Andy Stanley, in the second part of this Series, at www.northpoint.org, talks about what FAITH is not. It is NOT 1) A power or force at our disposal- 2) A formula for us to figure out - prayer, prayer, prayer, then go to church. 3) Confidence or faith that we will win, that we will succeed, faith that we will receive. (That's hope) 4) It's not complicating. Hebrews 11:1 tells us what faith is. Noah built the ark on faith initiated by God and Abraham moved to a new place on faith initiated by God. But God is the initiator, not us. We can confidently bring our prayers and requests to Him, but we have to be confident that He is still God. In Luke 5:12, a man covered in leprosy came to Jesus, with the faith that Jesus had the power, and said if Jesus was willing, he could heal him. Jesus said, "I'm willing. Be clean." That's the picture of faith!! God is God and He is the God who asks us to call him something closer than the conroller of the universe. He asks us to call him Father.
