Jesus had the ability to do amazing things. Like transform himself into light. Thats crazy. The disciples are awe-struck, amazed by what they were experiencing. Then, they hear the audible sound of God's voice. Matthew says they were "scared to death" How scared would we be if God showed up in such an in your face way?! Imagine how the disciples felt when they hear His voice, thinking about everything they've done that was against God's will, thinking about every time they couldn't pull off what Jesus told them to do. God was right there in their faces and they were about to soil themselves. Then, Jesus turns to them, touches them and says "Don't be afraid". We shouldn't be afraid to experience, hear, and talk with God. He knows your past, present, and future. He knows when, where, and how you've screwed up and how you're going to screw up. God is Love. God is Grace. "Don't be afraid" because of what you've done, God wants us to "listen to him" so we can develop a relationship with our Creator, so he can reshape our mess into a 10 out of 10 life.
