五

1 そういうわけで、私たちは、神様の約束を信じる信仰によって、神の目から見て正しい者とされているのですから、今や神様との間に真の平和を得ています。　それは、私たちの主イエス・キリストのおかげです。　2 信仰のゆえに、キリスト様は私たちを、いま立っている、この最高の特権ある立場に導いてくださいました。　そして私たちは、神様の私たちに対する計画がすべて実現するのを、確信と喜びにあふれて待ち望んでいるのです。
3 私たちはさらに、さまざまの問題や困難に直面した時も喜ぶことができます。　それは忍耐を学ぶのに役立つからです。　4 忍耐によって、私たちの人格は筋金入りにされ、ひいては神様への信頼を深められるのです。　こうしてついに、私たちの希望と信仰は、強く、何ものにも動じなくなるのです。　5 そうなった時、どんなことが起ころうと失望落胆せず、また、万事が益であるとわかります。　それは、神様がどんなに深く愛していてくださるか、わかるからです。　私たちは、そのあたたかい愛を全身で感じています。　それは、神様が聖霊様を与えてくださり、その聖霊様が私たちの心に、神様の愛を満たしてくださっているからです。
6 私たちが逃れる道もなく、全く窮地に陥っていた、まさにその時、キリスト様はおいでになり、何の役にも立たない、私たち罪人のために死んでくださいました。　7 たとい私たちが良い人間であったとしても、だれかが自分のために死んでくれるなどとは、考えてもみなかったでしょう。　もちろん、そういう可能性が全然ないわけではありませんが。　8 しかし、私たちがまだ罪人であった時に、神様はキリスト様を遣わしてくださいました。　そのキリスト様が私たちのために死んだことにより、神様は私たちに、大きな愛を示してくださったのです。　9 キリスト様は、罪人のために、血さえ流してくださったのですから、神様が私たちを無罪と宣言した今は、もっとすばらしいことをしてくださるに違いありません。　今やキリスト様は、やがて来る神様の怒りから、完全に救い出してくださるのです。　10 私たちが神様の敵であった時に、神のひとり息子の死によって、神様のもとに連れ戻されたくらいですから、私たちが神様の友となり、神様が私たちのうちに生きておられる今、どんなにすばらしい祝福が備えられていることでしょう。
11 今や私たちは、神様との驚くべき新しい関係を心から喜んでいます。　それはただ、主イエス・キリストが私たちの罪のために死んで成し遂げてくださったこと、すなわち、私たちを神様の友としてくださったことのおかげなのです。
12 アダムが罪を犯した時、罪は全世界に入り込みました。　アダムの罪により、死が全人類に広まり、すべての人は年老いて死ぬよう定められました。　それと言うのも、すべての人が罪を犯したからです。　13 これらの原因がアダムの罪にあることを、私たちは知っています。　というのは、もちろんアダムからモーセまでの時代にも、人々は罪を犯していましたが、神様はそのころには、ご自分のおきてを破ったかどで、彼らに死刑を宣告したりは、なさらなかったからです。――神様はまだ、彼らにご自分のおきてを与えず、また、彼らにどんな行為を望んでいるかも、告げておられなかったのです。　14 そういうわけで、彼らの肉体の死は、彼らの罪のせいではありませんでした。　アダムのように、禁断の木の実を食べるな、という神様の特別のおきてを破ったわけではないからです。
アダムと、やがて来ることになっていたキリスト様とは、なんと対照的でしょう。　15 人間の罪と神様の赦しとの間には、なんと大きな違いがあることでしょう。
一人の人アダムは、自分の罪によって多くの人に死をもたらしました。　しかし、一人の人イエス・キリストは、神様のあわれみによって、多くの人に赦しをもたらしたのです。　16 アダムの一つの罪が、多くの人に死の罰をもたらしました。　一方、キリスト様は、無代価で多くの罪を取り除き、その代わりにすばらしいいのちを下さるのです。　17 この一人の人アダムの罪により、死はすべての人を支配する王となりました。　しかし、神様から、罪の赦しと無罪放免という無代価の贈り物をいただく人はみな、この一人の人イエス・キリストによって、いのちの王となります。　18 そうです。　アダムの罪は、すべての人に刑罰をもたらしましたが、キリスト様の正しさは、人々を神様の前に正しい者とするのです。　それで、人々は生きることができるのです。　19 神様に従わなかったアダムは、多くの人を罪人にしましたが、神様にお従いしたキリスト様は、多くの人を神様に受け入れられる者としてくださいました。
20 「十戒」が与えられて、すべての人は、自分がいかに神様のおきてに従いえない存在か、よくわかるようになりました。　しかし、私たちは、自分の罪深さを知れば知るほど、赦してくださる神様の満ちあふれる恵みが、いっそうわかるようになるのです。　21 以前は、罪がすべての人を支配し、死に導きました。　しかし今では、反対に神様の恵みが私たちを支配するようになり、主イエス・キリストによって、私たちに神様の前での正しい身分を与え、永遠のいのちへと導いてくれるのです。

Romans 5

1 Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ;2 through whom also we have had our access by faith into this grace wherein we stand; and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.3 And not only so, but we also rejoice in our tribulations: knowing that tribulation worketh stedfastness;4 and stedfastness, approvedness; and approvedness, hope:5 and hope putteth not to shame; because the love of God hath been shed abroad in our hearts through the Holy Spirit which was given unto us.6 For while we were yet weak, in due season Christ died for the ungodly.7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: for peradventure for the good man some one would even dare to die.8 But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, shall we be saved from the wrath of God through him.10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life;11 and not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.12 Therefore, as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin; and so death passed unto all men, for that all sinned:--13 for until the law sin was in the world; but sin is not imputed when there is no law.14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the likeness of Adam’s transgression, who is a figure of him that was to come.15 But not as the trespass, so also is the free gift. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God, and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound unto the many.16 And not as through one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment came of one unto condemnation, but the free gift came of many trespasses unto justification.17 For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; much more shall they that receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, even Jesus Christ.18 So then as through one trespass the judgment came unto all men to condemnation; even so through one act of righteousness the free gift came unto all men to justification of life.19 For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one shall the many be made righteous.20 And the law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace did abound more exceedingly:21 that, as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
