Matthew 5
Jesus wakes up, and the crowds were already gathering. So he grabs his closest disciples and climbs the mountain to speak to them alone.

Jesus was a leader of leaders. He could have preached this message to all that were surrounding Him, instead this was a message that his disciples needed to hear first.

Historically, this message is called “the sermon on the mount.” Jesus tells his followers, that they must stay humble. Don’t be the pompous religious fool who thinks he is better than others because he “knows God!” Jesus was blasting the religious leaders of his day in this sermon. Don’t be arrogant! Don’t be proud! Don’t be an elitist! Be real! Be humble! Be gentle! Be righteous! Be peaceful! Be hungry for God!

It is a message that we all desperately need today! As God promotes you, or your ministry, don’t get a big head. Stay humble. Stay God hungry! Keep the words of Jesus echoing in your head and close to your heart.
