Humility
John, the one in the wilderness, the one who was to prepare the way for Christ, had many followers. He was very popular...even enough for the Jews to seek him out and answer questions. When they ask him who he is, he simply responds that he is the one who is crying out in the wilderness to make straight the way of the Lord. Flat out humility comes from his mouth...he knows that there is one coming that is much greater than him. I love that John points to Christ when asked about his actions. He does not take any credit for anything but shows humility (26-27). I wish I was more like this/
