로마서 15

덕을 세워라

1 믿음이 강한 우리는 믿음이 약한 사람들의 약점을 돌보아 주어야 합니다. 우리는 자기에게 좋을 대로만 해서는 안 됩니다. 2 우리는 저마다 자기 이웃의 마음에 들게 행동하면서, 유익을 주고 덕을 세워야 합니다. 3 그리스도께서도 자기에게 좋을 대로만 하지 않으셨습니다. 성경에 기록하기를 t“주님을 비방하는 자들의 비방이 내게 떨어졌다” 한 것과 같습니다. 4 무엇이든지 전에 기록한 것은, 우리에게 교훈을 주려고 한 것이며, 성경이 주는 인내와 위로로써, 우리로 하여금 소망을 가지게 하려고 한 것입니다. 5 인내심과 위로를 주시는 하나님께서, 여러분이 그리스도 예수를 본받아 같은 생각을 품게 하시고, 6 한 마음과 한 입으로 하나님 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 해주시기를 빕니다.

유대인과 이방인이 하나님을 찬양하다

7 그러므로 그리스도께서 하나님의 영광을 드러내시려고 여러분을 받아들이신 것과 같이, 여러분도 서로 받아들이십시오. 8 내가 말하는 것은 이러합니다. 그리스도께서는 하나님의 진실하심을 드러내시려고 t할례를 받은 사람의 종이 되셨으니, 그것은 하나님께서 조상에게 주신 약속들을 확증하시고, 9 이방 사람들도 긍휼히 여기심을 받아서, 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 하시려고 한 것입니다. 기록된 바 t“그러므로 내가 이방 사람들 가운데서 주님께 찬양을 드리며, 주님의 이름을 찬미합니다” 한 것과 같습니다.

10 또 t“이방 사람들아, 주님의 백성과 함께 즐거워하여라” 하였으며,

11 또 t“모든 이방 사람들은 주님을 찬양하여라. 모든 백성들아, 주님을 찬양하여라” 하였습니다.

12 그리고 이사야가 말하기를 t“이새의 뿌리에서 싹이 나서 이방 사람을 다스릴 이가 일어날 것이니, 이방 사람은 그에게 소망을 둘 것이다” 하였습니다.

13 소망을 주시는 하나님께서, 믿음에서 오는 모든 기쁨과 평화를 여러분에게 충만하게 주셔서, 성령의 능력으로, 소망이 여러분에게 차고 넘치기를 바랍니다.

바울의 사도직의 근거

14 나의 형제자매 여러분, 나는, 여러분 마음에 선함이 가득하고, 온갖 지식이 넘쳐서, 서로 권면할 능력이 있음을 확신합니다. 15 그러나 내가 몇 가지 점에 대해서 매우 담대하게 쓴 것은, 하나님께서 내게 주신 은혜를 힘입어서, 여러분의 기억을 새롭게 하려고 한 것입니다. 16 하나님께서 이 은혜를 내게 주신 것은, 나로 하여금 이방 사람에게 보내심을 받은 그리스도 예수의 일꾼이 되게 하여, 하나님의 복음을 전하는 제사장의 직무를 수행하게 하시려는 것입니다. 그리하여 이방 사람들로 하여금 성령으로 거룩하게 되게 하여, 하나님께서 기쁨으로 받으실 제물이 되게 하시려는 것입니다. 17 그러므로 나는 하나님을 섬기는 일을 그리스도 예수 안에서 자랑스럽게 생각합니다. 18 그리스도께서 이방 사람들을 복종하게 하시려고 나를 시켜서 이루어 놓으신 것 밖에는, 아무것도 감히 말하지 않겠습니다. 그 일은 말과 행동으로, 19 표징과 이적의 능력으로, t성령의 권능으로 이루어졌습니다. 그래서 나는, 예루살렘에서 일루리곤에 이르기까지 두루 다니면서, 그리스도의 복음을 남김없이 전파하였습니다. 20 나는 이와 같이, 그리스도의 이름이 알려진 곳 말고, 알려지지 않은 곳에서 t복음을 전하는 것을 명예로 삼았습니다. 나는 남이 닦아 놓은 터 위에다가 집을 짓지 않으려 하였습니다. 21 성경에 이렇게 기록한 바, t“그의 일을 알지 못하던 사람들이 보게 될 것이요, 듣지 못하던 사람들이 깨닫게 될 것이다” 한 것과 같습니다.

바울의 로마 방문 계획

22 그래서 내가 여러분에게로 가려고 하였으나, 여러 번 길이 막혔습니다. 23 그러나 이제는 이 지역에서, 내가 일해야 할 곳이 더 없습니다. 여러 해 전부터 여러분에게로 가기를 바라고 있었으므로, 내가 스페인으로 갈 때에, 24 지나가는 길에 여러분을 만나 보고, 잠시 동안만이라도 여러분과 먼저 기쁨을 나누려고 합니다. 그 다음에 여러분의 후원을 얻어, 그 곳으로 가게 되기를 바랍니다. 25 그러나 지금 나는 성도들을 돕는 일로 예루살렘에 갑니다. 26 마케도니아와 아가야 사람들이 기쁜 마음으로, 예루살렘에 사는 성도들 가운데 가난한 사람들에게 보낼 구제금을 마련하였기 때문입니다. 27 그들은 기쁜 마음으로 그렇게 하였습니다. 그들은 정말로 예루살렘 성도들에게 빚을 진 사람들입니다. 이방 사람들은 그들에게서 신령한 복을 나누어 받았으니, 육신의 생활에 필요한 것으로 그들에게 봉사할 의무가 있습니다. 28 그러므로 나는 이 일을 마치고, 그들에게 이 열매를 확실하게 전해 준 뒤에, 여러분에게 들렀다가 스페인으로 가겠습니다. 29 내가 여러분에게 갈 때에, 그리스도의 충만한 복을 가지고 갈 것으로 압니다. 30  t형제자매 여러분, 내가 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 힘입어서, 그리고 성령의 사랑을 힘입어서 여러분에게 부탁합니다. 나도 기도합니다만, 여러분도 나를 위하여 하나님께 열심으로 기도해 주십시오. 31 내가 유대에 있는 믿지 않는 자들에게서 화를 당하지 않도록, 그리고 또 내가 예루살렘으로 가져가는 구제금이 그 곳 성도들에게 기쁘게 받아들여지도록 기도해 주십시오. 32 그래서 내가 하나님의 뜻을 따라 기쁨을 안고 여러분에게로 가서, 여러분과 함께 즐겁게 쉴 수 있게 되도록 기도해 주십시오. 33 평화를 주시는 하나님께서 여러분 모두와 함께 하시기를 빕니다. t아멘.

ROMANS 15

Please Others and Not Yourself

1 If our faith is strong, we should be patient with the Lord's followers whose faith is weak. We should try to please them instead of ourselves. 2 We should think of their good and try to help them by doing what pleases them. 3 t Even Christ did not try to please himself. But as the Scriptures say, “The people who insulted you also insulted me.” 4 t And the Scriptures were written to teach and encourage us by giving us hope. 5 God is the one who makes us patient and cheerful. I pray that he will help you live at peace with each other, as you follow Christ.

6 Then all of you together will praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Good News Is for Jews //and Gentiles

7 Honor God by accepting each other, as Christ has accepted you. 8 I tell you that Christ came as a servant of the Jews to show that God has kept the promises he made to their famous ancestors. Christ also came,

9 t so that the Gentiles would praise God for being kind to them. It is just as the Scriptures say,
“I will tell the nations
about you,
and I will sing praises
to your name.”

10  t The Scriptures also say to the Gentiles, “Come and celebrate with God's people.”

11  t Again the Scriptures say,
“Praise the Lord,
all you Gentiles.
All you nations, come
and worship him.”

12  t Isaiah says,
“Someone from David's family
will come to power.
He will rule the nations,
and they will put their hope
in him.”

13 I pray that God, who gives hope, will bless you with complete happiness and peace because of your faith. And may the power of the Holy Spirit fill you with hope.

Paul's Work as a Missionary

14 My friends, I am sure that you are very good and that you have all the knowledge you need to teach each other. 15 But I have spoken to you plainly and have tried to remind you of some things. God treated me with undeserved grace!

16 He chose me to be a servant of Christ Jesus for the Gentiles and to do the work of a priest in the service of his good news. God did this so that the Holy Spirit could make the Gentiles into a holy offering, pleasing to him.
17 Because of Christ Jesus, I can take pride in my service for God. 18 In fact, all I will talk about is how Christ let me speak and work, so that the Gentiles would obey him. 19 Indeed, I will tell how Christ worked miracles and wonders by the power of the Holy Spirit. I have preached the good news about him all the way from Jerusalem to Illyricum. 20 But I have always tried to preach where people have never heard about Christ. I am like a builder who doesn't build on someone else's foundation.

21 t It is just as the Scriptures say,
“All who haven't been told
about him
will see him,
and those who haven't heard
about him
will understand.”

Paul's Plan To Visit Rome

22  t My work has always kept me from coming to see you. 23 Now there is nothing left for me to do in this part of the world, and for years I have wanted to visit you.

24 So I plan to stop off on my way to Spain. Then after a short, but refreshing, visit with you, I hope you will quickly send me on.
25-26  t I am now on my way to Jerusalem to deliver the money that the Lord's followers in Macedonia and Achaia collected for God's needy people. 27 t This is something they really wanted to do. But sharing their money with the Jews was also like paying back a debt, because the Jews had already shared their spiritual blessings with the Gentiles. 28 After I have safely delivered this money, I will visit you and then go on to Spain.

29 And when I do arrive in Rome, I know it will be with the full blessings of Christ.
30 My friends, by the power of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the love that comes from the Holy Spirit, I beg you to pray sincerely with me and for me. 31 Pray that God will protect me from the unbelievers in Judea, and that his people in Jerusalem will be pleased with what I am doing. 32 Ask God to let me come to you and have a pleasant and refreshing visit. 33 I pray that God, who gives peace, will be with all of you. Amen.
