로마서 6

그리스도인은 그리스도와 함께 죽고 함께 산다

1 그러면 우리가 무엇이라고 말을 해야 하겠습니까? 은혜를 더하게 하려고, 여전히 죄 가운데 머물러 있어야 하겠습니까? 2 그럴 수 없습니다. 우리는 죄에는 죽은 사람인데, 어떻게 죄 가운데서 그대로 살 수 있겠습니까? 3 t세례를 받아 그리스도 예수와 하나가 된 우리는 모두 t세례를 받을 때에 그와 함께 죽었다는 것을 여러분은 알지 못합니까? 4 그러므로 우리는 t세례를 통하여 그의 죽으심과 연합함으로써 그와 함께 묻혔던 것입니다. 그것은, 그리스도께서 아버지의 영광으로 말미암아 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살아나신 것과 같이, 우리도 또한 새 생명 안에서 살아가기 위함입니다. 5 우리가 그의 죽으심과 같은 죽음을 죽어서 그와 연합하는 사람이 되었으면, 우리는 부활에 있어서도 또한 그와 연합하는 사람이 될 것입니다. 6 우리의 옛사람이 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 달려 죽은 것은, 죄의 몸을 멸하여서, 우리가 다시는 죄의 노예가 되지 않게 하려는 것임을 우리는 압니다. 7 죽은 사람은 이미 죄의 세력에서 해방되었습니다. 8 우리가 그리스도와 함께 죽었으면, 그와 함께 우리도 또한 살아날 것임을 믿습니다. 9 우리가 알기로, 그리스도께서는 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살아나셔서, 다시는 죽지 않으시며, 다시는 죽음이 그를 지배하지 못합니다. 10 그리스도께서 죽으신 죽음은 죄에 대해서 단번에 죽으신 것이요, 그분이 사시는 삶은 하나님을 위하여 사시는 것입니다. 11 이와 같이 여러분도, 죄에 대해서는 죽은 사람이요, 하나님을 위해서는 그리스도 예수 안에서 살고 있는 사람이라는 것을 알아야 합니다. 12 그러므로 여러분은 죄가 여러분의 죽을 몸을 지배하지 못하게 해서, 여러분이 몸의 정욕에 굴복하는 일이 없도록 하십시오. 13 그러므로 여러분은 여러분의 지체를 죄에 내맡겨서 불의의 t연장이 되게 하지 마십시오. 오히려 여러분은 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살아난 사람답게, 여러분을 하나님께 바치고, 여러분의 지체를 의의 t연장으로 하나님께 바치십시오. 14 여러분은 율법 아래 있지 않고, 은혜 아래 있으므로, 죄가 여러분을 다스릴 수 없을 것입니다.

그리스도인은 의의 종이다

15 그러면 어떻게 해야 하겠습니까? 우리가 율법 아래 있지 않고, 은혜 아래에 있다고 해서, 마음 놓고 죄를 짓자는 말입니까? 그럴 수 없습니다. 16 여러분이 아무에게나 자기를 종으로 내맡겨서 복종하게 하면, 여러분은, 여러분이 복종하는 그 사람의 종이 되는 것임을 알지 못합니까? 여러분은 죄의 종이 되어 죽음에 이르거나, 아니면 순종의 종이 되어 의에 이르거나, 하는 것입니다. 17 그러나 하나님께 감사하는 것은, 여러분이 전에는 죄의 종이었으나, 이제 여러분은 전해 받은 교훈의 본에 마음으로부터 순종함으로써, 18 죄에서 해방을 받아서 의의 종이 된 것입니다. 19 여러분의 t이해력이 미약하므로, 내가 사람의 방식으로 말하겠습니다. 여러분이 전에는 자기 지체를 더러움과 불법의 종으로 내맡겨서 불법에 빠져 있었지만, 이제는 여러분의 지체를 의의 종으로 바쳐서 거룩함에 이르도록 하십시오. 20 여러분이 죄의 종일 때에는 의에 얽매이지 않았습니다. 21 여러분은 그 때에 무슨 열매를 거두었습니까? 이제 와서 여러분이 그러한 생활을 부끄러워하지마는, 그러한 생활의 마지막은 죽음입니다. 22 이제 여러분은 죄에서 해방을 받고, 하나님의 종이 되어서, 거룩함에 이르는 삶의 열매를 맺고 있습니다. 그 마지막은 영원한 생명입니다. 23 죄의 삯은 죽음이요, 하나님의 선물은 우리 주 예수 그리스도 안에서 누리는 영원한 생명입니다.

ROMANS 6

Dead to Sin but Alive //because of Christ

1 What should we say? Should we keep on sinning, so that God's gift of undeserved grace will show up even better? 2 No, we should not! If we are dead to sin, how can we go on sinning? 3 Don't you know that all who share in Christ Jesus by being baptized also share in his death?

4 t When we were baptized, we died and were buried with Christ. We were baptized, so we would live a new life, as Christ was raised to life by the glory of God the Father.
5 If we shared in Jesus' death by being baptized, we will be raised to life with him. 6 We know that the persons we used to be were nailed to the cross with Jesus. This was done, so our sinful bodies would no longer be the slaves of sin.

7 We know sin doesn't have power over dead people.
8 As surely as we died with Christ, we believe we will also live with him. 9 We know that death no longer has any power over Christ. He died and was raised to life, never again to die. 10 When Christ died, he died for sin once and for all. But now he is alive, and he lives only for God.

11 In the same way, you must think of yourselves as dead to the power of sin. But Christ Jesus has given life to you, and you live for God.
12 Don't let sin rule your body. After all, your body is bound to die, so don't obey its desires 13 or let any part of it become a slave of evil. Give yourselves to God, as people who have been raised from death to life. Make every part of your body a slave that pleases God.

14 Don't let sin keep ruling your lives. You are ruled by God's undeserved grace and not by the Law.

Slaves Who Do What //Pleases God

15 What does all this mean? Does it mean we are free to sin, because we are ruled by God's gift of undeserved grace and not by the Law? Certainly not! 16 Don't you know that you are slaves of anyone you obey? You can be slaves of sin and die, or you can be obedient slaves of God and be acceptable to him. 17 You used to be slaves of sin. But I thank God that with all your heart you followed the example set forth in the teaching you received.

18 Now you are set free from sin and are slaves who please God.

19 I am using these everyday examples, because in some ways you are still weak. You used to let the different parts of your body be slaves of your evil thoughts. But now you must make every part of your body serve God, so that you will belong completely to him.
20 When you were slaves of sin, you didn't have to please God. 21 But what good did you receive from the things you did? All you have to show for them is your shame, and they lead to death. 22 Now you have been set free from sin, and you are God's slaves. This will make you holy and will lead you to eternal life. 23 Sin pays off with death. But God's gift is eternal life given by Jesus Christ our Lord.
