ローマ人への手紙 13

一三

1 上に立つ権威に従いなさい。　神様がお立てになった権威だからです。　神様によらない権威はどこにもありません。　2 ですから、国の法律に従わない者は、神様に従うことを拒んでいるのです。　その人は必ず罰せられます。　3 正しいことをしている人は、支配者を恐れません。　しかし、悪いことをしている人は、いつも支配者を恐れるのです。　ですから、びくびくしたくなければ、法律を守りなさい。　そうすれば、安心して過ごせます。　4 支配者は、あなたを助けるために、神様から遣わされているのです。　しかし、何か悪いことをしていれば、支配者はあなたを罰するでしょうから、当然、恐れなければなりません。　そのためにこそ、彼は神様から遣わされているのです。　5 法律に従うには、二つの理由があります。　第一に、罰を受けないためであり、第二に、それを守るべきだとわかっているからです。
6 同じ理由で、税金も納めなさい。　政府の役人が国民のために、神様から与えられた仕事を続けるには、給料が必要だからです。　7 支払うべきものは、だれにでも支払いなさい。　税金や輸入税をすすんで納め、上に立つ人々に従い、敬うべき人を敬い、重んずべき人を重んじなさい。　8 借りがあれば、全部返しなさい。　ただし、他の人を愛するという「借り」だけは別です。　その「借り」だけは、いつまでも返し続けなさい。　というのは、人を愛することは、神様のすべてのおきて、すべての要求にかなうことだからです。　9 自分を愛するように隣人を愛していれば、その人を傷つけたり、だましたり、殺したり、その人のものを盗んだりしたいとは思わないでしょう。またその人の妻と罪を犯すとか、その人のものを欲しがるとかいった、「十戒」で禁じられていることは、何一つしないでしょう。　このように、十戒はすべて、「自分を愛するように、あなたの隣人を愛しなさい」という一つの戒めに含まれるのです。　10 愛はだれにも悪を行ないません。　だからこそ、愛は神様の要求をすべて完全に満たすのです。　愛こそ、あなたがたに必要なただ一つのおきてです。
11 正しい生活をしなければならない、もう一つの理由があります。　すなわち、今や終末に近づいており、時はどんどん過ぎていることに、あなたがたが気づいているからです。　目を覚ましなさい。　初め信じた時より、今はいっそう、主の来られる時が近いからです。　12-13 夜はふけ、昼がすぐそこまで近づいています。　ですから、暗やみに属する悪い行ないを捨てて、昼間生きるため、正しい生活という武具で身をかためなさい。　あなたがたの行為は正しいと、だれからも認められるよう、何をするにも、りっぱに、誠実にふるまいなさい。　どんちゃん騒ぎをしたり、酔っぱらったり、姦淫したり、肉欲にふけったり、争ったり、ねたんだりして時間を浪費してはなりません。　14 当然なすべき正しい生活ができるように、主イエス・キリストに助けを求めなさい。　悪を楽しむような計画を立ててはいけません。

Romans 13

1 Let every soul be in subjection to the higher powers: for there is no power but of God; and the powers that be are ordained of God.2 Therefore he that resisteth the power, withstandeth the ordinance of God: and they that withstand shall receive to themselves judgment.3 For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. And wouldest thou have no fear of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise from the same:4 for he is a minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is a minister of God, an avenger for wrath to him that doeth evil.5 Wherefore ye must needs be in subjection, not only because of the wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.6 For this cause ye pay tribute also; for they are ministers of God’s service, attending continually upon this very thing.7 Render to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.8 Owe no man anything, save to love one another: for he that loveth his neighbor hath fulfilled the law.9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not covet, and if there be any other commandment, it is summed up in this word, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: love therefore is the fulfilment of the law.11 And this, knowing the season, that already it is time for you to awake out of sleep: for now is salvation nearer to us than when we first believed.12 The night is far spent, and the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.13 Let us walk becomingly, as in the day; not in revelling and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy.14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
