Romanos 3

1 Entonces, ¿qué ventaja tiene el judío? ¿De qué sirve la circuncisión?2 De mucho, y por muchas razones. En primer lugar, a los judíos se les confió la palabra de Dios.3 Pero entonces, si algunos de ellos no fueron fieles, ¿su falta de fe anulará la fidelidad de Dios?

4 ¡De ninguna manera! Dios es siempre veraz aunque todo hombre sea mentiroso. Como está escrito:«Para que seas justificado en tus palabras,
Y salgas airoso cuando seas juzgado.»t


5 Entonces, ¿qué diremos si nuestra injusticia hace resaltar la justicia de Dios? ¿Que Dios es injusto cuando nos castiga? (Hablo como hombre.)6 ¡De ninguna manera! Pues si Dios fuera injusto, ¿cómo juzgaría al mundo?7 Pero si mi mentira sirve para que la verdad de Dios abunde para su gloria, ¿por qué todavía soy juzgado como pecador?8 ¿Y por qué no decir: «Hagamos males para que vengan bienes»? Así nos calumnian algunos que afirman que eso es lo que enseñamos. ¡Estas personas se tienen bien merecida la condenación!

No hay justo

9 ¿Entonces, qué? ¿Somos nosotros mejores que ellos? ¡De ninguna manera! Porque ya hemos demostrado que todos, judíos y no judíos, están bajo el pecado.10 Como está escrito:«¡No hay ni uno solo que sea justo!
11 No hay quien entienda;
no hay quien busque a Dios.
12 Todos se desviaron, a una se han corrompido.
No hay quien haga lo bueno, ¡no hay ni siquiera uno!t
13 Su garganta es un sepulcro abierto,
y con su lengua engañan.t
¡En sus labios hay veneno de serpientes!t
14 Su boca está llena de maldición y de amargura.t
15 Sus pies son veloces para derramar sangre.
16 Destrucción y desgracia hay en sus caminos,
17 Y no conocen el camino de la paz.t

18 No hay temor de Dios delante de sus ojos.»t

19 Pero sabemos que todo lo que dice la ley, se lo dice a los que están bajo la ley, para que todos callen y caigan bajo el juicio de Dios,20 ya que nadie será justificado delante de Dios por hacer las cosas que la ley exige,t pues la ley sirve para reconocer el pecado.

La justicia viene por medio de la fe

21 Pero ahora, aparte de la ley, se ha manifestado la justicia de Dios, y de ello dan testimonio la ley y los profetas.22 La justicia de Dios, por medio de la fe en Jesucristo,t es para todos los que creen en él. Pues no hay diferencia alguna,23 por cuanto todos pecaron y están destituidos de la gloria de Dios;24 pero son justificados gratuitamente por su gracia, mediante la redención que proveyó Cristo Jesús,25 a quien Dios puso como sacrificio de expiación por medio de la fe en su sangre. Esto lo hizo Dios para manifestar su justicia, pues en su paciencia ha pasado por alto los pecados pasados,26 para manifestar su justicia en este tiempo, a fin de que él sea el justo y, al mismo tiempo, el que justifica al que tiene fe en Jesús.

27 Entonces, ¿dónde está la jactancia? Queda excluida. ¿Por cuál ley? ¿Por la de las obras? No, sino por la ley de la fe.28 Por lo tanto, llegamos a la conclusión de que el hombre es justificado por la fe, sin las obras de la ley.29 ¿Acaso Dios es solamente Dios de los judíos? ¿No es también Dios de los no judíos? Ciertamente, también es Dios de los no judíos.30 Porque Dios es uno, y él justificará por la fe a los que están circuncidados, y por medio de la fe a los que no lo están.31 Entonces, ¿por la fe invalidamos la ley? ¡De ninguna manera! Más bien confirmamos la ley.

ROMANS 3

1 What good is it to be a Jew? What good is it to be circumcised? 2 It is good in a lot of ways! First of all, God's messages were spoken to the Jews. 3 It is true that some of them did not believe the message. But does this mean that God cannot be trusted, just because they did not have faith?

4 t No, indeed! God tells the truth, even if everyone else is a liar. The Scriptures say about God,
“Your words
will be proven true,
and in court
you will win your case.”
5 If our evil deeds show how right God is, then what can we say? Is it wrong for God to become angry and punish us? What a foolish thing to ask. 6 But the answer is, “No.” Otherwise, how could God judge the world? 7 Since your lies bring great honor to God by showing how truthful he is, you may ask why God still says you are a sinner.

8 You might as well say, “Let's do something evil, so that something good will come of it!” Some people even claim that we are saying this. But God is fair and will judge them as well.

No One Is Good

10 t The Scriptures tell us,
“No one is acceptable to God!

11 Not one of them understands
or even searches for God.

12 They have all turned away
and are worthless.
There isn't one person
who does right.

13  t Their words are like
an open pit,
and their tongues are good
only for telling lies.
Each word is as deadly
as the fangs of a snake,

14  t and they say nothing
but bitter curses.

15  t These people quickly
become violent.

16 Wherever they go,
they leave ruin
and destruction.

17 They don't know how
to live in peace.

18  t They don't even fear God.”
19 We know that everything in the Law was written for those who are under its power. The Law says these things to stop anyone from making excuses and to let God show that the whole world is guilty.

20 t God doesn't accept people simply because they obey the Law. No, indeed! All the Law does is to point out our sin.

God's Way //of Accepting People

25-26 t God sent Christ to be our sacrifice. Christ offered his life's blood, so by faith in him we could come to God. And God did this to show that in the past he was right to be patient and forgive sinners. This also shows that God is right when he accepts people who have faith in Jesus.
27 What is left for us to brag about? Not a thing! Is it because we obeyed some law? No! It is because of faith. 28 We see that people are acceptable to God because they have faith, and not because they obey the Law. 29 Does God belong only to the Jews? Isn't he also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, he is! 30 t There is only one God, and he accepts Gentiles as well as Jews, simply because of their faith. 31 Do we destroy the Law by our faith? Not at all! We make it even more powerful.
