第2章
1 しかし、あなたは、健全な教にかなうことを語りなさい。2 老人たちには自らを制し、謹厳で、慎み深くし、また、信仰と愛と忍耐とにおいて健全であるように勧め、3 年老いた女たちにも、同じように、たち居ふるまいをうやうやしくし、人をそしったり大酒の奴隷になったりせず、良いことを教える者となるように、勧めなさい。4 そうすれば、彼女たちは、若い女たちに、夫を愛し、子供を愛し、5 慎み深く、純潔で、家事に努め、善良で、自分の夫に従順であるように教えることになり、したがって、神の言がそしりを受けないようになるであろう。6 若い男にも、同じく、万事につけ慎み深くあるように、勧めなさい。7 あなた自身を良いわざの模範として示し、人を教える場合には、清廉と謹厳とをもってし、8 非難のない健全な言葉を用いなさい。そうすれば、反対者も、わたしたちについてなんの悪口も言えなくなり、自ら恥じいるであろう。9 奴隷には、万事につけその主人に服従して、喜ばれるようになり、反抗をせず、10 盗みをせず、どこまでも心をこめた真実を示すようにと、勧めなさい。そうすれば、彼らは万事につけ、わたしたちの救主なる神の教を飾ることになろう。11 すべての人を救う神の恵みが現れた。12 そして、わたしたちを導き、不信心とこの世の情欲とを捨てて、慎み深く、正しく、信心深くこの世で生活し、13 祝福に満ちた望み、すなわち、大いなる神、わたしたちの救主キリスト・イエスの栄光の出現を待ち望むようにと、教えている。14 このキリストが、わたしたちのためにご自身をささげられたのは、わたしたちをすべての不法からあがない出して、良いわざに熱心な選びの民を、ご自身のものとして聖別するためにほかならない。15 あなたは、権威をもってこれらのことを語り、勧め、また責めなさい。だれにも軽んじられてはならない。
Titus 2
1 But speak thou the things which befit the sound doctrine:2 that aged men be temperate, grave, sober-minded, sound in faith, in love, in patience:3 that aged women likewise be reverent in demeanor, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good;4 that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,5 to be sober-minded, chaste, workers at home, kind, being in subjection to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed:6 the younger men likewise exhort to be sober-minded:7 in all things showing thyself an ensample of good works; in thy doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity,8 sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of us.9 Exhort servants to be in subjection to their own masters, and to be well-pleasing to them in all things; not gainsaying;10 not purloining, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.11 For the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men,12 instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world;13 looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;14 who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own possession, zealous of good works.15 These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
