ROMANOS 3
1 ¿Qué ventaja tiene, pues, el judío? ¿o de qué aprovecha la circuncisión? 2 Mucho, en todas maneras. Primero, ciertamente, que les ha sido confiada la palabra de Dios. 3 ¿Pues qué, si algunos de ellos han sido incrédulos? ¿Su incredulidad habrá hecho nula la fidelidad de Dios?
4 De ninguna manera; antes bien sea Dios veraz, y todo hombre mentiroso; como está escrito:
Para que seas justificado en tus palabras,
Y venzas cuando fueres juzgado.t
5 Y si nuestra injusticia hace resaltar la justicia de Dios, ¿qué diremos? ¿Será injusto Dios que da castigo? (Hablo como hombre.) 6 En ninguna manera; de otro modo, ¿cómo juzgaría Dios al mundo? 7 Pero si por mi mentira la verdad de Dios abundó para su gloria, ¿por qué aún soy juzgado como pecador?
8 ¿Y por qué no decir (como se nos calumnia, y como algunos, cuya condenación es justa, afirman que nosotros decimos): Hagamos males para que vengan bienes?No hay justo
9 ¿Qué, pues? ¿Somos nosotros mejores que ellos? En ninguna manera; pues ya hemos acusado a judíos y a gentiles, que todos están bajo pecado.
10 Como está escrito:
No hay justo, ni aun uno;
11 No hay quien entienda,
No hay quien busque a Dios.
12 Todos se desviaron, a una se hicieron inútiles;
No hay quien haga lo bueno, no hay ni siquiera uno.t
13 Sepulcro abierto es su garganta;
Con su lengua engañan.t
Veneno de áspides hay debajo de sus labios;t
14 Su boca está llena de maldición y de amargura.t
15 Sus pies se apresuran para derramar sangre;
16 Quebranto y desventura hay en sus caminos;
17 Y no conocieron camino de paz.t
18 No hay temor de Dios delante de sus ojos.t
19 Pero sabemos que todo lo que la ley dice, lo dice a los que están bajo la ley, para que toda boca se cierre y todo el mundo quede bajo el juicio de Dios;
20 ya que por las obras de la ley ningún ser humano será justificado delante de él;t porque por medio de la ley es el conocimiento del pecado.La justicia es por medio de la fe
21 Pero ahora, aparte de la ley, se ha manifestado la justicia de Dios, testificada por la ley y por los profetas; 22 la justicia de Dios por medio de la fe en Jesucristo,t para todos los que creen en él. Porque no hay diferencia, 23 por cuanto todos pecaron, y están destituidos de la gloria de Dios, 24 siendo justificados gratuitamente por su gracia, mediante la redención que es en Cristo Jesús, 25 a quien Dios puso como propiciación por medio de la fe en su sangre, para manifestar su justicia, a causa de haber pasado por alto, en su paciencia, los pecados pasados,
26 con la mira de manifestar en este tiempo su justicia, a fin de que él sea el justo, y el que justifica al que es de la fe de Jesús.
27 ¿Dónde, pues, está la jactancia? Queda excluida. ¿Por cuál ley? ¿Por la de las obras? No, sino por la ley de la fe. 28 Concluimos, pues, que el hombre es justificado por fe sin las obras de la ley. 29 ¿Es Dios solamente Dios de los judíos? ¿No es también Dios de los gentiles? Ciertamente, también de los gentiles. 30 Porque Dios es uno, y él justificará por la fe a los de la circuncisión, y por medio de la fe a los de la incircuncisión. 31 ¿Luego por la fe invalidamos la ley? En ninguna manera, sino que confirmamos la ley.
ROMANS 3
1 What good is it to be a Jew? What good is it to be circumcised? 2 It is good in a lot of ways! First of all, God's messages were spoken to the Jews. 3 It is true that some of them did not believe the message. But does this mean that God cannot be trusted, just because they did not have faith?
4 t No, indeed! God tells the truth, even if everyone else is a liar. The Scriptures say about God,
“Your words
will be proven true,
and in court
you will win your case.”
5 If our evil deeds show how right God is, then what can we say? Is it wrong for God to become angry and punish us? What a foolish thing to ask. 6 But the answer is, “No.” Otherwise, how could God judge the world? 7 Since your lies bring great honor to God by showing how truthful he is, you may ask why God still says you are a sinner.
8 You might as well say, “Let's do something evil, so that something good will come of it!” Some people even claim that we are saying this. But God is fair and will judge them as well.No One Is Good
9 What does all this mean? Does it mean that we Jews are better offt than the Gentiles? No, it doesn't! Jews, as well as Gentiles, are ruled by sin, just as I have said.
10 t The Scriptures tell us,
“No one is acceptable to God!
11 Not one of them understands
or even searches for God.
12 They have all turned away
and are worthless.
There isn't one person
who does right.
13 t Their words are like
an open pit,
and their tongues are good
only for telling lies.
Each word is as deadly
as the fangs of a snake,
14 t and they say nothing
but bitter curses.
15 t These people quickly
become violent.
16 Wherever they go,
they leave ruin
and destruction.
17 They don't know how
to live in peace.
18 t They don't even fear God.”
19 We know that everything in the Law was written for those who are under its power. The Law says these things to stop anyone from making excuses and to let God show that the whole world is guilty.
20 t God doesn't accept people simply because they obey the Law. No, indeed! All the Law does is to point out our sin.God's Way //of Accepting People
21 Now we see how God does make us acceptable to him. The Law and the Prophetst tell how we become acceptable, and it isn't by obeying the Law of Moses. 22 t God treats everyone alike. He accepts people only because they have faith in Jesus Christ. 23 All of us have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. 24 But God treats us much better than we deserve, and because of Christ Jesus, he freely accepts us and sets us free from our sins.
25-26 t God sent Christ to be our sacrifice. Christ offered his life's blood, so by faith in him we could come to God. And God did this to show that in the past he was right to be patient and forgive sinners. This also shows that God is right when he accepts people who have faith in Jesus.
27 What is left for us to brag about? Not a thing! Is it because we obeyed some law? No! It is because of faith. 28 We see that people are acceptable to God because they have faith, and not because they obey the Law. 29 Does God belong only to the Jews? Isn't he also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, he is! 30 t There is only one God, and he accepts Gentiles as well as Jews, simply because of their faith. 31 Do we destroy the Law by our faith? Not at all! We make it even more powerful.
