How Jesus talked to His Dad
Jesus disciples watch as He prays, and wondering into the nature of his prayer life, ask Jesus to teach them about prayer.
Jesus teaching in this prayer is remarkably simple. "God is like a good friend," Jesus says. "Better yet, he is like a great Dad. You can talk to Him about anything. If you truly need something, talk to Him about it. Don't be afraid to ask. Be humble and willing to bend your self to Him, but ask for whatever it is you need."
This is the essence of Jesus' teaching, but He closes it by saying that as a greast Dad, God delights in giving good gifts, just like any father does. However, the "good gift" that God really wants to give is the Holy Spirit. God most delights in giving you Himself when you ask for it. And that Self is found in the person of the Spirit, openeing your eyes to His glory, His holy love, the intimacy of freindship with Him.
