1 เปาโล ผู้รับใช้ของพระเยซูคริสต์ ผู้ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงเรียกให้เป็นอัครสาวก และได้ถูกแยกตั้งไว้สำหรับข่าวประเสริฐของพระเจ้า2 (คือข่าวประเสริฐที่พระองค์ได้ทรงสัญญาไว้ล่วงหน้าโดยพวกศาสดาพยากรณ์ของพระองค์ในพระคัมภีร์อันบริสุทธิ์)3 เกี่ยวกับพระบุตรของพระองค์ คือพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา ผู้บังเกิดในเชื้อสายของดาวิดฝ่ายเนื้อหนัง4 แต่ฝ่ายพระวิญญาณแห่งความบริสุทธิ์นั้นบ่งไว้ด้วยฤทธานุภาพ คือโดยการเป็นขึ้นมาจากความตายว่า เป็นพระบุตรของพระเจ้า5 โดยทางพระองค์นั้นพวกข้าพเจ้าได้รับพระคุณและหน้าที่เป็นอัครสาวก เพื่อเห็นแก่พระนามของพระองค์ ให้ชนชาติต่างๆเชื่อฟังตามความเชื่อนั้น6 รวมทั้งพวกท่านที่พระเจ้าทรงเรียกให้เป็นคนของพระเยซูคริสต์ด้วย7 เรียน บรรดาท่านที่อยู่ในกรุงโรม ผู้ซึ่งพระเจ้าทรงรักและทรงเรียกให้เป็นวิสุทธิชน ขอพระคุณและสันติสุขซึ่งมาจากพระเจ้าพระบิดาของเราทั้งหลาย และจากพระเยซูคริสต์เจ้า จงดำรงอยู่กับพวกท่านเถิด8 ประการแรก ข้าพเจ้าขอขอบพระคุณพระเจ้าของข้าพเจ้าโดยทางพระเยซูคริสต์เหตุด้วยท่านทั้งหลาย เพราะว่าความเชื่อของพวกท่านเลื่องลือไปทั่วโลก9 เพราะพระเจ้าผู้ซึ่งข้าพเจ้าได้รับใช้ด้วยชีวิตจิตใจของข้าพเจ้าในข่าวประเสริฐแห่งพระบุตรของพระองค์นั้น ทรงเป็นพยานของข้าพเจ้าว่า เมื่อข้าพเจ้าอธิษฐานนั้น ข้าพเจ้าเอ่ยถึงท่านทั้งหลายเสมอไม่ว่างเว้น10 ข้าพเจ้าทูลขอว่า ถ้าเป็นที่พอพระทัยพระเจ้าแล้วให้ข้าพเจ้าได้มีโอกาสไปเยี่ยมท่านทั้งหลาย โดยอย่างหนึ่งอย่างใดในที่สุดนี้11 เพราะข้าพเจ้าปรารถนาที่จะได้พบท่านทั้งหลาย เพื่อจะได้นำของประทานฝ่ายจิตวิญญาณมาให้แก่ท่านบ้าง เพื่อเสริมกำลังท่านทั้งหลาย12 คือเพื่อข้าพเจ้าและท่านทั้งหลายจะได้หนุนใจซึ่งกันและกัน โดยความเชื่อของเราทั้งสองฝ่าย13 พี่น้องทั้งหลาย บัดนี้ข้าพเจ้าอยากให้ท่านทั้งหลายทราบว่า ข้าพเจ้าได้ตั้งใจไว้หลายครั้งแล้วว่าจะมาหาท่าน เพื่อข้าพเจ้าจะได้เก็บเกี่ยวผลในหมู่พวกท่านด้วย เช่นเดียวกับในหมู่ชนชาติอื่นๆ (แต่จนบัดนี้ก็ยังมีเหตุขัดข้องอยู่)14 ข้าพเจ้าเป็นหนี้ทั้งพวกกรีกและพวกชาวป่าด้วย เป็นหนี้ทั้งพวกนักปราชญ์และคนเขลาด้วย15 ฉะนั้นข้าพเจ้าก็เต็มใจพร้อมที่จะประกาศข่าวประเสริฐแก่ท่านทั้งหลายที่อยู่ในกรุงโรมด้วย16 ด้วยว่าข้าพเจ้าไม่มีความละอายในเรื่องข่าวประเสริฐของพระคริสต์ เพราะว่าข่าวประเสริฐนั้นเป็นฤทธิ์เดชของพระเจ้า เพื่อให้ทุกคนที่เชื่อได้รับความรอด พวกยิวก่อน และพวกกรีกด้วย17 เพราะว่าในข่าวประเสริฐนั้นความชอบธรรมของพระเจ้าก็ได้แสดงออก โดยเริ่มต้นก็ความเชื่อ สุดท้ายก็ความเชื่อ ตามที่มีเขียนไว้แล้วว่า `คนชอบธรรมจะมีชีวิตดำรงอยู่โดยความเชื่อ'18 เพราะว่า พระเจ้าทรงสำแดงพระพิโรธของพระองค์จากสวรรค์ต่อความอธรรมและความไม่ชอบธรรมทั้งมวลของมนุษย์ ที่เอาความไม่ชอบธรรมนั้นขัดขวางความจริง19 เหตุว่าเท่าที่จะรู้จักพระเจ้าได้ก็แจ้งอยู่กับใจเขาทั้งหลาย เพราะว่าพระเจ้าได้ทรงโปรดสำแดงแก่เขาแล้ว20 ตั้งแต่เริ่มสร้างโลกมาแล้ว สภาพที่ไม่ปรากฏของพระองค์นั้น คือฤทธานุภาพอันนิรันดร์และเทวสภาพของพระเจ้า ก็ได้ปรากฏชัดในสรรพสิ่งที่พระองค์ได้ทรงสร้าง ฉะนั้นเขาทั้งหลายจึงไม่มีข้อแก้ตัวเลย21 เพราะถึงแม้ว่าเขาทั้งหลายได้รู้จักพระเจ้าแล้ว เขาก็มิได้ถวายพระเกียรติแด่พระองค์ให้สมกับที่ทรงเป็นพระเจ้า หรือหาได้ขอบพระคุณไม่ แต่เขากลับคิดในสิ่งที่ไม่เป็นสาระ และจิตใจโง่เขลาของเขาก็มืดมัวไป22 เขาอ้างตัวว่าเป็นคนมีปัญญา เขาจึงกลายเป็นคนโง่เขลาไป23 และเขาได้เอาสง่าราศีของพระเจ้าผู้เป็นอมตะ มาแลกกับรูปมนุษย์ที่ต้องตายหรือรูปนก รูปสัตว์สี่เท้า และรูปสัตว์เลื้อยคลาน24 เหตุฉะนั้น พระเจ้าจึงทรงปล่อยเขาให้ประพฤติอุลามกตามราคะตัณหาในใจของเขา ให้เขากระทำสิ่งซึ่งน่าอัปยศทางกายต่อกัน25 เขาได้เปลี่ยนความจริงของพระเจ้าให้เป็นความเท็จ และได้นมัสการและปรนนิบัติสิ่งที่พระองค์ได้ทรงสร้างไว้แทนพระองค์ผู้ทรงสร้าง ผู้สมจะได้รับความสรรเสริญเป็นนิตย์ เอเมน26 เพราะเหตุนี้พระเจ้าจึงทรงปล่อยให้เขามีราคะตัณหาอันน่าอัปยศ แม้แต่พวกผู้หญิงของเขาก็เปลี่ยนจากการสัมพันธ์ตามธรรมชาติ ให้ผิดธรรมชาติไป27 ฝ่ายผู้ชายก็เลิกการสัมพันธ์กับผู้หญิงให้ถูกตามธรรมชาติเช่นกัน และเร่าร้อนด้วยไฟแห่งราคะตัณหาที่มีต่อกัน ผู้ชายกับผู้ชายด้วยกันประกอบกิจอันชั่วช้าอย่างน่าละอาย เขาจึงได้รับผลกรรมอันสมควรแก่ความผิดของเขา28 และเพราะเขาไม่เห็นชอบที่จะรู้จักพระเจ้า พระเจ้าจึงทรงปล่อยให้เขามีใจเลวทรามและประพฤติสิ่งที่ไม่เหมาะสม29 พวกเขาเต็มไปด้วยสรรพการอธรรม การล่วงประเวณี ความชั่วร้าย ความโลภ ความมุ่งร้าย เต็มไปด้วยความอิจฉาริษยา การฆาตกรรม การวิวาท การล่อลวง การคิดร้าย พูดนินทา30 ส่อเสียด เกลียดชังพระเจ้า หยาบคาย จองหอง อวดตัว ริทำชั่วอย่างใหม่ ไม่เชื่อฟังบิดามารดา31 อปัญญา ไม่รักษาคำสัญญา ไม่มีความรักกัน ไม่ยอมคืนดีกัน ปราศจากความเมตตา32 แม้เขาจะรู้การพิพากษาของพระเจ้าที่ว่าคนทั้งปวงที่ประพฤติเช่นนั้นสมควรจะตาย เขาก็ไม่เพียงประพฤติเท่านั้น แต่ยังเห็นดีกับคนอื่นที่ประพฤติเช่นนั้นด้วย
Romans 1
1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,2 which he promised afore through his prophets in the holy scriptures,3 concerning his Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,4 who was declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead; even Jesus Christ our Lord,5 through whom we received grace and apostleship, unto obedience of faith among all the nations, for his name’s sake;6 among whom are ye also called to be Jesus Christ’s:7 To all that are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is proclaimed throughout the whole world.9 For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the gospel of his Son, how unceasingly I make mention of you, always in my prayers10 making request, if by any means now at length I may be prospered by the will of God to come unto you.11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;12 that is, that I with you may be comforted in you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine.13 And I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you (and was hindered hitherto), that I might have some fruit in you also, even as in the rest of the Gentiles.14 I am debtor both to Greeks and to Barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish.15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you also that are in Rome.16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.17 For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, But the righteous shall live by faith.18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hinder the truth in unrighteousness;19 because that which is known of God is manifest in them; for God manifested it unto them.20 For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse:21 because that, knowing God, they glorified him not as God, neither gave thanks; but became vain in their reasonings, and their senseless heart was darkened.22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.24 Wherefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts unto uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves:25 for that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile passions: for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature:27 and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due.28 And even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up unto a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity; whisperers,30 backbiters, hateful to God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,31 without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, unmerciful:32 who, knowing the ordinance of God, that they that practise such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also consent with them that practise them.
