La vida en el Espíritu
1 Ninguna condena, por tanto, pesa ya sobre los que pertenecen a Cristo Jesús, 2 pues la ley del Espíritu que da vida en Cristo Jesús me ha liberadot de la ley del pecado y de la muerte.t 3 Es decir, lo que era imposible para la ley a causa de la debilidad humana, lo llevó a cabo Dios enviando a su propio Hijo que compartió nuestra condición pecadora y, a fin de eliminar el pecadot, dictó sentencia condenatoria contra el pecado a través de su naturaleza mortal.t
4 De esta manera nosotros, los que vivimos bajo la acción del Espíritu y no bajo el dominio de nuestros desordenados apetitos, podemos dar pleno cumplimiento a lo que manda la ley.
5 Los que viven entregados a sus desordenados apetitos, se preocupan de satisfacer esos apetitos; en cambio, los que viven según el Espíritu, se preocupan de hacer lo que es propio del Espíritu. 6 Ahora bien, el afán por satisfacer los apetitos desordenados conduce a la muerte; el de hacer lo que es propio del Espíritu lleva a la vida y a la paz. 7 Y es que el afán por satisfacer nuestros desordenados apetitos nos hace enemigos de Dios, a cuya ley ni nos sometemos ni tenemos siquiera posibilidad de hacerlo. 8 En definitiva, los que viven entregados a sus desordenados apetitos no pueden agradar a Dios. 9 Pero ustedes no viven entregados a esos apetitos, sino al Espíritu, ya quet el Espíritu de Dios mora en ustedes. El que carece del Espíritu de Cristo, no pertenece a Cristo.t 10 Pero si Cristo está en ustedes, aunque el cuerpo muera a causa del pecado, el espíritu vivet en virtud de la fuerza salvadora de Dios.
11 Y si el Espíritu del que resucitó a Jesús de entre los muertos habita en ustedes, el mismo que resucitó a Cristo Jesús infundirá nueva vida a sus cuerpos mortales por medio del Espíritu que ha hecho habitar en ustedes.t
12 Por tanto, hermanos, si con alguien estamos en deuda, no es con nuestros apetitos desordenados para comportarnos según ellos. 13 Porque si ustedes se comportan según esos apetitos, morirán; pero si, con la ayuda del Espíritu, dan muerte a las obras del cuerpot, vivirán. 14 Los que se dejan conducir por el Espíritu de Dios, esos son hijos de Dios. 15 En cuanto a ustedes, no han recibido un Espíritu que los convierta en esclavos, de nuevo bajo el régimen del miedo. Han recibido un Espíritu que los convierte en hijos y que nos permite exclamar: “¡Abba!”, es decir, “¡Padre!”t. t 16 Y ese mismo Espíritu es el que, uniéndose al nuestro, da testimonio de que somos hijos de Dios.
17 Y si somos hijos, también somos herederos: herederos de Dios y coherederos con Cristo, ya que ahora compartimos sus sufrimientos para compartir también su gloria.tLa esperanza del premio
18 Considero, por lo demás, que los sufrimientos presentes no tienen comparación con la gloria que un día se nos descubrirá. 19 La creación, en efecto, espera con impaciencia que se nos descubra lo que serán los hijos de Dios. 20 Sometida a la caducidadt, no voluntariamente, sino porque Dios así lo dispuso, abriga la esperanza 21 de compartir, libre de la servidumbre de la corrupción, la gloriosa libertad de los hijos de Dios.t 22 Y es que la creación entera está gimiendo, a una, con dolores de partot hasta el día de hoy.t 23 Pero no sólo ella; también nosotros, los que estamos en posesión del Espíritu como primicias del futuro*, suspiramos en espera de que Dios nos haga sus hijost y libere nuestro cuerpo.t 24 Porque ya estamos salvados, aunque sólo en esperanza. Es lógico que esperar lo que uno tiene ante los ojos no es verdadera esperanza, pues ¿cómo seguir esperando lo que ya se tiene ante los ojos?
25 Pero si esperamos algo que no vemos, es que aguardamos con perseverancia.
26 Asimismo, a pesar de que somos débiles, el Espíritu viene en nuestra ayuda; aunque no sabemos lo que nos conviene pedir, el Espíritu intercede por nosotros de manera misteriosa. 27 Y Dios, que sondea lo más profundo del ser, conoce cuál es el sentir de ese Espíritu que intercede por los creyentes de acuerdo con su divina voluntad. 28 Estamos seguros, además, de que todo colaborat al bien de los que aman a Dios, de los que han sido elegidos conforme a su designio. 29 Porque a quienes Dios conoció de antemano, los destinó también desde el principio a reproducir la imagen de su Hijo, que había de ser el primogénito entre muchos hermanos.t
30 Y a quienes Dios destinó desde un principio, también los llamó; a quienes llamó, los restableció en su amistad; y a quienes restableció en su amistad, los hizo partícipes de su gloria.tCanto al amor de Dios
31 ¿Qué añadir a todo esto? Si Dios está a nuestro favor, ¿quién podrá estar contra nosotros? 32 El que no escatimó a su propio Hijo, sino que lo entregó a la muerte por nosotros, ¿cómo no va a hacernos el don de todas las cosas juntamente con él?t 33 ¿Quién acusarát a los elegidos de Dios? ¡Dios es quien salva! 34 ¿Quién se atreverá a condenar? ¡Cristo Jesús es quien murió, más aún, resucitó y está junto a Dios, en el lugar de honort, intercediendo por nosotros!t 35 ¿Quién podrá arrebatarnos el amor que Cristo nos tiene? ¿El sufrimiento, la angustia, la persecución, el hambre, la desnudez, el peligro, el miedo a la muertet?
36 Ya lo dice la Escritura:
Por tu causa estamos en trance de muerte cada día;
nos tratan como a ovejas destinadas al matadero. t
37 Pero Dios, que nos ha amado, nos hace salir victoriosos de todas estas pruebas. 38 Estoy seguro de que ni muerte, ni vida, ni ángeles, ni potestades cósmicas, ni lo presente, ni lo futuro, ni poderes sobrenaturalest, 39 ni lo de arriba, ni lo de abajo, ni cualquier otra criatura, será capaz de arrebatarnos este amor que Dios nos tiene en Cristo Jesús, Señor nuestro.

The Believer’s Relationship to the Holy Spirit
1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.s2 For the law of the life-giving Spiritt in Christ Jesus has set yous free from the law of sin and death.3 For God achieved what the law could not do becauset it was weakened through the flesh. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,
4 so that the righteous requirement of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
5 For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped byt the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit.6 For the outlookt of the flesh is death, but the outlook of the Spirit is life and peace,7 because the outlook of the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to the law of God, nor is it able to do so.8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.9 You, however, are not int the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him.10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, butt the Spirit is your lifet because of righteousness.
11 Moreover if the Spirit of the ones who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christs from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through his Spirit who lives in you.s
12 So then,t brothers and sisters,t we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh13 (for if you live according to the flesh, you willt die),s but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God aret the sons of God.15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear,t but you received the Spirit of adoption,t by whomt we cry, “Abba, Father.”16 The Spirit himself bears witness tot our spirit that we are God’s children.
17 And if children, then heirs (namely, heirs of God and also fellow heirs with Christ)t – if indeed we suffer with him so we may also be glorified with him.
18 For I consider that our present sufferings cannot even be comparedt to the glory that will be revealed to us.19 For the creation eagerly waits for the revelation of the sons of God.20 For the creation was subjected to futility – not willingly but because of Godt who subjected it – in hope21 that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of decay into the glorious freedom of God’s children.22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers together until now.23 Not only this, but we ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit,t groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption,t the redemption of our bodies.t24 For in hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope, because who hopes for what he sees?
25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with endurance.t
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray,t but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.27 And hes who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spiritt intercedes on behalf of the saints according to God’s will.28 And we know that all things work togethers for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose,29 because those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that his Sont would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.t
30 And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.
31 What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?32 Indeed, he whot did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?33 Who will bring any charge against God’s elect?s It is God who justifies.34 Who is the one who will condemn? Christst is the one who died (and more than that, he was raised), who is at the right hand of God, and who also is interceding for us.35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will trouble, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?t36 As it is written, “For your sake we encounter death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”s37 No, in all these things we have complete victoryt through himt who loved us!38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor heavenly rulers,t nor things that are present, nor things to come, nor powers,
39 nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
