람에게 이르기까지, 모든 믿는 사람을 구원하는 하나님의 능력입니다. 17 하나님의 의가 복음 속에 나타납니다. t이 일은 오로지 믿음에 근거하여 일어납니다. 이것은 성경에 기록한 바 t“의인은 믿음으로 살 것이다” 한 것과 같습니다.

사람이 짓는 갖가지 죄

18 하나님의 진노가, 불의한 행동으로 진리를 가로막는 사람의 온갖 불경건함과 불의함을 겨냥하여, 하늘로부터 나타납니다. 19 하나님을 알 만한 일이 사람에게 환히 드러나 있습니다. 하나님께서 그것을 환히 드러내 주셨습니다. 20 이 세상 창조 때로부터, 하나님의 보이지 않는 속성, 곧 그분의 영원하신 능력과 신성은, 사람이 그 지으신 만물을 보고서 깨닫게 되어 있습니다. 그러므로 사람들은 핑계를 댈 수가 없습니다. 21 사람들은 하나님을 알면서도, 하나님을 하나님으로 영화롭게 해드리거나 감사를 드리기는커녕, 오히려 생각이 허망해져서, 그들의 지각없는 마음이 어두워졌습니다. 22 사람들은 스스로 지혜가 있다고 주장하지만, 실상은 어리석은 사람이 되었습니다. 23 그들은 썩지 않는 하나님의 영광을, 썩어 없어질 사람이나 새나 네 발 짐승이나 기어다니는 동물의 형상으로 바꾸어 놓았습니다. 24 그러므로 하나님께서는, 사람들이 마음의 욕정대로 하도록 더러움에 그대로 내버려 두시니, 서로의 몸을 욕되게 하였습니다. 25 사람들은 하나님의 진리를 거짓으로 바꾸고, 창조주 대신에 피조물을 숭배하고 섬겼습니다. 하나님은 영원히 찬송을 받으실 분이십니다. 아멘. 26 이런 까닭에, 하나님께서는 사람들을 부끄러운 정욕에 내버려 두셨습니다. 여자들은 남자와의 바른 관계를 바르지 못한 관계로 바꾸고, 27 또한 남자들도 이와 같이, 여자와의 바른 관계를 버리고 서로 욕정에 불탔으며, 남자가 남자와 더불어 부끄러운 짓을 하게 되었습니다. 그래서 그들은 그 잘못에 마땅한 대가를 스스로 받았습니다. 28 사람들이 하나님을 인정하기를 싫어하므로, 하나님께서는 사람들을 타락한 마음 자리에 내버려 두셔서, 해서는 안될 일을 하도록 놓아 두셨습니다. 29 사람들은 온갖 불의와 악행과 탐욕과 악의로 가득 차 있으며, 시기와 살의와 분쟁과 사기와 적의로 가득 차 있으며, 수군거리는 자요, 30 중상하는 자요, t하나님을 미워하는 자요, 불손한 자요, 오만한 자요, 자랑하는 자요, 악을 꾸미는 모략꾼이요, 부모를 거역하는 자요, 31 우매한 자요, 신의가 없는 자요, 무정한 자요, 무자비한 자입니다. 32 그들은, 이와 같은 일을 하는 자들은 죽어야 마땅하다는 하나님의 공정한 법도를 알면서도, 자기들만 이런 일을 하는 것이 아니라, 이런 일을 저지르는 사람을 두둔하기까지 합니다.

ROMANS 1

1 From Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus.
God chose me to be an apostle, and he appointed me to preach the good news 2 that he promised long ago by what his prophets said in the holy Scriptures.

3-4 This good news is about his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ! As a human, he was from the family of David. But the Holy Spiritt proved that Jesus is the powerful Son of God, t because he was raised from death.
5 Jesus was kind to me and chose me to be an apostle, t so that people of all nations would obey and have faith.

6 You are some of those people chosen by Jesus Christ.

7 This letter is to all of you in Rome. God loves you and has chosen you to be his very own people.
I pray that God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!

A Prayer of Thanks

8 First, I thank God in the name of Jesus Christ for all of you. I do this because people everywhere in the world are talking about your faith.

9 God has seen how I never stop praying for you, while I serve him with all my heart and tell the good news about his Son.
10 In all my prayers, I ask God to make it possible for me to visit you. 11 I want to see you and share with you the same blessings that God's Spirit has given me. Then you will grow stronger in your faith.

12 What I am saying is that we can encourage each other by the faith that is ours.
13  t My friends, I want you to know that I have often planned to come for a visit. But something has always kept me from doing it. I want to win followers to Christ in Rome, as I have done in many other places.

14-15 It doesn't matter if people are civilized and educated, or if they are uncivilized and uneducated. I must tell the good news to everyone. That's why I am eager to visit all of you in Rome.

The Power //of the Good News

16  t I am proud of the good news! It is God's powerful way of saving all people who have faith, whether they are Jews or Gentiles.

17 t The good news tells how God accepts everyone who has faith, but only those who have faith.t It is just as the Scriptures say, “The people God accepts because of their faith will live.”t

Everyone Is Guilty

18 From heaven God shows how angry he is with all the wicked and evil things that sinful people do to crush the truth. 19 They know everything that can be known about God, because God has shown it all to them. 20 t God's eternal power and character cannot be seen. But from the beginning of creation, God has shown what these are like by all he has made. That's why those people don't have any excuse. 21 t They know about God, but they don't honor him or even thank him. Their thoughts are useless, and their stupid minds are in the dark. 22 They claim to be wise, but they are fools.

23 t They don't worship the glorious and eternal God. Instead, they worship idols that are made to look like humans who cannot live forever, and like birds, animals, and reptiles.
24 So God let these people go their own way. They did what they wanted to do, and their filthy thoughts made them do shameful things with their bodies.

25 They gave up the truth about God for a lie, and they worshiped God's creation instead of God, who will be praised forever. Amen.
26 God let them follow their own evil desires. Women no longer wanted to have sex in a natural way, and they did things with each other that were not natural.

27 Men behaved in the same way. They stopped wanting to have sex with women and had strong desires for sex with other men. They did shameful things with each other, and what has happened to them is punishment for their foolish deeds.
28  t Since these people refused even to think about God, he let their useless minds rule over them. That's why they do all sorts of indecent things. 29 They are evil, wicked, and greedy, as well as mean in every possible way. They want what others have, and they murder, argue, cheat, and are hard to get along with. They gossip,

30 say cruel things about others, and hate God. They are proud, conceited, and boastful, always thinking up new ways to do evil.
These people don't respect their parents. 31 They are stupid, unreliable, and don't have any love or pity for others. 32 They know God has said that anyone who acts this way deserves to die. But they keep on doing evil things, and they even encourage others to do them.
