1 PAOLO, servo di Gesù Cristo, chiamato ad essere apostolot, 2 appartato per l'Evangelo di Diot, il quale egli avea innanzi promesso, per li suoi profeti, nelle scritture santet, 3 intorno al suo Figliuolo, Gesù Cristo, nostro Signore; 4 fatto del seme di Davidet, secondo la carnet; dichiarato Figliuol di Diot in potenza, secondo lo Spirito della santità, per la risurrezione da'~mortit; 5 per lo quale noi abbiam ricevuta grazia ed apostolatot, all'ubbidienza di fede fra tutte le gentit, per lo suo nome; 6 fra le quali siete ancora voi, chiamati da Gesù Cristo;
7 a voi tutti che siete in Roma, amati da Dio, santi chiamatit: grazia, e pace da Dio, nostro Padre, e dal Signor Gesù Cristot.La fede dei Romani; Paolo brama vederli
8 IMPRIMA io rendo grazie all'Iddio mio per Gesù Cristo, per tutti voit, che la vostra fede è pubblicata per tutto il mondo. 9 Perciocchè Iddio, al quale io servo nello spirito mio, nell'evangelo del suo Figliuolo, mi è testimoniot, ch'io non resto mai di far menzione di voi; 10 pregando del continuo nelle mie orazioni di poter venire a voit; se pure, per la volontà di Diot, in fine una volta mi sarà porta la comodità di fare il viaggio. 11 Perciocchè io desidero sommamente di vedervi, per comunicarvi alcun dono spirituale, acciocchè siate confermatit.
12 E questo è, per esser congiuntamente consolato in voi, per la fede comune fra noi, vostra e mia.
13 Ora, fratelli, io non voglio che ignoriate che molte volte io ho proposto di venire a voit, acciocchè io abbia alcun frutto fra voi, come ancora fra le altre genti; ma sono stato impedito infino ad orat. 14 Io son debitoret a'~ Greci, ed ai Barbari; a'~savi, ed a'~pazzi.
15 Così, quant'è a me, io son pronto ad evangelizzare eziandio a voi che siete in Roma.La giustizia per la fede, rivelata nel Vangelo
16 PERCIOCCHÈ io non mi vergogno dell'evangelo di Cristot; poichè esso è la potenza di Dio in salute ad ogni credentet; al Giudeo imprima, poi anche al Grecot.
17 Perciocchè la giustizia di Dio è rivelata in essot, di fede in fede; secondo ch'egli è scritto: E il giusto viverà per fedet.Idolatria e depravazione dei Gentili
18 POICHÈ l'ira di Dio si palesa dal cielo sopra ogni empietà, ed ingiustizia degli uominit, i quali ritengono la verità in ingiustizia. 19 Imperocchè, ciò che si può conoscer dì Dio è manifesto in loro, perciocchè Iddio l'ha manifestato lorot. 20 Poichè le cose invisibili d'esso, la sua eterna potenza, e deità, essendo fin dalla creazion del mondo intese per le opere suet, si veggono chiaramente, talchè sono inescusabili. 21 Perciocchè, avendo conosciuto Iddio, non però l'hanno glorificato, nè ringraziato, come Dio; anzi sono invaniti nei lor ragionamenti, e l'insensato lor cuore è stato intenebratot. 22 Dicendosi esser savi, son divenuti pazzi.
23 Ed hanno mutata la gloria dell'incorruttibile Iddio nella simiglianza dell'immagine dell'uomo corruttibile, e degli uccelli, e delle bestie a quattro piedi, e de'~rettilit.
24 Perciò ancora Iddio li ha abbandonati a brutturat, nelle concupiscenze de'~lor cuori, da vituperare i corpi loro gli uni con gli altrit.
25 Essi, che hanno mutata la verità di Dio in menzognat, ed hanno adorata e servita la creatura, lasciato il Creatore, che è benedetto in eterno. Amen.
26 Perciò, Iddio li ha abbandonati ad affetti infamit; poichè anche le lor femmine hanno mutato l'uso naturale in quello che è contro a natura.
27 E simigliantemente i maschi, lasciato l'uso natural della femmina, si sono accesi nella lor libidine gli uni inverso gli altri, commettendo maschi con maschi la disonestà, ricevendo in loro stessi il pagamento del loro errore qual si conveniva.
28 E, siccome non hanno fatta stima di riconoscere Iddio, così li ha Iddio abbandonati ad una mente reproba, da far le cose che non si convengono; 29 essendo ripieni d'ogni ingiustizia, di malvagità, di cupidigia, di malizia; pieni d'invidia, d'omicidio, di contesa, di frode, di malignità; 30 cavillatori, maldicenti, nemici di Dio, ingiuriosi, superbi, vanagloriosi, inventori di mali, disubbidienti a padri ed a madri; 31 insensati, senza fede ne'~patti, senza affezion naturale, implacabili, spietati. 32 I quali, avendo riconosciuto il diritto di Dio, che coloro che fanno cotali cose son degni di mortet, non solo le fanno, ma ancora acconsentono a coloro che le commettonot.
Romans 1
Salutation
1 From Paul,t a slavets of Christ Jesus,s called to be an apostle,t set apart for the gospel of God.t2 This gospelt he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy scriptures,3 concerning his Son who was a descendantt of David with reference to the flesh,t4 who was appointed the Son-of-God-in-powers according to the Holy Spiritt by the resurrectiont from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord.5 Through himt we have received grace and our apostleshipt to bring about the obediencet of faitht among all the Gentiles on behalf of his name.6 You also are among them,t called to belong to Jesus Christ.t
7 To all those loved by God in Rome,s called to be saints:t Grace and peace to yout from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
Paul’s Desire to Visit Rome
8 First of all,t I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed throughout the whole world.9 For God, whom I serve in my spirit by preaching the gospelt of his Son, is my witness thatt I continually remember you10 and I always askt in my prayers, if perhaps now at last I may succeed in visiting you according to the will of God.t11 For I long to see you, so that I may impart to you some spiritual gifts to strengthen you,12 that is, that we may be mutually comforted by one another’s faith,t both yours and mine.13 I do not want you to be unaware,s brothers and sisters,t that I often intended to come to you (and was prevented until now), so that I may have some fruit even among you, just as I already have among the rest of the Gentiles.t14 I am a debtort both to the Greeks and to the barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish.
15 Thus I am eagert also to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome.s
The Power of the Gospel
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.s
17 For the righteousnesst of God is revealed in the gospelt from faith to faith,t just as it is written, “The righteous by faith will live.”s
The Condemnation of the Unrighteous
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of peoplet who suppress the truth by theirt unrighteousness,t19 because what can be known about God is plain to them,t because God has made it plain to them.20 For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, because they are understood through what has been made. So peoplet are without excuse.21 For although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give him thanks, but they became futile in their thoughts and their senseless heartst were darkened.22 Although they claimedt to be wise, they became fools
23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for an image resembling mortal human beingst or birds or four-footed animalss or reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them overs in the desires of their hearts to impurity, to dishonort their bodies among themselves.t
25 Theyt exchanged the truth of God for a liet and worshiped and served the creationt rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged the natural sexual relations for unnatural ones,t
27 and likewise the men also abandoned natural relations with woment and were inflamed in their passionst for one another. Ment committed shameless acts with men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God,t God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what should not be done.t29 They are filledt with every kind of unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, malice. They are rife witht envy, murder, strife, deceit, hostility. They are gossips,30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, contrivers of all sorts of evil, disobedient to parents,31 senseless, covenant-breakers,t heartless, ruthless.
32 Although they fully knowt God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die,t they not only do them but also approve of those who practice them.s
