第10章
1 兄弟たちよ。わたしの心の願い、彼らのために神にささげる祈は、彼らが救われることである。2 わたしは、彼らが神に対して熱心であることはあかしするが、その熱心は深い知識によるものではない。3 なぜなら、彼らは神の義を知らないで、自分の義を立てようと努め、神の義に従わなかったからである。4 キリストは、すべて信じる者に義を得させるために、律法の終りとなられたのである。5 モーセは、律法による義を行う人は、その義によって生きる、と書いている。6 しかし、信仰による義は、こう言っている、「あなたは心のうちで、だれが天に上るであろうかと言うな」。それは、キリストを引き降ろすことである。7 また、「だれが底知れぬ所に下るであろうかと言うな」。それは、キリストを死人の中から引き上げることである。8 では、なんと言っているか。「言葉はあなたの近くにある。あなたの口にあり、心にある」。この言葉とは、わたしたちが宣べ伝えている信仰の言葉である。9 すなわち、自分の口で、イエスは主であると告白し、自分の心で、神が死人の中からイエスをよみがえらせたと信じるなら、あなたは救われる。10 なぜなら、人は心に信じて義とされ、口で告白して救われるからである。11 聖書は、「すべて彼を信じる者は、失望に終ることがない」と言っている。12 ユダヤ人とギリシヤ人との差別はない。同一の主が万民の主であって、彼を呼び求めるすべての人を豊かに恵んで下さるからである。13 なぜなら、「主の御名を呼び求める者は、すべて救われる」とあるからである。14 しかし、信じたことのない者を、どうして呼び求めることがあろうか。聞いたことのない者を、どうして信じることがあろうか。宣べ伝える者がいなくては、どうして聞くことがあろうか。15 つかわされなくては、どうして宣べ伝えることがあろうか。「ああ、麗しいかな、良きおとずれを告げる者の足は」と書いてあるとおりである。16 しかし、すべての人が福音に聞き従ったのではない。イザヤは、「主よ、だれがわたしたちから聞いたことを信じましたか」と言っている。17 したがって、信仰は聞くことによるのであり、聞くことはキリストの言葉から来るのである。18 しかしわたしは言う、彼らには聞えなかったのであろうか。否、むしろ「その声は全地にひびきわたり、その言葉は世界のはてにまで及んだ」。19 なお、わたしは言う、イスラエルは知らなかったのであろうか。まずモーセは言っている、「わたしはあなたがたに、国民でない者に対してねたみを起させ、無知な国民に対して、怒りをいだかせるであろう」。20 イザヤも大胆に言っている、「わたしは、わたしを求めない者たちに見いだされ、わたしを尋ねない者に、自分を現した」。21 そして、イスラエルについては、「わたしは服従せずに反抗する民に、終日わたしの手をさし伸べていた」と言っている。
Romans 10
1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and my supplication to God is for them, that they may be saved.2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.3 For being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.4 For Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to every one that believeth.5 For Moses writeth that the man that doeth the righteousness which is of the law shall live thereby.6 But the righteousness which is of faith saith thus, Say not in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down:)7 or, Who shall descend into the abyss? (That is, to bring Christ up from the dead.)8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach:9 because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved:10 for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be put to shame.12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek: for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich unto all that call upon him:13 for, Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?15 and how shall they preach, except they be sent? even as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that bring glad tidings of good things!16 But they did not all hearken to the glad tidings. For Isaiah saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?17 So belief cometh of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.18 But I say, Did they not hear? Yea, verily, Their sound went out into all the earth, And their words unto the ends of the world.
19 But I say, Did Israel not know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy with that which is no nation, With a nation void of understanding will I anger you.
20 And Isaiah is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I became manifest unto them that asked not of me.
21 But as to Israel he saith, All the day long did I spread out my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.
