Revelation 2:12-13 ASV

There are two meanings for Pergamos, the first is Stronghold-Marriage. That is symbolic for this part of history of the church (313-606) and can be defined with "the church and the king mixed". Christianity became a state religion, the teaching of the Nicolaits were introduced (see my comment at Rev. 2:6). The second meaning is "parchment", which stands for the huge library that was located there (well known because the Septuaginta was made there by Jews!). There was also a high justice court (which refers to the "sword with two edges - symbol for justice in the Bible).

Also, Satan's seat refers to a pseudo (fake) trinity that was worshipped. Thre was a temple to Zeus, the head god. The second temple was to a Roman emperor, who was worshipped as "lord" -- Julius Caesar, who named himself "Divinus Julius" (Divine Julius). The third is Aesklepios Sooter, who was worshipped in the form of a snake. He is the god of the medicine, could cure all illnesses and could raise the death (is beleived, of course :P). We know it by the snake symbol at our medics.
