Romarane 15
1 Vi som er sterke, må bera veikskapen åt dei veike og ikkje berre tenkja på oss sjølve. t 2 Kvar og ein av oss skal tenkja på nesten og gjera det som er til gagn for han, og som tener til oppbygging. t
3 For Kristus tenkte ikkje på seg sjølv; han oppfylte det som står skrive:t
Spottorda frå dei ¬som spotta deg,
har falle på meg.
4 Og alt som før er skrive, er skrive for at vi skal læra av det: Vi skal få von gjennom det tolmod og den trøyst som skriftene gjev. t 5 Måtte Gud sjølv, han som gjev tolmod og trøyst, gjera dykk samlyndte etter Kristi Jesu vilje. t 6 Då kan de samhuga og med ei røyst prisa Gud, vår Herre Jesu Kristi Far. 7 Difor skal de ta imot kvarandre, liksom Kristus tok imot oss, til Guds ære. 8 Eg seier dykk at Kristus vart ein tenar for dei omskorne for å visa at det Gud har sagt, er sant, og for å stadfesta dei lovnader som fedrane fekk. t
9 Men dei andre folka skal prisa Gud for hans miskunn, som det står skrive:t
Difor vil eg lova deg ¬mellom folka
og prisa ditt namn.
10 Og ein annan stad heiter det:t
Gled dykk, de folkeslag, ¬saman med hans folk!
11 Og endå ein annan stad:t
Lovsyng Herren, alle folk,
pris han, alle ætter!
12 Og Jesaja seier:t
Koma skal Isais rotrenning,
han som reiser seg ¬og rår over folka,
til han skal folkeslaga ¬setja si von.
13 Men Gud, som gjev von, han fylle dykk med all glede og fred i trua, så de kan vera rike på von ved Den Heilage Andens kraft.Tenesta til Paulus og planane hans
14 Eg har den tru om dykk, mine brør, at de er fylte av godleik, og at de har kunnskap nok, så de jamvel kan rettleia kvarandre. 15 Likevel har eg her og der skrive heller djervt for å minna dykk om det som de før har høyrt. Eg gjer det i kraft av den nåde Gud har gjeve meg: t 16 at eg skal vera Kristi Jesu prest mellom folkeslaga. Mi heilage teneste er å forkynna evangeliet, så folkeslaga kan verta eit offer til hugnad for Gud, helga ved Den Heilage Ande. t 17 I Kristus Jesus kan eg prisa meg lukkeleg fordi eg har denne tenesta for Gud. t 18 Men eg vågar ikkje å tala om anna enn det Kristus har gjort ved meg for å føra folkeslaga til lydnad. Dette har eg fått gjera med ord og i gjerning, t 19 ved mektige teikn og under og ved Andens kraft. Så har eg då fullført forkynninga av Kristi evangelium, frå Jerusalem og rundt ikring heilt til Illyria. t t 20 Eg har alltid sett mi ære i å forkynna evangeliet der Kristi namn ikkje er kjent, så eg ikkje skal byggja på ein grunnvoll som andre har lagt, t
21 men som skrive står:t
Dei som ikkje har fått ¬bodskapen om han, ¬skal sjå,
og dei som ikkje har høyrt, ¬skal skjøna.
22 Det er dette som gong på gong har hindra meg i å koma til dykk. t 23 Men no er det ikkje meir å gjera for meg i desse landa, og i fleire år har eg lengta etter å koma til dykk
24 og så halda fram til Spania. Eg vonar at eg skal få sjå dykk når eg fer framom, og at de hjelper meg med det eg treng til ferda dit, når eg fyrst har fått gledt meg ei stund i samværet med dykk.
25 Men no dreg eg til Jerusalem med hjelpa til dei heilage der. t t 26 Kyrkjelydane i Makedonia og Akaia har sett seg føre å samla inn ei gåve til dei fattige mellom dei heilage i Jerusalem. 27 Det vil dei gjerne gjera, og står då òg i skuld til dei. Dei skyldar å hjelpa dei med timelege gåver når dei sjølve, som heidningar, har fått del i deira åndelege gåver. t 28 Når eg har fullført dette, og fruktene av innsamlinga godt og vel er i deira hender, vil eg fara til Spania, og då legg eg vegen om dykk.
29 Og eg veit at når eg kjem til dykk, skal eg koma med ein rikdom av Kristi velsigning.t
30 Eg legg dykk på hjarta, brør, for vår Herre Jesu Kristi skuld og for den kjærleik som Anden gjev: Strid saman med meg i bøn til Gud for meg. t 31 Bed om at eg må verta berga frå dei vantruande i Judea, og at dei heilage i Jerusalem må ta vel imot den hjelpa eg har med. t 32 Då kan eg, om Gud så vil, koma til dykk med glede, og få kvila ut saman med dykk. 33 Fredens Gud vere med dykk alle! Amen.t
ROMANS 15
Please Others and Not Yourself
1 If our faith is strong, we should be patient with the Lord's followers whose faith is weak. We should try to please them instead of ourselves. 2 We should think of their good and try to help them by doing what pleases them. 3 t Even Christ did not try to please himself. But as the Scriptures say, “The people who insulted you also insulted me.” 4 t And the Scriptures were written to teach and encourage us by giving us hope. 5 God is the one who makes us patient and cheerful. I pray that he will help you live at peace with each other, as you follow Christ.
6 Then all of you together will praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.The Good News Is for Jews //and Gentiles
7 Honor God by accepting each other, as Christ has accepted you. 8 I tell you that Christ came as a servant of the Jews to show that God has kept the promises he made to their famous ancestors. Christ also came,
9 t so that the Gentiles would praise God for being kind to them. It is just as the Scriptures say,
“I will tell the nations
about you,
and I will sing praises
to your name.”
10 t The Scriptures also say to the Gentiles, “Come and celebrate with God's people.”
11 t Again the Scriptures say,
“Praise the Lord,
all you Gentiles.
All you nations, come
and worship him.”
12 t Isaiah says,
“Someone from David's family
will come to power.
He will rule the nations,
and they will put their hope
in him.”
13 I pray that God, who gives hope, will bless you with complete happiness and peace because of your faith. And may the power of the Holy Spirit fill you with hope.Paul's Work as a Missionary
14 My friends, I am sure that you are very good and that you have all the knowledge you need to teach each other. 15 But I have spoken to you plainly and have tried to remind you of some things. God treated me with undeserved grace!
16 He chose me to be a servant of Christ Jesus for the Gentiles and to do the work of a priest in the service of his good news. God did this so that the Holy Spirit could make the Gentiles into a holy offering, pleasing to him.
17 Because of Christ Jesus, I can take pride in my service for God. 18 In fact, all I will talk about is how Christ let me speak and work, so that the Gentiles would obey him. 19 Indeed, I will tell how Christ worked miracles and wonders by the power of the Holy Spirit. I have preached the good news about him all the way from Jerusalem to Illyricum. 20 But I have always tried to preach where people have never heard about Christ. I am like a builder who doesn't build on someone else's foundation.
21 t It is just as the Scriptures say,
“All who haven't been told
about him
will see him,
and those who haven't heard
about him
will understand.”Paul's Plan To Visit Rome
22 t My work has always kept me from coming to see you. 23 Now there is nothing left for me to do in this part of the world, and for years I have wanted to visit you.
24 So I plan to stop off on my way to Spain. Then after a short, but refreshing, visit with you, I hope you will quickly send me on.
25-26 t I am now on my way to Jerusalem to deliver the money that the Lord's followers in Macedonia and Achaia collected for God's needy people. 27 t This is something they really wanted to do. But sharing their money with the Jews was also like paying back a debt, because the Jews had already shared their spiritual blessings with the Gentiles. 28 After I have safely delivered this money, I will visit you and then go on to Spain.
29 And when I do arrive in Rome, I know it will be with the full blessings of Christ.
30 My friends, by the power of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the love that comes from the Holy Spirit, I beg you to pray sincerely with me and for me. 31 Pray that God will protect me from the unbelievers in Judea, and that his people in Jerusalem will be pleased with what I am doing. 32 Ask God to let me come to you and have a pleasant and refreshing visit. 33 I pray that God, who gives peace, will be with all of you. Amen.
