Pagan worship and sacrifice is offered to demons
I've been hearing from Christians well-versed in the supernatural realm that demonic powers are often behind the idols to which pagans give worship and sacrifice. Some ministers who have gone to certain places such as Africa have encountered powerful "principalities in high places". I've believed these stories, but I wasn't aware of a concrete and incontrovertible verse in Scripture that confirmed such a connection. Reading this verse today, I was amazed to see Paul's exhortation to flee from idolatry, because that is partaking of the "cup of demons". He makes it clear that communion with the demonic realm is taking place during pagan sacrifice.
As Christians, we have communion with Christ alone, and therefore, we are able to overcome the demonic. As long as we abide in the love of Christ, obey His commandments, and walk in the authority given to us by the Holy Spirit, we will overtake the powers of darkness and storm the very gates of hell itself!
