Romanos 10

1 Hermanos, ciertamente lo que mi corazón anhela, y lo que pido a Dios en oración es la salvación de Israel.2 Me consta que ustedes tienen celo por Dios, pero su celo no se basa en el conocimiento.3 Pues al ignorar la justicia de Dios y procurar establecer su propia justicia, no se sujetaron a la justicia de Dios;4 porque el cumplimiento de la ley es Cristo, para la justicia de todo aquel que cree.

5 Moisés describe así a la justicia que se basa en la ley: «Quien practique estas cosas, vivirá por ellas.»t6 Pero la justicia que se basa en la fe dice así: «No digas en tu corazón: ¿Quién subirá al cielo? (Es decir, para hacer que Cristo baje.)7 ¿O quién bajará al abismo? (Es decir, para hacer subir a Cristo de entre los muertos.)»8 Lo que dice es: «La palabra está cerca de ti, en tu boca y en tu corazón.»t Ésta es la palabra de fe que predicamos:9 «Si confiesas con tu boca que Jesús es el Señor, y crees en tu corazón que Dios lo levantó de los muertos, serás salvo.»10 Porque con el corazón se cree para alcanzar la justicia, pero con la boca se confiesa para alcanzar la salvación.11 Pues la Escritura dice: «Todo aquel que cree en él, no será defraudado.»t12 Porque no hay diferencia entre el que es judío y el que no lo es, pues el mismo que es Señor de todos, es rico para con todos los que lo invocan,13 porque todo el que invoque el nombre del Señor será salvo.t

14 Ahora bien, ¿cómo invocarán a aquel en el cual no han creído? ¿Y cómo creerán en aquel de quien no han oído? ¿Y cómo oirán si no hay quien les predique?15 ¿Y cómo predicarán si no son enviados? Como está escrito: «¡Cuán hermosa es la llegada de los que anuncian la paz, de los que anuncian buenas nuevas!»t16 Pero no todos obedecieron al evangelio; pues Isaías dice: «Señor, ¿quién ha creído a nuestro anuncio?»t17 Así que la fe proviene del oír, y el oír proviene de la palabra de Dios.

18 Pero yo pregunto: ¿En verdad no han oído? ¡Por supuesto que sí!«Por toda la tierra ha salido la voz de ellos,
Y sus palabras han llegado hasta los confines de la tierra.»t

19 Y vuelvo a preguntar: ¿En verdad Israel no ha comprendido esto? En primer lugar, Moisés dice:«Yo haré que ustedes sientan celos de un pueblo que no es pueblo;
Y haré que ustedes se enojen con un pueblo insensato.»t

20 También Isaías dice resueltamente:«Los que no me buscaban, me encontraron;
me manifesté a los que no preguntaban por mí.»t


21 Pero acerca de Israel dice: «Todo el día extendí mis manos a un pueblo rebelde y contestatario.»t

ROMANS 10

1 Dear friends, my greatest wish and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved. 2 I know they love God, but they don't understand 3 what makes people acceptable to him. So they refuse to trust God, and they try to be acceptable by obeying the Law.

4 But Christ makes the Law no longer necessaryt for those who become acceptable to God by faith.

Anyone Can Be Saved

5  t Moses said a person could become acceptable to God by obeying the Law. He did this when he wrote, “If you want to live, you must do all the Law commands.”
6  t But people whose faith makes them acceptable to God will never ask, “Who will go up to heaven to bring Christ down?”

7 Neither will they ask, “Who will go down into the world of the dead to raise him to life?”
8 All who are acceptable because of their faith simply say, “The message is as near as your mouth or your heart.” And this is the same message we preach about faith. 9 So you will be saved, if you honestly say, “Jesus is Lord,” and if you believe with all your heart that God raised him from death.

10 God will accept you and save you, if you truly believe this and tell it to others.
11  t The Scriptures say no one who has faith will be disappointed, 12 no matter if that person is a Jew or a Gentile. There is only one Lord, and he is generous to everyone who asks for his help.

13 t All who call out to the Lord will be saved.
14 How can people have faith in the Lord and ask him to save them, if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear, unless someone tells them? 15 t And how can anyone tell them without being sent by the Lord? The Scriptures say it is a beautiful sight to see even the feet of someone coming to preach the good news.

16 t Yet not everyone has believed the message. For example, the prophet Isaiah asked, “Lord, has anyone believed what we said?”
17 No one can have faith without hearing the message about Christ.

18 t But am I saying that the people of Israel did not hear? No, I am not! The Scriptures say,
“The message was told
everywhere on earth.
It was announced
all over the world.”

19  t Did the people of Israel understand or not? Moses answered this question when he told that the Lord had said,
“I will make Israel jealous
of people
who are a nation
of nobodies.
I will make them angry
with people
who don't understand
a thing.”

20  t Isaiah was fearless enough to tell that the Lord had said,
“I was found by people
who were not looking
for me.
I appeared to the ones
who were not asking
about me.”

21  t And Isaiah said about the people of Israel,
“All day long the Lord
has reached out
to people who are stubborn
and refuse to obey.”
