Resucitados a una vida nueva

1 ¿Querrá todo esto decir que debemos seguir pecando para que se desborde la gracia? 2 ¡De ningún modo! Quienes hemos muerto al pecado, ¿cómo vamos a seguir viviendo sometidos a él? 3 ¿No saben ustedes que, al ser vinculados a Cristo por el bautismo, fuimos vinculados también a su muerte?t 4 Por el bautismo, en efecto, fuimos sepultados con Cristo*, a fin de participar en su muerte. Por tanto, si Cristo venció a la muerte resucitando por el glorioso poder del Padret, es preciso que también nosotros emprendamos una vida nueva.t 5 Si hemos sido injertados en Cristo compartiendo una muerte como la suya, compartiremost, también su resurrección.t 6 Tengan en cuenta que nuestra antigua condición pecadora fue clavada junto con Cristo en la cruz, para que así quedara destruido este cuerpo sometido al pecado y nosotros quedáramos liberados de su servidumbre.t 7 Pues cuando una persona muere, queda libre del dominio del pecado. 8 Si, pues, hemos muerto con Cristo, debemos confiar en que también viviremos con él; 9 sabemos, en efecto, que Cristo, al haber resucitado de entre los muertos es ya inmortal; la muerte ha perdido su dominio sobre él. 10 En cuanto a la razón de su muerte, murió para liberarnos definitivamente del pecadot; en lo que se refiere a su vivir, vive para Dios.

11 Igualmente ustedes, consideren que han muerto al pecado y viven para Dios en unión con Cristo Jesús.t
12 Que no los siga dominandot el pecado; aunque el cuerpo sea mortal, no se sometan a sus apetencias, 13 ni se conviertan en instrumentos del mal al servicio del pecado. Preséntense, más bien, ante Dios como lo que son: muertos retornados a la vida, y hagan de sus cuerpos instrumentos del bien al servicio de Dios.

14 No se dejen dominart por el pecado, ya que no están bajo el yugo de la ley, sino bajo la acción de la gracia.t

Libres del pecado

16 Saben de sobra que, si se ponen al servicio de alguien dispuestos a obedecerle, se convierten en sus esclavos: esclavos del pecado que los llevará a la muerte, o bien esclavos de la obediencia a Dios que los restablecerá en su amistad.t
17 Gracias a Dios, ustedes, que eran en otro tiempo esclavos del pecado, se han sometido de todo corazón al modelo de enseñanza que les ha sido transmitidot. 18 Liberados del pecado, se han puesto al servicio del bien.

19 Les estoy hablando con un lenguaje corriente* en atención a la debilidad de su condición humana. Así pues, lo mismo que en otro tiempo se hicieron esclavos del vicio y la maldad enfangándose en el mal, háganse ahora esclavos del bien, consagrándose a Diost.
20 Cuando ustedes eran esclavos del pecado, no se consideraban obligados a practicar el bien. 21 ¿Y cuál fue el resultado? Vergüenza les da a ustedes decirlo, porque todo desembocó en la muerte. 22 Pero ahora han sido liberados del pecado, son siervos de Dios, han sido consagrados a él y tienen como meta la vida eterna. 23 Porque el salario del pecado es la muerte, mientras que el dont que Dios nos hace es la vida eterna por medio de Cristo Jesús, Señor nuestro.t

Romans 6

The Believer’s Freedom from Sin’s Domination

1 What shall we say then? Are we to remain in sin so that grace may increase?2 Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it?3 Or do you not know that as many as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

4 Therefore we have been buried with him through baptism into death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may live a new life.t
5 For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be united in the likeness of his resurrection.t6 We know thatt our old man was crucified with him so that the body of sin would no longer dominate us,t so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.

7 (For someone who has died has been freed from sin.)s
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.9 We knowt that since Christ has been raised from the dead, he is never going to diet again; death no longer has mastery over him.10 For the death he died, he died to sin once for all, but the life he lives, he lives to God.

11 So you too consider yourselvess dead to sin, butt alive to God in Christ Jesus.
12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its desires,13 and do not present your members to sin as instrumentst to be used for unrighteousness,t but present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead and your members to God as instrumentst to be used for righteousness.

14 For sin will have no mastery over you, because you are not under law but under grace.

The Believer’s Enslavement to God’s Righteousness

15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Absolutely not!16 Do you not know that if you present yourselvest as obedient slaves,t you are slaves of the one you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or obedience resulting in righteousness?t17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves to sin, you obeyedt from the heart that patternt of teaching you were entrusted to,18 and having been freed from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.19 (I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.)ts For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.

20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free with regard to righteousness.
21 So what benefitt did you then reapt from those things that you are now ashamed of? For the end of those things is death.22 But now, freedt from sin and enslaved to God, you have your benefitt leading to sanctification, and the end is eternal life.

23 For the payofft of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
