Bargaining with God?
These verses are stunning as they open up new facet in the relationship with God. We see a man negotiating with God and God does not seem to mind it. When reading the passage I get a bit uncomfortable at about verse 29. I kind of feel like saying stop it Abraham, this is God you are talking to, how many times you want to test his nerves. Yet God goes as far as Abraham is willing to go.
Can we really negotiate with God? Is God willing to make deals with us? I think it depends on our motivation and sincerity of the heart. Abraham is not standing up for his own benefit here and I think this is wonderful example of God's patience and love towards mankind.
Its a pity that there was not ten righteous in Sodom and God had to destroy the city anyway.
