You Can Trust Me (Briscoe)
Following a baby dedication of a child still in the womb who is facing genetic defects, Peter Briscoe delivers this great reminder at http://www.btbfmedia.org/sermons/podcast.xml. He describes the horrible situation in Lamentations. Jeremiah, the "weeping" prophet, first talks about all the woes of his people for three chapters. It's really bad stuff like selling children into slavery for food. But then Jeremiah decides to focus on the positive; the love of God. He says that we are not totally consumed solely because of the love of God. When we as Christians focus on our circumstances, we become restless, but if we focus on the love of God, our faith grows. Where we get into trouble with our thinking of God is when we expect Him to fulfill promises he never made. God makes promises in His Word, but we have to be careful that we read his Word in context. Peter urges us to listen and watch for God and know that he is with us even if he is silent. If we can't hear God, it's usually because he's working in our lives. But we need to focus on Him and His love to endure all circumstances.
