Some people would perceive this as a lie from God since when Adam and Eve did eat from the tree, they did not die but God is not talking about a physical death here. The death Adam and Eve experienced upon eating the fruit of the tree is a spiritual death, a death of their innocence, a death of their direct connection to God, the one who breathed life into them. Today, a little piece of us dies each time we bite of the proverbial forbidden fruit and guilt grows. The only way to be restored to fullness is through Christ.
