Saludos de Pablo

1  Yo, Pablo, esclavo de Dios y apóstol de Jesucristo, escribo esta carta. Fui enviado para proclamar fe at los que Dios ha elegido y para enseñarles a conocer la verdad que les muestra cómo vivir una vida dedicada a Dios. 2 Esta verdad les da la confianza de que tienen la vida eterna, la cual Dios —quien no miente— les prometió antes de que comenzara el mundo. 3 Y ahora, en el momento preciso, él dio a conocer este mensaje, que nosotros anunciamos a todos. Es por mandato de Dios nuestro Salvador que se me ha confiado esta tarea para él.

4 Le escribo a Tito, mi verdadero hijo en la fe que compartimos.
Que Dios Padre y Cristo Jesús nuestro Salvador te den gracia y paz.

Tarea de Tito en Creta

5 Te dejé en la isla de Creta para que pudieras terminar nuestro trabajo ahí y nombrar ancianos en cada ciudad, tal como te lo indiqué. 6 El anciano debe llevar una vida intachable. Tiene que serle fiel a su esposa,t y sus hijos deben ser creyentes que no tengan una reputación de ser desenfrenados ni rebeldes. 7 Pues un ancianot es un administrador de la casa de Dios, y debe vivir de manera intachable. No debe ser arrogante, ni iracundo, ni emborracharse,t ni ser violento, ni deshonesto con el dinero.

8 Al contrario, debe recibir huéspedes en su casa con agrado y amar lo que es bueno. Debe vivir sabiamente y ser justo. Tiene que llevar una vida de devoción y disciplina. 9 Debe tener una fuerte creencia en el mensaje fiel que se le enseñó; entonces podrá animar a otros con la sana enseñanza y demostrar a los que se oponen en qué están equivocados.

10 Pues hay muchos rebeldes que participan en conversaciones inútiles y engañan a otros. Me refiero especialmente a los que insisten en que es necesario circuncidarse para ser salvo. 11 Hay que callarlos, porque, con su falsa enseñanza, alejan a familias enteras de la verdad, y sólo lo hacen por dinero. 12 Incluso uno de sus propios hombres, un profeta de Creta, dijo acerca de ellos: «Todos los cretenses son mentirosos, animales crueles y glotones perezosos».t 13 Es la verdad. Así que repréndelos con severidad para fortalecerlos en la fe. 14 Tienen que dejar de prestar atención a mitos judíos y a los mandatos de aquellos que se han apartado de la verdad.

15 Todo es puro para los de corazón puro. En cambio, para los corruptos e incrédulos nada es puro, porque tienen la mente y la conciencia corrompidas. 16 Tales personas afirman que conocen a Dios, pero lo niegan con su manera de vivir. Son detestables y desobedientes, no sirven para hacer nada bueno.

TITUS 1

1 From Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ.
I encourage God's own people to have more faith and to understand the truth about religion. 2 Then they will have the hope of eternal life God promised long ago. And God never tells a lie!

3 So, at the proper time, God our Savior gave this message and told me to announce what he had said.

4  t Titus, because of our faith, you are like a son to me. I pray that God our Father and Christ Jesus our Savior will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!

What Titus Was To Do //in Crete

6 t they must have a good reputation and be faithful in marriage.t Their children must be followers of the Lord and not have a reputation for being wild and disobedient.
7 Church officialst are in charge of God's work, and so they must also have a good reputation. They must not be bossy, quick-tempered, heavy drinkers, bullies, or dishonest in business. 8 Instead, they must be friendly to strangers and enjoy doing good things. They must also be sensible, fair, pure, and self-controlled.

9 They must stick to the true message they were taught, so their good teaching can help others and correct everyone who opposes it.
10 There are many who don't respect authority, and they fool others by talking nonsense. This is especially true of some Jewish followers. 11 But you must make them be quiet. They are after money, and they upset whole families by teaching what they should not.

12 It is like one of their own prophets once said,
“The people of Crete
always tell lies.
They are greedy and lazy
like wild animals.”
13 This surely is a true saying. And you should be hard on such people, so you can help them grow stronger in their faith.

14 Don't pay any attention to any of those senseless Jewish stories and human commands. These are made up by people who won't obey the truth.
15 Everything is pure for someone whose heart is pure. But nothing is pure for an unbeliever with a dirty mind. That person's mind and conscience are destroyed. 16 Such people claim to know God, but their actions prove they really don't. They are disgusting. They won't obey God, and they are too worthless to do anything good.
