Romarbrevet 10

1 Kära syskon, jag önskar av hela hjärtat, och jag ber ständigt till Gud, att Israels folk ska bli räddat.2 Jag vet hur ivrigt de kämpar för att tjäna Gud, men de förstår inte vad det är han vill.3 De förstår inte att Gud själv vill göra dem skuldfria inför honom, utan fortsätter att i egen kraft försöka bli felfria. Därför vägrar de också att acceptera hans erbjudande.

4 Men sedan Kristus kom, är Moses lagt inte längre vägen till räddning, eftersom var och en nu kan bli skuldfri inför Gud genom att tro på det Kristus har gjort för oss.

Räddningen gäller alla

5 När det gäller våra möjligheter att bli skuldfria inför Gud genom att lyda Guds lag, lät ju Gud Mose skriva så här: "Den människa som håller alla bud ska få liv genom lagen."t6 Men när det gäller att bli skuldfri inför Gud genom att tro, har Gud sagt i Skriftent: "Du behöver inte fråga dig själv: Vem ska fara upp till himlen?" (det vill säga, för att hämta ner Kristus, så att han kan rädda oss).

7 Eller: "Vem ska fara ner i djupet?" (det vill säga, för att hämta tillbaka Kristus från de döda).
8 Och vad har Gud mer sagt? Jo, att: "Budskapet är nära dig. Det finns i ditt hjärta och på dina läppar" (det vill säga, det budskap om tro på Jesus Kristus som vi sprider).t9 Om du alltså öppet bekänner att Jesus är Herrent och av hela hjärtat tror att Gud har uppväckt honom från de döda, då blir du räddad.10 Det är vårt hjärtas tro som gör oss skuldfria inför Gud, och vår öppna bekännelse som räddar oss.11 Gud har ju sagt i Skriften: "Ingen som tror på honom ska bli besviken."t12 Detta gäller för både judar och andra folk, för vi har alla samma Herre. Och han ger generöst av sitt goda till alla som tillber honom,

13 för det står också i Skriften: "var och en som tillber Herren ska bli räddad"t.

Alla trodde inte på budskapet om Kristus

14 Men om människor ska kunna tillbe Kristus, måste de först tro på honom. Och om de ska kunna tro på honom, måste de först få höra om honom. Och om de ska få höra om honom, måste någon sprida budskapet till dem.15-16 Och den som sprider budskapet, måste vara sänd av någon. Det är detta Gud talar om genom profeten Jesaja, när han säger: "Vad underbart det är när någon kommer med goda nyheter!"t Men alla israelitert trodde inte på de goda nyheterna, för Jesaja säger också: "Herre, vem trodde på vårt budskap?"t

17 Tron kommer alltså av att man hör budskapet, det vill säga, budskapet om Kristus.
18 Men då blir min fråga: Har Israels folk verkligen hört budskapet om Kristus? Jo, visst har de hört det! Det står ju i Skriftent: "Budbärarnas budskap har nått hela jorden, deras ord har nått till världens ände."t19 Men då säger jag: De kanske aldrig förstod budskapet? Jo, visst förstod de det. Redan för länge sedan varnade ju Gud Israels folk och lät säga genom Mose: "Jag ska göra er svartsjuka genom att vända mig till sådana som inte är ett folk. Ja, ni ska bli arga på ett folk som saknar förstånd."t20 Och Gud går så långt, att han genom profeten Jesaja säger: "Jag blev funnen av dem som inte sökte efter mig, och jag visade mig för dem som inte frågade efter mig."t

21 Men om Israels folk säger Gud: "Hela tiden har jag varit beredd att försonas med dem, men de har varit olydiga och upproriska mot mig."t

Romans 10

1 Brothers and sisters,t my heart’s desire and prayer to God on behalf of my fellow Israelitest is for their salvation.2 For I can testify that they are zealous for God,t but their zeal is not in line with the truth.ts3 For ignoring the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking instead to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

4 For Christ is the end of the law, with the result that there is righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 For Moses writes about the righteousness that is by the law: “The one who does these things will live by them.”s6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart,s ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’”s (that is, to bring Christ down)7 or “Who will descend into the abyss?”s (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”s (that is, the word of faith that we preach),9 because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lordt and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousnesst and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation.t11 For the scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”s12 For there is no distinction between the Jew and the Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all, who richly blesses all who call on him.

13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.s
14 How are they to call on one they have not believed in? And how are they to believe in one they have not heard of? And how are they to hear without someone preaching to themt?15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How timelytis the arrivaltof those who proclaim the good news.”s16 But not all have obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”s

17 Consequently faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached wordt of Christ.st
18 But I ask, have theyt not heard?t Yes, they have:tTheir voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.s19 But again I ask, didn’t Israel understand?t First Moses says, “I will make you jealous by those who are not a nation; with a senseless nation I will provoke you to anger.”s20 And Isaiah is even bold enough to say, “I was found by those who did not seek me; I became well known to those who did not ask for me.”s

21 But about Israel he says, “All day long I held out my hands to this disobedient and stubborn people!”s
