Guds Ande ger frihet

1 De människor som lever i gemenskap med Jesus Kristus blir alltså inte dömda av Gud till att dö.2 Kraften hos Guds Ande, som ger oss liv i gemenskap med Jesus Kristus, har ju gjort osst fria ifrån syndens lag som leder till döden.3 Den lag Gud gav oss genom Moset kunde inte rädda oss från synden på grund av vår mänskliga natur, och därför fick Gud själv gripa in. Han sände sin egen Son och lät honom bli lik en syndig människa, för att han skulle offra sitt liv och ta straffet för våra synder. Och genom detta miste synden sin makt över vår mänskliga natur.

4 Därför kan vi nu, precis som Guds lag kräver, vara skuldfria inför Gud, om vi istället för att styras av vår mänskliga natur låter Guds Ande styra oss.
5 De som styrs av sin mänskliga natur tänker på sådant som tillfredsställer den mänskliga naturen, men de som styrs av Guds Ande tänker på sådant som tillfredsställer Gud.6 Om den mänskliga naturen får styra våra tankar, leder det till döden. Men om Guds Ande får styra våra tankar leder det till liv och frid.7 Vår mänskliga natur får oss att bli fiender till Gud, för det är omöjligt för den mänskliga naturen att underordna sig Guds lag.

8 Därför kan de som fortfarande styrs av sin mänskliga natur aldrig tillfredsställa Gud.
9 Men om Guds Ande bor i er, styrs ni inte av er mänskliga natur, utan av Anden. Och den som inte har Anden, som Kristus har gett oss, han tillhör överhuvudtaget inte Kristus.10 Om Kristus bor i er genom sin Ande, kommer Anden att ge er evigt liv, eftersom ni har blivit skuldfria inför Gud, men kroppen måste fortfarande dö på grund av synden.t

11 Ja, om Guds Ande, som uppväckte Jesus Kristus från de döda, bor i er, ska Gud en dag också göra era dödliga kroppar levande igen, eftersom hans Ande bor i er.
12 Vi har alltså, kära syskon, inga som helst skyldigheter mot vår mänskliga natur, så att vi måste leva som den vill.13 Nej, den som lever på det viset kommer att dö. Men om ni med Guds Andes kraft kväver kroppens syndiga impulser får ni leva,14 för alla som leds av Guds Ande är Guds barn.15 Guds Ande låter er ju inte leva i slaveri under Gud, så att ni än en gång måste vara rädda för honom. Nej, Anden gör er till Guds egna barn, som kan ropa till Gud: "Pappa, min Far."t16 Guds Ande viskar till oss i djupet av vårt hjärta att vi verkligen är hans barn.

17 Men om vi är Guds barn, ska vi också få ärva allt det goda som finns hos honom. Allt han har gett sin Son, Jesus Kristus, är nu också vårt. Men om vi en dag vill dela härligheten med Kristus, måste vi också dela hans lidanden.

Den härlighet som väntar Guds barn

18 Jag anser att de lidanden vi får gå igenom här på jorden inte betyder någonting jämfört med den härlighet som Gud en dag ska ge oss.19 Ja, hela skapelsen väntar med spänning på att få se vilken härlighet Guds barn ska få.

20-21 Allt skapat har ju kommit vid sidan av Guds plan, inte för att de själva ville det, utan därför att Gud dömde skapelsen till att dö. Men han gav oss ett hopp om att skapelsen en dag ska befrias från sitt kretslopp av ständigt nedbrytande. Ja, en dag ska allt skapat få del av den härliga frihet som Guds barn får njuta av.
22 Vi vet att hela skapelsen ropar som en kvinna när hon ska föda barn.

23 Och till och med vi, som har fått Guds Ande som en försmak av härligheten, ropar i vårt inre. Vi väntar på att Gud för alltid ska göra oss till sina barn och befria våra kroppar helt och hållet.
24 Vi är räddade redan nu, men har samtidigt ett hopp om fullständig frihet. Om vi redan var fullständigt fria behövde vi ju inte se fram emot det, för vem hoppas på något som redan har hänt?

25 Men genom att vänta på att detta hopp en dag ska uppfyllas, lär vi oss att vara uthålliga.
26 Dessutom hjälper Guds Ande oss i vår svaghet. Vi vet ju inte ens vad vi ska be om, men hans Ande ropar en ordlös bön till Gud från vårt inre.27 Och Gud, som känner allas hjärtan, vet vad Anden menar, för när Guds Ande ber för dem som tillhör Gud, ber han alltid så som Gud vill.28 Vi vet att Gud kan använda varje händelse till något gott för dem som älskar honom och enligt hans plan får tillhöra honom.29 Och det goda Gud vill, är att vi ska bli lika Jesus, hans Son. Gud bestämde nämligen redan från början att de som tackade ja till att få tillhöra honom, skulle bli lika Jesus, så att Sonen skulle bli den förstfödde i en lång rad med syskon.

30 Och dem som han i förväg hade bestämt skulle bli lika Sonen, dem inbjöd också Gud att få tillhöra honom och lät dem bli skuldfria inför honom. Och de som har blivit skuldfria inför Gud, ska också få dela hans härlighet.

Gud visade sin kärlek genom Jesus Kristus

31 Vad drar vi då för slutsats av detta? Jo, att om Gud är på vår sida, spelar det ingen roll vem som är emot oss!

32 Gud skonade ju inte ens sin egen Son, utan utlämnade honom för att hjälpa oss alla. Skulle han då inte vara beredd att skänka oss allt annat också tillsammans med honom?

33 Om någon anklagar oss som har tackat ja till Guds inbjudan att få tillhöra honom, vad spelar det för roll? Gud själv har ju förklarat oss skuldfria inför honom.

34 Och om någon dömer oss, vad spelar det för roll? Kristus själv är ju vår försvarare, han som dog och till och med uppstod och nu sitter på Guds högra sida och regerar tillsammans med honom.
35 Skulle något kunna hindra oss från att ta emot Kristus kärlek? Nej, inget! Det spelar ingen roll om vi upplever nöd eller ångest, om vi blir förföljda, får svälta, saknar kläder eller råkar ut för faror och dödshot.36 Att detta ska hända vet vi ju redan, för det står i Skriften: "Det är för att vi tjänar dig som man hela tiden försöker döda oss. Vi är som får som väntar på att bli slaktade."t37 Men mitt i allt detta vinner vi en total seger genom det som Kristus i sin kärlek gjorde för oss.

38-39 Det spelar ingen roll om vi lever eller dör. Jag är helt övertygad om att inget kan skilja oss från den kärlek Gud visade oss genom Jesus Kristus, vår Herre. Inga änglar eller demoner, inget som finns nu eller kommer att finnas i framtiden, inga krafter i himlen eller i djupet eller något annat i skapelsen kan hindra hans kärlek från att nå oss.

Romans 8

The Believer’s Relationship to the Holy Spirit

1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.s2 For the law of the life-giving Spiritt in Christ Jesus has set yous free from the law of sin and death.3 For God achieved what the law could not do becauset it was weakened through the flesh. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,

4 so that the righteous requirement of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
5 For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped byt the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit.6 For the outlookt of the flesh is death, but the outlook of the Spirit is life and peace,7 because the outlook of the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to the law of God, nor is it able to do so.8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.9 You, however, are not int the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him.10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, butt the Spirit is your lifet because of righteousness.

11 Moreover if the Spirit of the ones who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christs from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through his Spirit who lives in you.s
12 So then,t brothers and sisters,t we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh13 (for if you live according to the flesh, you willt die),s but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God aret the sons of God.15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear,t but you received the Spirit of adoption,t by whomt we cry, “Abba, Father.”16 The Spirit himself bears witness tot our spirit that we are God’s children.

17 And if children, then heirs (namely, heirs of God and also fellow heirs with Christ)t – if indeed we suffer with him so we may also be glorified with him.
18 For I consider that our present sufferings cannot even be comparedt to the glory that will be revealed to us.19 For the creation eagerly waits for the revelation of the sons of God.20 For the creation was subjected to futility – not willingly but because of Godt who subjected it – in hope21 that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of decay into the glorious freedom of God’s children.22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers together until now.23 Not only this, but we ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit,t groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption,t the redemption of our bodies.t24 For in hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope, because who hopes for what he sees?

25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with endurance.t
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray,t but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.27 And hes who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spiritt intercedes on behalf of the saints according to God’s will.28 And we know that all things work togethers for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose,29 because those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that his Sont would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.t

30 And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.
31 What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?32 Indeed, he whot did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?33 Who will bring any charge against God’s elect?s It is God who justifies.34 Who is the one who will condemn? Christst is the one who died (and more than that, he was raised), who is at the right hand of God, and who also is interceding for us.35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will trouble, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?t36 As it is written, “For your sake we encounter death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”s37 No, in all these things we have complete victoryt through himt who loved us!38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor heavenly rulers,t nor things that are present, nor things to come, nor powers,

39 nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
