로마서 8

성령은 생명을 주시다

1 그러므로 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 사람들은 정죄를 받지 않습니다. 2 그것은, 그리스도 예수 안에서 생명을 누리게 하는 t성령의 법이 t당신을 죄와 죽음의 법에서 해방하여 주었기 때문입니다. 3 육신으로 말미암아 율법이 미약해져서 해낼 수 없었던 그 일을 하나님께서 해결하셨습니다. 곧 하나님께서는 자기의 아들을 죄된 육신을 지닌 모습으로 보내셔서, 죄를 없애시려고 그 육신에다 죄의 선고를 내리셨습니다. 4 그것은, 육신을 따라 살지 않고 t성령을 따라 사는 우리가, 율법이 요구하는 바를 이루게 하시려는 것입니다. 5 육신을 따라 사는 사람은 육신에 속한 것을 생각하나, t성령을 따라 사는 사람은 t성령에 속한 것을 생각합니다. 6 육신에 속한 생각은 죽음입니다. 그러나 t성령에 속한 생각은 생명과 평화입니다. 7 육신에 속한 생각은 하나님께 품는 적대감입니다. 그것은 하나님의 법을 따르지 않으며, 또 복종할 수도 없습니다. 8 육신에 매인 사람은 하나님을 기쁘게 해 드릴 수 없습니다. 9 그러나 하나님의 영이 여러분 안에 살아 계시면, 여러분은 육신 안에 있지 않고, t성령 안에 있습니다. 누구든지 그리스도의 영이 없으면, 그리스도의 사람이 아닙니다. 10 또한 그리스도께서 여러분 안에 살아 계시면, 여러분의 몸은 죄 때문에 죽은 것이지만, 영은 의 때문에 생명을 얻습니다. 11 예수를 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살리신 분의 영이 여러분 안에 살아 계시면, t그리스도를 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살리신 분께서, 여러분 안에 계신 자기의 t영으로 여러분의 죽을 몸도 살리실 것입니다. 12 그러므로 t형제자매 여러분, 우리는 빚을 지고 사는 사람들이지만, 육신에 빚을 진 것이 아닙니다. 우리는 육신을 따라 살아야 할 존재가 아닙니다. 13 여러분이 육신을 따라 살면, 죽을 것입니다. 그러나 여러분이 t성령으로 몸의 행실을 죽이면, 살 것입니다. 14 하나님의 영으로 인도함을 받는 사람은, 누구나 다 하나님의 t자녀입니다. 15 여러분은 또다시 두려움에 빠뜨리는 종살이의 영을 받은 것이 아니라, t자녀로 삼으시는 영을 받았습니다. 그래서 우리는 그 영으로 하나님을 “t아빠, 아버지”라고 부릅니다. 16 바로 그 때에 그 t성령이 우리의 영과 함께, 우리가 하나님의 자녀임을 증언하십니다. 17 자녀이면 상속자이기도 합니다. 우리가 그리스도와 함께 영광을 받으려고 그와 함께 고난을 받으면, 우리는 하나님이 정하신 상속자요, 그리스도와 더불어 공동 상속자입니다.

모든 피조물이 구원을 갈망하다

18 현재 우리가 겪는 고난은, 장차 우리에게 나타날 영광에 견주면, 아무것도 아니라고 나는 생각합니다. 19 피조물은 하나님의 t자녀들이 나타나기를 간절히 기다리고 있습니다. 20 피조물이 허무에 굴복했지만, 그것은 자의로 그렇게 한 것이 아니라, 굴복하게 하신 그분이 그렇게 하신 것입니다. 그러나 소망은 남아 있습니다. 21 그것은 곧 피조물도 썩어짐의 종살이에서 해방되어서, 하나님의 자녀가 누릴 영광된 자유를 얻으리라는 것입니다. 22 모든 피조물이 이제까지 함께 신음하며, 함께 해산의 고통을 겪고 있다는 것을, 우리는 압니다. 23 그뿐만 아니라, 첫 열매로서 성령을 받은 우리도 t자녀로 삼아 주실 것을, 곧 우리 몸을 속량하여 주실 것을 고대하면서, 속으로 신음하고 있습니다. 24 우리는 이 소망으로 구원을 얻었습니다. 눈에 보이는 소망은 소망이 아닙니다. 보이는 것을 누가 바라겠습니까? 25 그러나 우리가 보이지 않는 것을 바라면, 참으면서 기다려야 합니다. 26 이와 같이, 성령께서도 우리의 약함을 도와주십니다. 우리는 어떻게 기도해야 할지도 알지 못하지만, 성령께서 친히 이루 다 말할 수 없는 탄식으로, 우리를 대신하여 간구하여 주십니다. 27 사람의 마음을 꿰뚫어 보시는 t하나님께서는, 성령의 생각이 어떠한지를 아십니다. 성령께서, 하나님의 뜻을 따라, 성도를 대신하여 간구하시기 때문입니다. 28 하나님을 사랑하는 사람들, 곧 하나님의 뜻대로 부르심을 받은 사람들에게는, 모든 일이 서로 협력해서 선을 이룬다는 것을 우리는 압니다. 29 하나님께서는 미리 아신 사람들을 택하셔서, 자기 아들의 형상과 같은 모습이 되도록 미리 정하셨으니, 이것은 그 아들이 많은 형제 가운데서 맏아들이 되게 하시려는 것입니다. 30 그리하여 하나님께서는 이미 정하신 사람들을 부르시고, 또한 부르신 사람들을 의롭게 하시고, 의롭게 하신 사람들을 또한 영화롭게 하셨습니다.

하나님의 사랑은 어떠한 역경보다도 강하다

31 그렇다면, 이런 일을 두고 우리가 무엇이라고 말할 수 있겠습니까? 하나님이 우리 편이시면, 누가 우리를 대적하겠습니까? 32 자기 아들을 아끼지 않으시고, 우리 모두를 위하여 내주신 분이, 어찌 그 아들과 함께 모든 것을 우리에게 선물로 거저 주지 않으시겠습니까? 33 하나님께서 택하신 사람들을, 누가 감히 고발하겠습니까? 의롭다 하시는 분이 하나님이신데, 34 누가 감히 그들을 정죄하겠습니까? 그리스도 예수는 죽으셨지만 오히려 살아나셔서 하나님의 오른쪽에 계시며, 우리를 위하여 대신 간구하여 주십니다. 35 누가 우리를 그리스도의 사랑에서 끊을 수 있겠습니까? 환난입니까, 곤고입니까, 박해입니까, 굶주림입니까, 헐벗음입니까, 위협입니까, 또는 칼입니까? 36 성경에 기록한 바 t“우리는 종일 주님을 위하여 죽임을 당합니다. 우리는 도살당할 양과 같이 여김을 받았습니다” 한 것과 같습니다.

37 그러나 우리는 이 모든 일에서 우리를 사랑하여 주신 그분을 힘입어서, 이기고도 남습니다. 38 나는 확신합니다. 죽음도, 삶도, 천사들도, 권세자들도, 현재 일도, 장래 일도, 능력도, 39 높음도, 깊음도, 그 밖에 어떤 피조물도, 우리를 우리 주 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 하나님의 사랑에서 끊을 수 없습니다.

ROMANS 8

Living by the Power //of God's Spirit

1 If you belong to Christ Jesus, you won't be punished. 2 The Holy Spirit will give you life that comes from Christ Jesus and will set yout free from sin and death. 3 The Law of Moses cannot do this, because our selfish desires make the Law weak. But God set you free when he sent his own Son to be like us sinners and to be a sacrifice for our sin. God used Christ's body to condemn sin.

4 He did this, so that we would do what the Law commands by obeying the Spirit instead of our own desires.
5 People who are ruled by their desires think only of themselves. Everyone who is ruled by the Holy Spirit thinks about spiritual things. 6 If our minds are ruled by our desires, we will die. But if our minds are ruled by the Spirit, we will have life and peace. 7 Our desires fight against God, because they do not and cannot obey God's laws.

8 If we follow our desires, we cannot please God.
9 You are no longer ruled by your desires, but by God's Spirit, who lives in you. People who don't have the Spirit of Christ in them don't belong to him. 10 But Christ lives in you. So you are alive because God has accepted you, even though your bodies must die because of your sins.

11 t Yet God raised Jesus to life! God's Spirit now lives in you, and he will raise you to life by his Spirit.
12 My dear friends, we must not live to satisfy our desires. 13 If you do, you will die. But you will live, if by the help of God's Spirit you say “No” to your desires. 14 Only those people who are led by God's Spirit are his children. 15 t t God's Spirit doesn't make us slaves who are afraid of him. Instead, we become his children and call him our Father.t 16 God's Spirit makes us sure that we are his children.

17 His Spirit lets us know that together with Christ we will be given what God has promised. We will also share in the glory of Christ, because we have suffered with him.

A Wonderful Future //for God's People

18  t I am sure what we are suffering now cannot compare with the glory that will be shown to us. 19 In fact, all creation is eagerly waiting for God to show who his children are. 20 t Meanwhile, creation is confused, but not because it wants to be confused. God made it this way in the hope 21 that creation would be set free from decay and would share in the glorious freedom of his children.

22 We know that all creation is still groaning and is in pain, like a woman about to give birth.
23  t The Spirit makes us sure about what we will be in the future. But now we groan silently, while we wait for God to show that we are his children.t This means that our bodies will also be set free. 24 And this hope is what saves us. But if we already have what we hope for, there is no need to keep on hoping.

25 However, we hope for something we have not yet seen, and we patiently wait for it.
26 In certain ways we are weak, but the Spirit is here to help us. For example, when we don't know what to pray for, the Spirit prays for us in ways that cannot be put into words. 27 t All of our thoughts are known to God. He can understand what is in the mind of the Spirit, as the Spirit prays for God's people. 28 We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him.t They are the ones God has chosen for his purpose, 29 and he has always known who his chosen ones would be. He had decided to let them become like his own Son, so his Son would be the first of many children.

30 God then accepted the people he had already decided to choose, and he has shared his glory with them.

God's Love

31 What can we say about all this? If God is on our side, can anyone be against us? 32 God did not keep back his own Son, but he gave him for us. If God did this, won't he freely give us everything else? 33 If God says his chosen ones are acceptable to him, can anyone bring charges against them? 34 Or can anyone condemn them? No indeed! Christ died and was raised to life, and now he is at God's right side, t speaking to him for us. 35 Can anything separate us from the love of Christ? Can trouble, suffering, and hard times, or hunger and nakedness, or danger and death?

36 t It is exactly as the Scriptures say,
“For you we face death
all day long.
We are like sheep
on their way
to be butchered.”
37 In everything we have won more than a victory because of Christ who loves us. 38 I am sure that nothing can separate us from God's love—not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, 39 and not powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God's love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord!
