تیتوس 1

1 از پولُس، خادم خدا و رسول عیسی مسیح، در خدمتِ ایمانِ برگزیدگانِ خدا و شناخت آن حقیقت که موجد دینداری است،2 و به امید حیات جاویدانt که خدای منزّه از هر دروغ از ایام ازل بدان وعده فرمود3 و کلام خود را در زمان مقرر آشکار ساخت، به‌واسطۀ موعظه​ای که به حکم نجات​دهندۀ ما خدا به من سپرده شد،

4 به تیتوس، فرزند راستینم در ایمانی مشترک:
فیض و آرامش از جانب خدای پدر و نجات​دهندۀ ما عیسی مسیح بر تو باد.

مأموریت تیتوس در کْرِت

5 تو را از آن‌رو در کْرِت بر جا گذاشتم تا کارهای ناتمام را سامان دهی و همان‌گونه که تو را امر کردم، در هر شهر مشایخی برگماری.6 شیخ کلیسا باید بری از ملامت، شوهرِ وفادارِ تنها یک زن، و دارای فرزندانی باایمان باشد که از هر گونه اتهام لجام​گسیختگی و سرکشی مبرا باشند.7 چرا که ناظر کلیسا کارگزار خداست و از همین‌رو باید بَری از ملامت باشد، نه خودرأی یا تندخو یا میگسار یا خشن یا در پی منافع نامشروع،8 بلکه شهره به میهمان​نوازی و دوستدارِ نیکویی و خویشتندار و پارسا و مقدّس و منظم؛9 و پایدار بر کلام مطمئنی که تعلیم داده شده است تا بتواند دیگران را بر پایۀ تعلیم صحیح پند دهد و نظر مخالفان را رد کند.10 زیرا گردنکشانِ یاوه​گوی و فریبکار بسیارند، بخصوص از ختنه​شدگان،11 که دهانشان را باید بست، زیرا برای کسب منافع نامشروع، تعالیم ناشایسته می​دهند و بدین‌گونه خانواده​ها را به تمامی تباه می‌سازند.12 حتی یکی از انبیای خودشان گفته است: «کْرِتیان همواره مردمانی دروغگو و وحوشی شرور و شکم​پرستانی تن​پرورند.»13 این شهادت راست است. پس آنان را سخت توبیخ کن تا از سلامتِ ایمان برخوردار باشند و14 به افسانه​های یهود و احکامِ منکرانِ حقیقت گوش نسپارند.15 برای پاکان همه چیزْ پاک است، امّا برای آنان که آلوده‌اند و بی‌ایمان، هیچ چیز پاک نیست، بلکه هم فکرشان آلوده است و هم وجدانشان.16 مدّعی خداشناسی​اند، امّا با کردارشان او را انکار می​کنند. نفرت​انگیزند و نافرمان، و نامناسب برای هر کار نیکو.

TITUS 1

1 From Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ.
I encourage God's own people to have more faith and to understand the truth about religion. 2 Then they will have the hope of eternal life God promised long ago. And God never tells a lie!

3 So, at the proper time, God our Savior gave this message and told me to announce what he had said.

4  t Titus, because of our faith, you are like a son to me. I pray that God our Father and Christ Jesus our Savior will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!

What Titus Was To Do //in Crete

6 t they must have a good reputation and be faithful in marriage.t Their children must be followers of the Lord and not have a reputation for being wild and disobedient.
7 Church officialst are in charge of God's work, and so they must also have a good reputation. They must not be bossy, quick-tempered, heavy drinkers, bullies, or dishonest in business. 8 Instead, they must be friendly to strangers and enjoy doing good things. They must also be sensible, fair, pure, and self-controlled.

9 They must stick to the true message they were taught, so their good teaching can help others and correct everyone who opposes it.
10 There are many who don't respect authority, and they fool others by talking nonsense. This is especially true of some Jewish followers. 11 But you must make them be quiet. They are after money, and they upset whole families by teaching what they should not.

12 It is like one of their own prophets once said,
“The people of Crete
always tell lies.
They are greedy and lazy
like wild animals.”
13 This surely is a true saying. And you should be hard on such people, so you can help them grow stronger in their faith.

14 Don't pay any attention to any of those senseless Jewish stories and human commands. These are made up by people who won't obey the truth.
15 Everything is pure for someone whose heart is pure. But nothing is pure for an unbeliever with a dirty mind. That person's mind and conscience are destroyed. 16 Such people claim to know God, but their actions prove they really don't. They are disgusting. They won't obey God, and they are too worthless to do anything good.
