Mike Turner is a down-home deliverer of this message at: http://www.fusionatl.org/p/12081/Default.aspx (Go to Various Messages). Mike first talks about how a kid on "Home Makeover" was disabled and blind with glass eyes. When one of the interviewers asked this kid what it was like to be blind, he said that he felt like everyone else was disabled. The interviewer asked, "Why?", to which the kid responded, "People who can see tend to judge each other by what they see. Me, I only see people for who they truly are."

1) Start by having compassion for the Body of Christ. Mike said that there was a time when he was so poor that he and his wife were scrapping to get by; the kids were sleeping on the floor and he was driving a volkswagon with no heat or air. So, he and his wife went to their pastor to see what they're not getting or what they should be doing. So, their pastor said, "Get involved and help others in worse shape than you." So, Mike said they really had to search to find someone worse off than they were, but they did. A woman and her child had been sitting on a couch while her husband and a friend were in the other room cleaning guns. Her husband's gun went off and fired through the wall hitting the wife in the back and paralyzing her from the waist down. She had been pregnant, but miraculously had the baby. Anyway, her husband ended up leaving her out of sheer guilt. The woman remarried, but the couple was financially suffering. So, Mike's wife went everyday to help the wife for a while. Meanwhile, Mike recd $500 at work and was excited to get home and share it with his wife. But his wife said that they should share $250 with the couple. Mike was hilarious in sharing his transparent thoughts about giving up 1/2 of his blessing. But he shares how God blessed he and his wife for their obedience.

2) Have compassion for your Community. If we were not here, would anyone know or care? Back when Hurricane Hugo hit Haiti in the early 90s, Mike was pastoring a church and went down there to help. But he got caught up in the video cameras and the promo part, but through a young starving Haitian, God spoke to Mike saying, "the greatest form of giving is to those who can never return the favor."

I don't know who this guy is, but this was a fantasticly funny and convicting message. It is definitely worth hearing...
