1 Mina bröder, mitt hjärtas åstundan och min bön till Gud för dem är att de må bliva frälsta.2 Ty det vittnesbördet giver jag dem, att de nitälska för Gud. Dock göra de detta icke med rätt insikt.3 De förstå nämligen icke rättfärdigheten från Gud, utan söka att komma åstad en sin egen rättfärdighet och hava icke givit sig under rättfärdigheten från Gud.4 Ty lagen har fått sin ände i Kristus, till rättfärdighet för var och en som tror.5 Moses skriver ju om den rättfärdighet som kommer av lagen, att den människa som övar sådan rättfärdighet skall leva genom den.6 Men den rättfärdighet som kommer av tro säger så: »Du behöver icke fråga i ditt hjärta: 'Vem vill fara upp till himmelen (nämligen för att hämta Kristus ned)?'7 ej heller: 'Vem vill fara ned till avgrunden (nämligen för att hämta Kristus upp ifrån de döda?'»8 Vad säger den då? »Ordet är dig nära, i din mun och i ditt hjärta (nämligen ordet om tron, det som vi predika).»9 Ty om du med din mun bekänner Jesus vara Herre och i ditt hjärta tror att Gud har uppväckt honom från de döda, då bliver du frälst.10 Ty genom hjärtats tro bliver man rättfärdig, och genom munnens bekännelse bliver man frälst.11 Skriften säger ju: »Ingen som tror på honom skall komma på skam.»12 Det är ingen åtskillnad mellan jude och grek; alla hava ju en och samme Herre, och han har rikedomar att giva åt alla som åkalla honom.13 Ty »var och en som åkallar Herrens namn, han skall varda frälst».14 Men huru skulle de kunna åkalla den som de icke hava kommit till tro på? Och huru skulle de kunna tro den som de icke hava hört? Och huru skulle de kunna höra, om ingen predikade?15 Och huru skulle predikare kunna komma, om de icke bleve sända? Så är och skrivet: »Huru ljuvliga äro icke fotstegen av de män som frambära gott budskap!»16 Dock, icke alla hava blivit evangelium lydiga. Esaias säger ju: »Herre, vem trodde vad som predikades för oss?»17 Alltså kommer tron av predikan, men predikan i kraft av Kristi ord.18 Jag frågar då: Hava de kanhända icke hört predikas? Jo, visserligen; det heter ju: »Deras tal har gått ut över hela jorden, och deras ord till världens ändar.»19 Jag frågar då vidare: Har Israel kanhända icke förstått det? Redan Moses säger: »Jag skall uppväcka eder avund mot ett folk som icke är ett folk; mot ett hednafolk utan förstånd skall jag reta eder till vrede.»20 Och Esaias går så långt, att han säger: »Jag har låtit mig finnas av dem som icke sökte mig, jag har låtit mig bliva uppenbar för dem som icke frågade efter mig.»21 Men om Israel säger han: »Hela dagen har jag uträckt mina händer till ett ohörsamt och gensträvigt folk.»
ROMANS 10
1 Dear friends, my greatest wish and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved. 2 I know they love God, but they don't understand 3 what makes people acceptable to him. So they refuse to trust God, and they try to be acceptable by obeying the Law.
4 But Christ makes the Law no longer necessaryt for those who become acceptable to God by faith.Anyone Can Be Saved
5 t Moses said a person could become acceptable to God by obeying the Law. He did this when he wrote, “If you want to live, you must do all the Law commands.”
6 t But people whose faith makes them acceptable to God will never ask, “Who will go up to heaven to bring Christ down?”
7 Neither will they ask, “Who will go down into the world of the dead to raise him to life?”
8 All who are acceptable because of their faith simply say, “The message is as near as your mouth or your heart.” And this is the same message we preach about faith. 9 So you will be saved, if you honestly say, “Jesus is Lord,” and if you believe with all your heart that God raised him from death.
10 God will accept you and save you, if you truly believe this and tell it to others.
11 t The Scriptures say no one who has faith will be disappointed, 12 no matter if that person is a Jew or a Gentile. There is only one Lord, and he is generous to everyone who asks for his help.
13 t All who call out to the Lord will be saved.
14 How can people have faith in the Lord and ask him to save them, if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear, unless someone tells them? 15 t And how can anyone tell them without being sent by the Lord? The Scriptures say it is a beautiful sight to see even the feet of someone coming to preach the good news.
16 t Yet not everyone has believed the message. For example, the prophet Isaiah asked, “Lord, has anyone believed what we said?”
17 No one can have faith without hearing the message about Christ.
18 t But am I saying that the people of Israel did not hear? No, I am not! The Scriptures say,
“The message was told
everywhere on earth.
It was announced
all over the world.”
19 t Did the people of Israel understand or not? Moses answered this question when he told that the Lord had said,
“I will make Israel jealous
of people
who are a nation
of nobodies.
I will make them angry
with people
who don't understand
a thing.”
20 t Isaiah was fearless enough to tell that the Lord had said,
“I was found by people
who were not looking
for me.
I appeared to the ones
who were not asking
about me.”
21 t And Isaiah said about the people of Israel,
“All day long the Lord
has reached out
to people who are stubborn
and refuse to obey.”
