Titus 2
1 But you are to speak the things that befit sound doctrine.2 Old men should be sober, chaste, prudent, sound in faith, in love, in patience.3 Old women, similarly, should be in holy attire, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teaching well,4 so that they may teach prudence to the young women, so that they may love their husbands, love their children,5 be sensible, chaste, restrained, have concern for the household, be kind, be subordinate to their husbands: so that the Word of God may be not blasphemed.6 Exhort young men similarly, so that they may show self-restraint.7 In all things, present yourself as an example of good works: in doctrine, with integrity, with seriousness,8 with sound words, irreproachably, so that he who is an opponent may dread that he has nothing evil to say about us.9 Exhort servants to be submissive to their masters, in all things pleasing, not contradicting,10 not cheating, but in all things showing good fidelity, so that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.11 For the grace of God our Savior has appeared to all men,12 instructing us to reject impiety and worldly desires, so that we may live soberly and justly and piously in this age,13 looking forward to the blessed hope and the advent of the glory of the great God and of our Savior Jesus Christ.14 He gave himself for our sake, so that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and might cleanse for himself an acceptable people, pursuers of good works.15 Speak and exhort and argue these things with all authority. Let no one despise you.
Titus 2
Conduct Consistent with Sound Teaching
1 But as for you, communicate the behavior that goes witht sound teaching.2 Older men are to be temperate, dignified, self-controlled,t sound in faith, in love, and in endurance.s3 Older women likewise are to exhibit behavior fitting for those who are holy, not slandering, not slaves to excessive drinking, but teaching what is good.4 In this wayt they will traint the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children,5 to be self-controlled,t pure, fulfilling their duties at home,t kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the messaget of God may not be discredited.t6 Encourage younger men likewise to be self-controlled,t7 showing yourself to be an example of good works in every way. In your teaching show integrity, dignity,8 and a sound message that cannot be criticized, so that any opponent will be at a loss,t because he has nothing evil to say about us.9 Slavest are to be subject to their own masters in everything,t to do what is wanted and not talk back,
10 not pilfering, but showing all good faith,t in order to bring credit tot the teaching of God our Savior in everything.
11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people.t12 It trains ust to reject godless wayst and worldly desires and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,13 as we wait for the happy fulfillment of our hope in the glorious appearingt of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.t14 Het gave himself for us to set us free from every kind of lawlessness and to purify for himself a people who are truly his,t who are eager to do good.t
15 So communicate these things with the sort of exhortation or rebuket that carries full authority.t Don’t let anyone look downt on you.
