Overcoming Addictions
• WHAT HAS MASTERED YOU?
…for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him…
Everything is permissible for me but I will not be mastered by anything.
TAKING ON ADDICTIONS
1) TAKE IT TO GOD.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires...but rather offer yourselves to God...For sin shall not be your master...
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
2) TAKE IT PUBLIC.
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed...
o Help me with prayer.
o Help me when I fall.
o Help me with accountability.
My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
3) TAKE IT DOWN.
No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
I can do everything through (Christ) who gives me strength.
