1 Peter 2:4-10

It's always exciting when I receive something new and fresh from scripture I've heard countless times. God is so good. Sometime I think I know it all, only to realize I know nothing.

Here's what I already knew but had reaffirmed: Build your life and faith on the cornerstone of Jesus, focusing in on Jesus as the cornerstone upon which everything is built. That's great, it's just that I already knew it

What I didn't connect with until now: Vs. 5- Now God is building you, as LIVING STONES, into his spiritual temple. I have known the analogy of our body as His temple, but this is a fresh concept:

"Peter portrays the church as a living, spiritual temple, with Christ as the foundation and cornerstone and each believer as A stone."

He's emphasizing community. I can't be a temple all by myself according to this. Even though the world says, "Let's make it all about me" or "Look out for number one" or "Make a name for yourself".

Christ calls us into community and interdependence with other believers. Notice I didn't say condependence. There is a difference. As a recovering codepent, I walk a fine line between interdependence and codependence.

interdependence- mutually dependent; depending on each other.

codependence-of or pertaining to a relationship in which one person is physically or psychologically addicted, as to alcohol or gambling, and the other person is psychologically dependent on the first in an unhealthy way.

There has to be a balance.

I can't build alone...I am only one stone, BUT with others, our efforts are multiplied and together the BEAUTIFUL house is built.
