1 ถ้าเช่นนั้นแล้วเราจะว่าอย่างไร ควรเราจะอยู่ในบาปต่อไปเพื่อให้พระคุณมีมากยิ่งขึ้นหรือ2 ขอพระเจ้าอย่ายอมให้เป็นเช่นนั้นเลย พวกเราที่ตายต่อบาปแล้ว จะมีชีวิตในบาปต่อไปอย่างไรได้3 ท่านไม่รู้หรือว่า เราทั้งหลายที่ได้รับบัพติศมาเข้าในพระเยซูคริสต์ ก็ได้รับบัพติศมานั้นเข้าในความตายของพระองค์4 เหตุฉะนั้นเราจึงถูกฝังไว้กับพระองค์แล้วโดยการรับบัพติศมาเข้าส่วนในความตายนั้น เหมือนกับที่พระคริสต์ได้ทรงถูกชุบให้เป็นขึ้นมาจากความตาย โดยเดชพระรัศมีของพระบิดาอย่างไร เราก็จะได้ดำเนินตามชีวิตใหม่ด้วยอย่างนั้น5 เพราะว่าถ้าเราเข้าสนิทกับพระองค์แล้วในการตายอย่างพระองค์ เราก็จะเป็นขึ้นมาอย่างพระองค์ได้ทรงเป็นขึ้นมาจากความตายด้วย6 เราทั้งหลายรู้แล้วว่า มนุษย์เก่าของเรานั้นได้ถูกตรึงไว้กับพระองค์แล้ว เพื่อตัวที่บาปนั้นจะถูกทำลายให้สิ้นไป เพื่อเราจะไม่เป็นทาสของบาปอีกต่อไป7 เพราะว่าผู้ที่ตายแล้วก็พ้นจากบาป8 แต่ถ้าเราตายแล้วกับพระคริสต์ เราเชื่อว่าเราจะมีชีวิตอยู่กับพระองค์ด้วย9 เราทั้งหลายรู้อยู่ว่า พระคริสต์ที่ทรงถูกชุบให้เป็นขึ้นมาจากตายแล้วนั้นจะหาตายอีกไม่ ความตายหาครอบงำพระองค์ต่อไปไม่10 ด้วยว่าซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงตายนั้น พระองค์ได้ทรงตายต่อบาปหนเดียว แต่ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงมีชีวิตอยู่นั้น พระองค์ทรงมีชีวิตเพื่อพระเจ้า11 เหมือนกันเช่นนั้นแหละ ท่านทั้งหลายจงถือว่า ท่านได้ตายต่อบาปและมีชีวิตอยู่เพื่อพระเจ้า ในพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา12 เหตุฉะนั้นอย่าให้บาปครอบงำกายที่ต้องตายของท่าน ซึ่งทำให้ต้องเชื่อฟังตัณหาของกายนั้น13 อย่ายกอวัยวะของท่านให้แก่บาป ให้เป็นเครื่องใช้ในการอธรรม แต่จงถวายตัวของท่านแด่พระเจ้า เหมือนหนึ่งคนที่เป็นขึ้นมาจากความตายแล้ว และจงให้อวัยวะของท่านเป็นเครื่องใช้ในการชอบธรรมถวายแด่พระเจ้า14 เพราะว่าบาปจะมีอำนาจเหนือท่านทั้งหลายต่อไปก็หามิได้ เพราะว่าท่านทั้งหลายมิได้อยู่ใต้พระราชบัญญัติ แต่อยู่ใต้พระคุณ15 ถ้าเช่นนั้นจะเป็นอย่างไรต่อไป เราจะทำบาปเพราะมิได้อยู่ใต้พระราชบัญญัติแต่อยู่ใต้พระคุณกระนั้นหรือ ขอพระเจ้าอย่ายอมให้เป็นเช่นนั้นเลย16 ท่านทั้งหลายไม่รู้หรือว่า ท่านจะยอมตัวรับใช้เชื่อฟังคำของผู้ใด ท่านก็เป็นทาสของผู้ที่ท่านเชื่อฟังนั้น คือเป็นทาสของบาปซึ่งนำไปสู่ความตาย หรือเป็นทาสของการเชื่อฟังซึ่งนำไปสู่ความชอบธรรม17 แต่จงขอบพระคุณพระเจ้าเพราะว่าเมื่อก่อนนั้นท่านเป็นทาสของบาป แต่บัดนี้ท่านมีใจเชื่อฟังหลักคำสอนนั้นซึ่งทรงมอบไว้แก่ท่าน18 เมื่อท่านพ้นจากบาปแล้ว ท่านก็ได้กลายเป็นทาสของความชอบธรรม19 ข้าพเจ้ายกเอาตัวอย่างมนุษย์มาพูด เพราะเหตุเนื้อหนังของท่านอ่อนกำลัง เพราะท่านเคยให้อวัยวะของท่านเป็นทาสของการโสโครกและของความชั่วช้าซ้อนชั่วช้าฉันใด บัดนี้ท่านจงให้อวัยวะของท่านเป็นทาสของความชอบธรรม เพื่อให้ถึงความบริสุทธิ์ฉันนั้น20 เพราะเมื่อท่านทั้งหลายเป็นทาสของบาป ความชอบธรรมก็ไม่ได้ครอบครองท่าน21 ขณะนั้นท่านได้ผลประโยชน์อะไรในการเหล่านั้น ซึ่งบัดนี้ท่านทั้งหลายก็ละอาย ด้วยว่าที่สุดท้ายของการเหล่านั้นก็คือความตาย22 แต่เดี๋ยวนี้ท่านทั้งหลายพ้นจากการเป็นทาสของบาป และกลับมาเป็นผู้รับใช้ของพระเจ้าแล้ว ผลที่ท่านได้รับก็คือความบริสุทธิ์ และผลสุดท้ายคือชีวิตนิรันดร์23 เพราะว่าค่าจ้างของความบาปคือความตาย แต่ของประทานของพระเจ้าคือชีวิตนิรันดร์ในพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา
Romans 6
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?2 God forbid. We who died to sin, how shall we any longer live therein?3 Or are ye ignorant that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?4 We were buried therefore with him through baptism unto death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.5 For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection;6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin;7 for he that hath died is justified from sin.8 But if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him;9 knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death no more hath dominion over him.10 For the death that he died, he died unto sin once: but the life that he liveth, he liveth unto God.11 Even so reckon ye also yourselves to be dead unto sin, but alive unto God in Christ Jesus.12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey the lusts thereof:13 neither present your members unto sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves unto God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under law, but under grace.15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under law, but under grace? God forbid.16 Know ye not, that to whom ye present yourselves as servants unto obedience, his servants ye are whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?17 But thanks be to God, that, whereas ye were servants of sin, ye became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereunto ye were delivered;18 and being made free from sin, ye became servants of righteousness.19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity, even so now present your members as servants to righteousness unto sanctification.20 For when ye were servants of sin, ye were free in regard of righteousness.21 What fruit then had ye at that time in the things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.22 But now being made free from sin and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end eternal life.23 For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
