Faith Hope & Luck (Stanley)
In the first of this series, Andy Stanley explains what it is that sets Christianity apart from any other faith. We have, in history, a person who walked as man with us, died and then rose and was seen by over 500 people. See, the foundation of our faith is 1 person, Jesus Christ. It is not a faith of circumstances or "circumstantial faith". When we, as Christians run into things that have hindered our faith, it has usually been because of one of two things; 1) We changed our behavior i.e. compromised our beliefs or 2) We did everything we knew to do as a Christian and then basically told God what we then expected from him, which ultimately failed us. THIS is a fragile, circumstantial faith. We believe in a God that would come to earth and die for us and forgive us. Because our faith is not based on present circumstances, but on the timeliness of God, we can look for faith and hope past the present and continue to walk in obedience.
