Saludo

1-4 Querido Tito:
Yo te ayudé a confiar en Jesucristo, y por eso tú eres para mí como un verdadero hijo. Tú y yo confiamos en Dios; por eso yo le pido a él, que es nuestro Padre, y a Jesucristo, nuestro Salvador, que te llenen de su amor y de su paz.
Como bien sabes, soy servidor de Dios y apóstol de Jesucristo. Fui enviado por él para que los elegidos de Dios confíen en él, y para que lleguen a conocer la verdad que enseña nuestra religión. Así estarán seguros de recibir la vida eterna, que Dios nuestro Salvador prometió desde hace mucho tiempo. Y sabemos que Dios no miente. En el momento que él consideró oportuno, me dio ese mensaje y me pidió que lo anunciara a los demás.

Lo que Tito debía hacer en Creta

5 Te dejé en la isla de Creta para que resolvieras los problemas pendientes, y para que nombraras líderes en las iglesias de cada pueblo. Tal y como te dije,6 un líder de la iglesia debe ser alguien al que no se le pueda acusar de nada malo. Debe ser esposo de una sola mujer, y sus hijos deben creer en Jesucristo, portarse bien y ser obedientes.7 Dios les ha encargado a los líderes de la iglesia que vigilen el trabajo de todos, para que todo se haga bien. Por eso, no deben ser tiranos, ni enojarse con facilidad ni emborracharse. Tampoco deben ser violentos, ni tramposos en sus negocios.8 Al contrario, deben hacer siempre lo bueno, y recibir con gusto en su casa a quienes los visiten. Deben pensar bien las cosas antes de hacerlas, y ser justos, santos y disciplinados en todo.

9 No deberán creer otro mensaje que no sea el verdadero mensaje recibido de Dios, y mucho menos enseñarlo. Así podrán animar a otros por medio de la buena enseñanza, y convencer a los que se oponen a ella.
10 Porque por allí andan muchos que no obedecen la verdadera enseñanza, sino que engañan a los demás con sus enseñanzas tontas. Esto pasa, sobre todo, con algunos de ustedes que insisten en seguir practicando la circuncisión.

11 No los dejes enseñar, porque confunden a familias enteras, y lo hacen sólo para ganar dinero.

12 Fue uno de los propios profetas de Creta el que dijo:

«Esa gente de Creta es mentirosa,
glotona y perezosa.
Se portan como animales salvajes.»

13 ¡Y es verdad! Por eso tienes que reprender mucho a esta clase de gente, y ayudarla para que vuelva a confiar en Jesucristo como es debido.

14 Ayúdalos a no prestar atención a mandamientos dados por gente mentirosa, ni a cuentos inventados por los judíos.
15 Los que obedecen sinceramente a Jesucristo consideran que todo es bueno. Pero los que no obedecen ni confían en él, creen que nada es bueno; sólo piensan en lo malo, y no les remuerde la conciencia.

16 Dicen que conocen a Dios pero, cuando vemos el mal que hacen, sabemos que eso no es cierto. Son odiosos y desobedientes, incapaces de hacer algo bueno.

TITUS 1

1 From Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ.
I encourage God's own people to have more faith and to understand the truth about religion. 2 Then they will have the hope of eternal life God promised long ago. And God never tells a lie!

3 So, at the proper time, God our Savior gave this message and told me to announce what he had said.

4  t Titus, because of our faith, you are like a son to me. I pray that God our Father and Christ Jesus our Savior will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!

What Titus Was To Do //in Crete

6 t they must have a good reputation and be faithful in marriage.t Their children must be followers of the Lord and not have a reputation for being wild and disobedient.
7 Church officialst are in charge of God's work, and so they must also have a good reputation. They must not be bossy, quick-tempered, heavy drinkers, bullies, or dishonest in business. 8 Instead, they must be friendly to strangers and enjoy doing good things. They must also be sensible, fair, pure, and self-controlled.

9 They must stick to the true message they were taught, so their good teaching can help others and correct everyone who opposes it.
10 There are many who don't respect authority, and they fool others by talking nonsense. This is especially true of some Jewish followers. 11 But you must make them be quiet. They are after money, and they upset whole families by teaching what they should not.

12 It is like one of their own prophets once said,
“The people of Crete
always tell lies.
They are greedy and lazy
like wild animals.”
13 This surely is a true saying. And you should be hard on such people, so you can help them grow stronger in their faith.

14 Don't pay any attention to any of those senseless Jewish stories and human commands. These are made up by people who won't obey the truth.
15 Everything is pure for someone whose heart is pure. But nothing is pure for an unbeliever with a dirty mind. That person's mind and conscience are destroyed. 16 Such people claim to know God, but their actions prove they really don't. They are disgusting. They won't obey God, and they are too worthless to do anything good.
