Israel y el evangelio

1 Hermanos, el deseo de mi corazón y mi oración a Dios por los israelitas es que alcancen la salvación. 2 En favor suyo puedo decir que tienen un gran deseo de servir a Dios; solo que ese deseo no está basado en el verdadero conocimiento. 3 Pues no reconociendo que es Dios quien hace justos a los hombres, tratan de ser justos por sí mismos sin someterse a lo establecido por Dios.t

4 Porque la ley se cumple en Cristot para que sean hechos justos todos los que tienen fe.
5 Acerca de la justicia que se basa en cumplir la ley, Moisés escribió: “Quien cumpla la ley, vivirá por ella.”t 6 Pero acerca de la justicia que se basa en la fe, dice: “No pienses ‘¿Quién subirá al cielo?’ –esto es, para hacer que Cristo baje– 7 o ‘¿Quién bajará al abismo?’ ” –esto es, para hacer que Cristo suba de entre los muertos. 8 ¿Qué es, pues, lo que dice?: “La palabra está cerca de ti, en tu boca y en tu corazón.”t Esta palabra es el mensaje de fe que predicamos. 9 Si con tu boca reconoces a Jesús como Señor,t y con tu corazón crees que Dios lo resucitó, alcanzarás la salvación.t

10 Pues con el corazón se cree para alcanzar la justicia y con la boca se confiesa a Jesucristo para alcanzar la salvación.
11 La Escritura dice: “El que confía en él no se verá defraudado.”t 12 No hay diferencia entre judíos y no judíos, pues el mismo que es Señor de todos da con abundancia a cuantos le invocan.t 13 Acerca de esto dice: “Todos los que invoquen el nombre del Señor alcanzarán la salvación.”t 14 Pero, ¿cómo lo van a invocar, si no han creído en él? ¿Y cómo van a creer, si no han oído hablar de él? ¿Y cómo van a oir, si nadie les anuncia el mensaje?

15 ¿Y cómo van a anunciarlo, si no hay quien los envíe? Como dice la Escritura: “¡Qué hermosa es la llegada de los que traen buenas noticias!”t
16 Pero no todos han aceptado el evangelio. Ya lo dice Isaías: “Señor, ¿quién ha creído nuestro mensaje?”t

17 Así pues, la fe resulta de oir el mensaje, y el mensaje llega por la palabra de Cristo.

18 Pero pregunto: ¿Será tal vez que no oyeron el mensaje? ¡Claro que lo oyeron! Porque la Escritura dice:
“La voz de ellos salió por toda la tierra;
hasta los últimos rincones del mundo llegaron sus palabras.”t

19 Y vuelvo a preguntar: ¿Será que los de Israel no han entendido? En primer lugar, Moisés dice:
“Yo os pondré celosos
de un pueblo que no es pueblo;
haré que os enojéis contra un pueblo
que no quiere entender.”t

20 Luego, Isaías se atreve a decir:
“Los que no me buscaban me encontraron;
me mostré a los que no preguntaban por mí.”t
21 Y refiriéndose a los israelitas dice Isaías: “Todo el día extendí mis manos a un pueblo desobediente y rebelde.”t

Romans 10

1 Brothers and sisters,t my heart’s desire and prayer to God on behalf of my fellow Israelitest is for their salvation.2 For I can testify that they are zealous for God,t but their zeal is not in line with the truth.ts3 For ignoring the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking instead to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

4 For Christ is the end of the law, with the result that there is righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 For Moses writes about the righteousness that is by the law: “The one who does these things will live by them.”s6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart,s ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’”s (that is, to bring Christ down)7 or “Who will descend into the abyss?”s (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”s (that is, the word of faith that we preach),9 because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lordt and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousnesst and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation.t11 For the scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”s12 For there is no distinction between the Jew and the Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all, who richly blesses all who call on him.

13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.s
14 How are they to call on one they have not believed in? And how are they to believe in one they have not heard of? And how are they to hear without someone preaching to themt?15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How timelytis the arrivaltof those who proclaim the good news.”s16 But not all have obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”s

17 Consequently faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached wordt of Christ.st
18 But I ask, have theyt not heard?t Yes, they have:tTheir voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.s19 But again I ask, didn’t Israel understand?t First Moses says, “I will make you jealous by those who are not a nation; with a senseless nation I will provoke you to anger.”s20 And Isaiah is even bold enough to say, “I was found by those who did not seek me; I became well known to those who did not ask for me.”s

21 But about Israel he says, “All day long I held out my hands to this disobedient and stubborn people!”s
