Tilhøvet til styresmaktene
1 t Kvar og ein skal vera lydig mot dei styresmaktene han har over seg. For det finst inga styresmakt som ikkje er av Gud, og dei som finst, er innsette av Gud. 2 Den som set seg opp mot styresmakta, står difor imot det Gud har fastsett, og dei som gjer det, skal få sin dom. 3 t For dei som styrer, skaper ikkje frykt hos den som gjer det gode, men hos den som gjer det vonde. Vil du sleppa å vera redd styresmakta? Gjer det som godt er, og du skal få ros. 4 For styresmakta er Guds tenar, til beste for deg. Men gjer du det vonde, har du grunn til å vera redd. Styresmakta ber ikkje sverdet utan grunn, men er Guds tenar som set hans vreidedom i verk over den som gjer det vonde. 5 Difor må de vera lydige, ikkje berre for å sleppa straff, men òg av omsyn til samvitet. 6 Det er òg grunnen til at de betaler skatt. For styresmaktene er Guds tenarar, og dei er sette til å ta hand om slike ting.
7 t Gjev alle det du skuldar dei: Betal skatt til den som skatt skal ha, og toll til den som toll skal ha. Ha respekt for den som har krav på respekt, gjev ære til den de skuldar ære.Kjærleiken er oppfylling av lova
8 t Ha inga skuld til nokon, anna enn det å elska kvarandre. Den som elskar nesten, har oppfylt lova. 9 t For boda: du skal ikkje bryta ekteskapet, du skal ikkje slå i hel, du skal ikkje stela, du skal ikkje lysta, eller kva anna bod det skal vera, dei samlar seg til eitt i dette: Du skal elska nesten din som deg sjølv. 10 t Kjærleiken gjer ikkje noko vondt mot nesten. Difor er kjærleiken oppfylling av lova. 11 t Dessutan veit de kor langt det lid: Timen er komen då de må vakna opp av søvnen, for frelsa er oss nærare no enn då vi kom til trua. 12 tt Natta lid, og det stundar mot dag. Lat oss difor leggja bort dei gjerningane som høyrer mørkret til, og kle oss i den rustning som høyrer lyset til. 13 t Lat oss vandra sømeleg, som på lyse dagen, ikkje i festing og fyll, ikkje i hor og utskeiing, ikkje i strid og misunning. 14 t Men kled dykk i Herren Jesus Kristus, og ha ikkje slik omsorg for kroppen at det vekkjer lyster.

Obey Rulers
1 t Obey the rulers who have authority over you. Only God can give authority to anyone, and he puts these rulers in their places of power. 2 People who oppose the authorities are opposing what God has done, and they will be punished. 3 Rulers are a threat to evil people, not to good people. There is no need to be afraid of the authorities. Just do right, and they will praise you for it.
4 After all, they are God's servants, and it is their duty to help you.
If you do something wrong, you ought to be afraid, because these rulers have the right to punish you. They are God's servants who punish criminals to show how angry God is.
5 But you should obey the rulers because you know it is the right thing to do, and not just because of God's anger.
6 t You must also pay your taxes. The authorities are God's servants, and it is their duty to take care of these matters.
7 Pay all that you owe, whether it is taxes and fees or respect and honor.Love
8 Let love be your only debt! If you love others, you have done all that the Law demands. 9 t In the Law there are many commands, such as, “Be faithful in marriage. Do not murder. Do not steal. Do not want what belongs to others.” But all of these are summed up in the command that says, “Love others as much as you love yourself.”
10 No one who loves others will harm them. So love is all that the Law demands.The Day //When Christ Returns
11 You know what sort of times we live in, and so you should live properly. It is time to wake up. You know that the day when we will be saved is nearer now than when we first put our faith in the Lord. 12 Night is almost over, and day will soon appear. We must stop behaving as people do in the dark and be ready to live in the light. 13 So behave properly, as people do in the day. Don't go to wild parties or get drunk or be vulgar or indecent. Don't quarrel or be jealous. 14 Let the Lord Jesus Christ be as near to you as the clothes you wear. Then you won't try to satisfy your selfish desires.
