Funny Story
I recently read John 2:1-11 and laughed because I noticed something I had never noticed, even though I have read this story many times. See if this cracks you up, too:
Jesus and Mary are at a wedding party and the party-givers run out of wine, which was VERY embarrassing!
Mary must have been good friends with the host, maybe they were in the same LifeGroup...I don't know. Anyway, Mary goes to Jesus and says (my own paraphrase), "Son, they are out of wine. What are you going to do about it?" and Jesus responded, "Mom, I don't think I'll do anything about it, because, as you know, it's not time for me to start with the miracles yet."
And this is the funny part, because Mary doesn't respond to Jesus, but tells the SERVANTS to do what ever Jesus tells them!
Its as if she was saying, "I know you are the Son of God, but you are also MY son and I am your MOTHER and I am telling you to MAKE SOME WINE!"
I'll bet as she was telling the servants to do whatever he says, Mary was looking at Jesus out of the side of her eyes and smiling.
I think that is very funny.
