King of ALL Kings
Often the most boring part of this entire book is the most overlooked. Matthew uses a very symbolic approach to pointing out Jesus’ lineage. What we do not realize is that there are three groups of names, all of which have fourteen names. The number fourteen was a royal number used to point out kingship. Jesus, the King of Kings, is shown to have come from the royal line of David. The combination of the number three (trinity) and fourteen (royalty) show just how much Jesus fulfilled in his birth alone!
