What's Your Motivation
Why do you do what you do? Is it to elevate yourself to a position of honor and glory? Absalom desired to bring attention to himself. He put himself in a position of authority and treated everybody to "make them feel important". He "stole" the hearts of the people. Absalom used deceptive actions to accomplish a selfish motive. Later in 2 Samuel, Absalom is hunted down and killed because of what he was doing. Motives that are contrary to God's plan, are shut down, 100% of the time. What's your motivation? Is it to draw attention to your self? Selfish motives work against God's will. God wants us to put ourselves in a place of service, not try and lift ourselves above the crowd. Let your motivation be to put God in a position of honor. Your worth comes from Him, not from the praises and respect of the people around you.
