Ephesians 2:14-19

I always enjoy reading about the old heroes of the faith. The revolutionaries like Martin Luther and the missionaries like Brad Buser. And of course I always get encouragement from the present day "spiritual giants" like Erwin McManus or Rob Bell. I guess I always saw them as these awesome guys that I get to look at and do my best to be like. The thing is, though, I already had that person. That example is in Jesus.

In this passage I'm reminded that I have the same access to the same Spirit and the same Power as anyone I read or learn about since the resurrection of Christ. That's humbling, but it's also oh so encouraging.

That makes me think that I should not be trying to emulate or imitate these men, but do greater things than they even did or do! In fact, even Jesus said that I am capable of doing bigger things than He did! More than capable, He prophesied that I WOULD do bigger things.

How short of a goal to look laterally when I can look toward Heaven!
