Romanos 15

Ayudar a los más débiles

1 Nosotros, los que sí sabemos lo que Dios quiere, no debemos pensar sólo en lo que es bueno para nosotros mismos. Más bien, debemos ayudar a los que todavía no tienen esa seguridad.2 Todos debemos apoyar a los demás, y buscar su bien. Así los ayudaremos a confiar más en Dios.3 Porque ni aun Cristo pensaba sólo en lo que le agradaba a él. Como Dios dice en la Biblia : «Me siento ofendido cuando te ofenden a ti.»4 Todo lo que está escrito en la Biblia es para enseñarnos. Lo que ella nos dice nos ayuda a tener ánimo y paciencia, y nos da seguridad en lo que hemos creído.5 Aunque, en realidad, es Dios quien nos da paciencia y nos anima. A él le pido que los ayude a ustedes a llevarse bien con todos, siguiendo el ejemplo de Jesucristo.

6 Así, todos juntos podrán alabar a Dios el Padre.

La buena noticia es para todos

7 Por eso, es necesario que se acepten unos a otros tal y como son, así como Cristo los aceptó a ustedes. Así, todos alabarán a Dios.8 Pues Cristo vino y sirvió a los judíos, para mostrar que Dios es fiel y cumple las promesas que les hizo a nuestros antepasados .

9 También vino para que los que no son judíos den gracias a Dios por su bondad. Pues así dice la Biblia :

«Por eso te alabaré
en todos los países,
y te cantaré himnos.»

10 También leemos:

«Y ustedes, pueblos vecinos,
alégrense junto con el pueblo de Dios.»

11 En otra parte, la Biblia dice:

«Naciones todas, pueblos todos,
¡alaben a Dios!»

12 Y también el profeta Isaías escribió:

«Un descendiente de Jesé t
se levantará con poder.

Él gobernará a las naciones,
y ellas confiarán sólo en él.»

13 Que Dios, quien nos da seguridad, los llene de alegría. Que les dé la paz que trae el confiar en él. Y que, por el poder del Espíritu Santo, los llene de esperanza.

El trabajo de Pablo como apóstol

14 Hermanos en Cristo, estoy seguro de que ustedes son muy buenos y están llenos de conocimientos, pues saben aconsejarse unos a otros.15 Sin embargo, me he atrevido a escribirles abiertamente acerca de algunas cosas, para que no las olviden. Lo hago porque Dios ha sido bueno conmigo,

16 y porque me eligió para servir a Jesucristo y ayudar a los que no son judíos. Debo ser para ellos como un sacerdote , que les anuncie la buena noticia de Dios y los lleve a su presencia como una ofrenda agradable, dedicada sólo para él por medio del Espíritu Santo.
17 Por lo que Jesucristo ha hecho en mí, puedo sentirme orgulloso de mi servicio a Dios.18 En realidad, sólo hablaré de lo que Cristo hizo a través de mí, para lograr que los no judíos obedezcan a Dios. Y lo he logrado, no sólo por medio de mis palabras, sino también por mis hechos.19 Por el poder del Espíritu Santo he hecho muchos milagros y maravillas, y he anunciado la buena noticia por todas partes, desde Jerusalén hasta la región de Iliria.20 Siempre he tratado de anunciar a Cristo en regiones donde nadie antes hubiera oído hablar de él. Así, al anunciar la buena noticia, no me he aprovechado del trabajo anterior de otros apóstoles .

21 Más bien, he querido hacer lo que dice la Biblia :

«Lo verán y lo comprenderán
aquellos que nunca antes
habían oído hablar de él.»

Pablo piensa visitar Roma

22-23 Hermanos míos, muchas veces he querido ir a Roma, para visitarlos. No he podido hacerlo porque el anunciar las buenas noticias me ha mantenido muy ocupado. Pero, como ya terminé mi trabajo en esta región, y como ya hace tiempo he querido verlos,

24 pienso pasar por allí cuando vaya a España. No podré quedarme mucho tiempo con ustedes, pero sé que disfrutaré de su compañía, y espero que me ayuden a seguir mi viaje.
25 Ahora voy a Jerusalén, a llevar un dinero para los seguidores de Cristo que viven allí.26 Ese dinero lo recogieron las iglesias de las regiones de Macedonia y Acaya, para ayudar a los cristianos pobres de Jerusalén.27 Lo hicieron de manera voluntaria, aunque en realidad estaban obligados a hacerlo. Porque si los cristianos judíos compartieron sus riquezas espirituales con los cristianos que no son judíos, también los no judíos deben compartir con los judíos sus riquezas materiales.28 En cuanto yo termine con este asunto y haya entregado el dinero a los cristianos de Jerusalén, saldré hacia España, y de paso los visitaré a ustedes.

29 Estoy seguro de que, cuando llegue a la ciudad de Roma, compartiré con ustedes todo lo bueno que hemos recibido de Cristo.
30 Yo les ruego, hermanos míos, por nuestro Señor Jesucristo y por el amor que nos da el Espíritu Santo, que oren mucho a Dios por mí.31 Pídanle que en la región de Judea me proteja de los que no creen en él, y que el dinero que llevo a los hermanos de Jerusalén sea bien recibido.32 Entonces podré visitarlos lleno de alegría, y disfrutar de un tiempo de descanso entre ustedes, si es que Dios así lo permite.

33 Que Dios, quien nos da paz, esté con cada uno de ustedes. Amén .

ROMANS 15

Please Others and Not Yourself

1 If our faith is strong, we should be patient with the Lord's followers whose faith is weak. We should try to please them instead of ourselves. 2 We should think of their good and try to help them by doing what pleases them. 3 t Even Christ did not try to please himself. But as the Scriptures say, “The people who insulted you also insulted me.” 4 t And the Scriptures were written to teach and encourage us by giving us hope. 5 God is the one who makes us patient and cheerful. I pray that he will help you live at peace with each other, as you follow Christ.

6 Then all of you together will praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Good News Is for Jews //and Gentiles

9 t so that the Gentiles would praise God for being kind to them. It is just as the Scriptures say,
“I will tell the nations
about you,
and I will sing praises
to your name.”

10  t The Scriptures also say to the Gentiles, “Come and celebrate with God's people.”

11  t Again the Scriptures say,
“Praise the Lord,
all you Gentiles.
All you nations, come
and worship him.”

12  t Isaiah says,
“Someone from David's family
will come to power.
He will rule the nations,
and they will put their hope
in him.”

13 I pray that God, who gives hope, will bless you with complete happiness and peace because of your faith. And may the power of the Holy Spirit fill you with hope.

Paul's Work as a Missionary

16 He chose me to be a servant of Christ Jesus for the Gentiles and to do the work of a priest in the service of his good news. God did this so that the Holy Spirit could make the Gentiles into a holy offering, pleasing to him.
17 Because of Christ Jesus, I can take pride in my service for God. 18 In fact, all I will talk about is how Christ let me speak and work, so that the Gentiles would obey him. 19 Indeed, I will tell how Christ worked miracles and wonders by the power of the Holy Spirit. I have preached the good news about him all the way from Jerusalem to Illyricum. 20 But I have always tried to preach where people have never heard about Christ. I am like a builder who doesn't build on someone else's foundation.

21 t It is just as the Scriptures say,
“All who haven't been told
about him
will see him,
and those who haven't heard
about him
will understand.”

Paul's Plan To Visit Rome

24 So I plan to stop off on my way to Spain. Then after a short, but refreshing, visit with you, I hope you will quickly send me on.
25-26  t I am now on my way to Jerusalem to deliver the money that the Lord's followers in Macedonia and Achaia collected for God's needy people. 27 t This is something they really wanted to do. But sharing their money with the Jews was also like paying back a debt, because the Jews had already shared their spiritual blessings with the Gentiles. 28 After I have safely delivered this money, I will visit you and then go on to Spain.

29 And when I do arrive in Rome, I know it will be with the full blessings of Christ.
30 My friends, by the power of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the love that comes from the Holy Spirit, I beg you to pray sincerely with me and for me. 31 Pray that God will protect me from the unbelievers in Judea, and that his people in Jerusalem will be pleased with what I am doing. 32 Ask God to let me come to you and have a pleasant and refreshing visit. 33 I pray that God, who gives peace, will be with all of you. Amen.
