ZACARÍAS 4

El candelero de oro y los dos olivos

1 En ese momento, el ángel que hablaba conmigo se acercó a mí para despertarme,

2 y me dijo:

—Zacarías, dime qué es lo que ves.

Yo le contesté:

—Veo un candelero de oro puro. En la parte de arriba, el candelero tiene siete lámparas; los tubos por donde pasa el aceite del candelero se conectan con la punta, la cual tiene la forma de un plato hondo.

3 A la izquierda y a la derecha del candelero hay dos olivos.

4 Pero también le pregunté:

—¿Y qué quiere decir todo esto, mi señor?

5 El ángel me contestó:

—¿No sabes lo que significa?

Yo le contesté que no lo sabía,

6 así que el ángel me explicó:

—Dios le está mandando un mensaje a Zorobabel, y es el siguiente:

“Zorobabel,
no hace falta que seas poderoso,
ni necesitas un gran ejército;
lo único que necesitas es mi espíritu.
Yo soy el Dios todopoderoso,
y te aseguro que así es.

7 ”No importa que tus enemigos
sean los poderosos babilonios,
tú los derrotarás por completo.
Y cuando pongas la piedra principal
para reconstruir mi templo,
mi pueblo gritará con alegría:
¡Dios ama mucho a Jerusalén!”

8 Dios también me dio este mensaje:

9-10 «Ustedes, pueblo de Israel,
verán a Zorobabel tomar la plomada.
t Él pondrá los cimientos de mi templo,
y llevará a cabo su reconstrucción.
Su trabajo es ahora muy pequeño,
pero cuando lo haya terminado,
¡hasta los que no creían en él
se llenarán de alegría!

»Así sabrán que yo, su Dios,
fui quien envió a Zacarías
a anunciarles todo esto.
Las siete lámparas representan mis ojos,
pues yo vigilo toda la tierra».

11-12 Entonces yo le pregunté al ángel:

—¿Qué significan los olivos que están a los lados del candelero? ¿Y qué significan las dos ramas de olivo? ¿Por qué están junto a los dos tubos de oro por donde pasa el aceite?

13 El ángel me preguntó si no sabía yo lo que significaban, y como le dije que no,

14 él me explicó:

—Estos dos olivos representan a Zorobabel y a Josué. El Dios de toda la tierra los ha elegido para que estén a su servicio.

ZECHARIAH 4

Fifth Vision: //A Lampstand and Olive Trees

1 The angel who explained the visions woke me from what seemed like sleep.

2 Then he asked, “What do you see?”
“A solid gold lampstand with an oil container above it,” I answered. “On the stand are seven lamps, each with seven flames. 3 t One olive tree is on the right side and another on the left of the oil container.

4 But, sir, what do these mean?”

5 Then he asked, “Don't you know?”
“No sir,” I replied.

6  t So the angel explained that it was the following message of the [Lord] to Zerubbabel:t
I am the [Lord] All-Powerful. So don't depend on your own power or strength, but on my Spirit.

7 Zerubbabel, that mountain in front of you will be leveled to the ground. Then you will bring out the temple's most important stone and shout, “God has been very kind.”t

8 The [Lord] spoke to me again and said:
9 Zerubbabel laid the foundation for the temple, and he will complete it. Then everyone will know that you were sent by me, the [Lord] All-Powerful.

10 t Those who have made fun of this day of small beginnings will celebrate when they see Zerubbabel holding this important stone.t
Those seven lamps represent my eyes—the eyes of the [Lord]—and they see everything on this earth.
11  t Then I asked the angel, “What about the olive trees on each side of the lampstand? What do they represent?

12 And what is the meaning of the two branches from which golden olive oilt flows through the two gold pipes?”

13 “Don't you know?” he asked.
“No sir, I don't,” was my answer.
14 Then he told me, “These branches are the two chosen leaderst who stand beside the Lord of all the earth.”
